[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

I'm feeling that if the final civ of the pass was a Native American civ, its a toss up between either the Cherokee or the Navajo imo.

The Haudenosaunee/Iroquois I can see being reserved for a Final Frontier Pass as a veteran Native civ.

I'm actually thinking the exact opposite. If NFP is filled with the most basic of civ requests like Byzantium, Gaul, Babylon, and Vietnam...then I would give up all hope on the Cherokee and the Navajo when the fan base clearly prefers cramming a fourth civ up in the northeast

If this is a legit leak (and it does feel faked to me), I regret dropping money on NFP. Not a single civ I wanted, or anything remotely novel or unexpected. Those of you that said it was just a fan service season were right.

Just want to point out if it is "genuinely" faked one needs to hack into a NS to produce these pictures (a blurry, shaken picture is very hard to be photoshoped) - the 3 pictures came from 2 different sources, both have a NS.

If this leak proves to be true, at this point I might just be writing VI off as creatively bankrupt.

Well there's no if. You can look at the Nintendo eShop and see for yourself.

Decrying the game as "creatively bankrupt" because you didn't get what you wanted is a tad melodramatic. None of us have gotten exactly what we wanted because this game has the impossible task of being everything to everybody. Had you gotten your druthers all the way with NFP, plenty of people would have been as upset with the content as you are now.

The two sources adds a bit of credibility (although they might come from the same source). After seeing dozens of blurry fake leaks for smash bros games over the years, it is decidedly not as hard to fake as people think.

Is it still on the eshop? Was it ever on the eshop? I'm afraid I haven't looked too much into this yet, and I don't really care to because real or fake it's thoroughly uninspired. :p

Eh, forgive the melodrama. This news just hit me and pack 4 was the last hope I could have that the game would throw us something new or interesting. I spent the past four years thinking this was a game that actually appealed to me (or eventually would in its completed state), and I am now forced to face the fact that it never was nor will be. All things considered I think I'm reaching acceptance quite quickly. ;)

Happy that we are getting another Ancient Civ. Even though I would have liked Assyria there's no denying Babylon should also get in the game. Science and government focus seems right.
I'm assuming Hammurabi might start off with Code of Laws from the start and they might get a unique library.

I personally think a second Native American civ is more likely than Portugal, but I don't deny my thinking is influenced by the fact that I very much want a second Native American civ and couldn't care less if we never got Portugal.
I feel less certain now that Babylon seems to be getting released. Unless we get another pass I feel like the Cree are going to be all we get and they end with Portugal with Maria the Mad in March.
March Madness anyone? :mischief:

Allegedly, Babylon is leaked as the next pack via Nintendo e-shop.

Hammurabi.

Science and government focus.

2 unique improvements.

Plus 24 new Great People, 6 city-states. And the Heroes and Legends mode.
You know what? This looks great. I’m super excited.
It's actually in the link. Mahavihara and Trading Domes.
Quick google search tells me they’re part of the East Indian/Burmese/Sri Lankan/Bangla Buddhist tradition: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahavihara, specifically Bengal, Bihar and Burma— It most suggests Pagan to me.

Bihar is taken by the maurya, so unless they’re adding it as a LUI for Chandragupta, I can’t imagine this suggests anything other than either a Pala Empire capital or Pagan as the city state

Trading Domes very much suggests Bukhara or Samarqand for me.
A quick Google search tells me that there are a number of domed barzars (Kuppelbasar in German, Trading Domes in English) in Bukhara.
Yeah, that’s what i was thinking
it appears there will be a Central Asian (Trade) and a South Asian (Religious) city-state, as well as whatever replaces Babylon (Trade).
The Mahavihara city state is most likely Pagan imo, but if it’s a Pala Empire capital, that implicates a lot for south asian civs in the future, like the Mughals and Chola, since it would recognize them as seperate from the India civ

Also, a quick glance to me indicates Hammurabi is based off of Montezuma, I think.

I’d also say the implications of this guarantee that the Trung Trac is our Vietnam leader in Jan. I pray that she is correctly depicted (correct clothing and language).

It also makes Jigonhsasee the most likely leader pick for March, imo

The second source has a very clear Moiré pattern effect on it (those stripes on the pictures when you try to take a photo of a digital screen), something (to my knowledge) never shown up on those faked smash bros leaks.

It's also not on the eshop anymore. I just checked.

That being said I just got home from work and stumbled across this news so I can't say for sure if it's true or not, but it looks legit to me.

I still think ending with Portugal in March is just as likely with Maria the Mad.

If you have a nintendo switch, you can still it on the eshop. You can't see it if you're on pc though.

I do agree with you about the fan service civ choice, generally I don't like science focused civ cuz they are notoriously boring, like Korea and Maya, especially after I dug into the history of Oman after your introduction about their naval power a few posts back. I am definitely biased in case of the introduction of Vietnam cuz I'm ethnically Vietnamese, but the fan-service leader choice (which is almost definitely a woman if Vietnam is actually introduced in Jan) is quite disappointing.

Just to add, if Babylon has their UU being an Archer replacement and their UI being an Ancient Walls replacement just like in Civ5 then they will truly be boring to me.

I'm not seeing any reference to Burma on that page - there is a list on a related page however that seems to suggest that Kathmandu (and Lalitpur) have several Mahaviharas.

If they were going to go with a Burmese temple, I would have expected them to use a name along the lines of Paya/Bhura/ဘုရား (as in Sukritact's mod) or Zedi/Ceti/စေတီ

I can't wait for the community to get their hands on all the juicy info to pick to pieces! :D

It wasn't on there for me? I don't own Civ 6 on the Switch, just the PC, so is that the problem because I could see the other packs fine.

I'm hoping for a unique library replacement. I'm not sure how an Ancient Walls UB would work in this game considering they would eventually be replaced by regular Medieval Walls.

Give the Ancient Walls UB a much higher defense value and makes it replace Medieval/Renaissance Walls altogether.

Oops, you're right it's not there anymore. I checked immediately after I saw the reddit post (roughly 4 hours ago) and saw it myself, so I just assume that it is still there.
A library replacement is definitely more inspiring I guess. Right now the only unique Campus building we have is the Madrasa. I just really don't want another unique Archer, but drawn from the past versions of Babylon, I guess it has to be the Babylonian Bowman.

I'm hoping for more advanced walls to just be part of their civ ability. Similar to how Persia has more advanced roads I think Babylon should have more advanced walls so give Ancient walls the strength of Medieval Walls etc.

And modify Cyrus's ability to ignore the walls of Babylon specifically? :mischief:

Might as well also make it to where Tomyris can automatically kill Persia's units too. :p
