[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

To be fair, they specified that it was conquest through military or religion, and they could also be referring to Byzantium’s civ ability, with Alexios having a religion/trade ability.

Basil makes sense though, with a war-like ability giving him access to the Varangian guard with a Dromon Civ UU
Well I think religion was expected. :p
If it wasn't Justinian or Theodora, Basil II would be my choice. Actually I think he is the leader of them in the Vikings Scenario which might make him more likely.

ima be honest, please, no more europe
I want my Italy and Portugal in season 2 though. :p

Theory time: What if this is a European pack based off of Classical/Medieval Europe and Pack 4 is Portugal based off of Early Modern Europe? That would mean pack 6 is probably either a NA tribe or something from the Middle East/Mesopotamia/North Africa and we would only get one of them. :shifty:

The reveal is up... And I am hella surprised by the second civ... Pleasantly

EDIT: Oh, late to the party

I hope we just don’t get portugal and pack 4 is Assyria or Babylon, with pack 6 the Navajo

Wait guys... What about the Venice city state?

replacing antioch, presumably

I thought Antioch was more Seleucid than anything, but if it's a city in Byzantium, then it'll work! It's even more confusing in the fact that it already replaced Amsterdam and was out in R&F.

it was founded by the seleucids, but it was a byzantine city and presumably it is now on their city list.

Any possible combination would leave either Portugal, a Native American or an ancient Middle Eastern one out of NFP.
Of all these, I think Portugal is the most likely to be left out. Or maybe Pack 01 was the pack for the Americas and that would mean no NA in NFP, which I think is unlikely. I don't think they're going to cut an ancient Middle Eastern civ out.

That said, I think Portugal is the most likely to have been left for a second round of passes, and perhaps Babylon too, if we are going to get Assyria at some point.

Gauls have ranged strike unique district that does not replace Encampment...

Feel it could be the Dunon, a UI in Sukritact's Gaul would it be a district or somtehing else?

Why? There's no reason to think that a city-state that replaced another city-state is somehow a permanent thing that will endure through the complete edition.

Haha, Gaul! :D

I knew Scotland wasn’t a replacement for the Celts!

I'm happy to be wrong.

So the Gaul unique district that can ranged strike is Industrial Zone replacement, it contains Workshop later in the video

It was a Byzantine city in 4 and 5. Still nothing is confirmed and it's still possible Antioch might not be a cityfor them and that was for November. :mischief:

I was initially skeptical about a second round of passes, but now it might be possible considering I don't feel like they would leave Portugal out of the game.

Sorry, I just thought that cause no city state that wasn't either base game or already a replacement of a city state would stay a city state.

They said that Byzantium was ALL about conquest. So Leader, CUA, UI... If not, they would have said "Byzantium is turned towards conquest with some trade abilities".

Sorry but Byzantium is reduced to a military machine I guess. If I could I would have bought only the Gauls ^^

Well we got no Portu- but still got -gal. :mischief:

I really like Gaul as a Celtic influenced civ without creating a blob. I like that they have a weaponized non encampment district for defensive firepower.

Also am surprised by the Byzantine leader portrait for it's uniqueness. Unless Theodora decided to dress like Santa, I think we can breathe easy.

Overall this looks like a good pairing. You get an early rival to Rome and Rome's Medieval spin-off.

Portugal being excluded is making me think they are saving some more old civs for a potential second Frontier pass.

I feel like now that I know most of the pass' contents I can finally buy the pass. This has been a good roster.

Anyway, now I think the speculation will be more fun :p

I can hear Byzantium's music in the background of the video. It sound absolutely mesmerizing.
