[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

Don't tempt me Zaarin. I actually like the Seleucids and I'm tapped out on greeks
I'd rather have the Sassanids myself. :p

Well if this is truly going to be it Maria might not be the only one mad in March. :mischief:

If Portugal gets a female leader, I'd kinda hope it's Maria II this time. :p Still, both Marias are weird choices; they come well after Portugal's heyday.

It might reduce the possibility of Pedro II showing up if she ends up leading Brazili too. :mischief:

Are there better female options for Portugal considering it will most likely be the case?

Considering both Maria II and Jadwiga died rather young, I suspect I know where they could pull animations from as a reference...

EDIT: Oh and they both had their deaths caused by childbirth complications

I'm pretty sure the Marias are the only female choices outside of the possibly of
a
Regency or a mythical leader
That I am unaware of.

Portuguese dynastic history isn't my specialty, but Maria II is the best I can think of.

Apparently Maria II is rather fondly remembered in Portugal so...? Man idk throwing spitballs but I'm 99% sure it's Portugal in March

Vietnamese is the only one among nations all over the world which has consistently worshipped whales.
Literally the entire Pacific Northwest and several Siberian tribes disagree.
The word for whales in my mother tongue (Marathi) is Devmāsā. It literally means 'God Fish'.

Funnily enough, I made a list of Civs I would love to see included in my own game and right there were the Arawak/Taino with Anacaona as the leader. I love that you thought of this.
I would also love to see the Taino (and other Caribbean civs) with Anacaona as their leader, but i don't think this is their pack with the Caguana city state; maybe in the future if this is not the end of Civ 6 and City State can be replaced with Guanche City-State (Natives Amazighs of the Cananary Islands) and the batey is replaced by a Tagoror it would fuction in the same way

Yeah if this truly is the end of the line for Civ 6's post launch development then yeah, my bet is on Portugal for the last civ.

Rest in peace Hawaii, Haida, Swahili, Burma, and all my other wishlist civs. Perhaps you'll get your chance in Civ 7 :(

Only thing we have to hold on to is Andrew liking a comment by @DogeEnricoDandolo asking for Firaxis to release both NA and Portugal for Civ 6.

But to me it read more like Andrew liked the comment as to say "I've read it", since Doge was addressing Andrew specifically. It looked like courtesy rather than a hint. :(

What do think @Andrew Johnson [FXS] ?

Not gonna lie, I'm now just banking on them leaking everything in a random readme with the new update tomorrow.

Well obviously he can't confirm anything officially on his own whim and we've had the discussion before about how this pressure of "You said that, that must mean this, are you confirming it?" isn't really inspiring for FXS employees to stay discussing here. Speculating what they did is one thing, trying to toss them into the speculation off-guard is another. He may at best tell you he'd personally like both NA and Portugal in Civ6 as person, which really hardly proves anything official.

Out of these options, I think Italy and Cherokee are the most likely, in terms of leader worthiness and recognizable Civ names. Berbers is an idea that mostly exists inside our CivFanatics bubble, and I doubt they would impress the casual fans. They're better off being saved for Civilization 7, where they can be an expansion addition.

Fun scenario:

We get Italy and two replacement city-states for Bologna and Venice. :P

I like the both the idea of Italy led by Matilda and Cherokee led by Nanheyi. At this point, after Lady Trieu I think the rules could be bent a little for figures like Matilda.
