[NFP] Civilization VI: Possible New Civilizations Thread

you know what woudl steal even more hours? if civ was a gacha game, and you’d have to roll to get the civs/leaders you want
As a trade off you get to start with the perfect map and starting location. :mischief:

Okay, we have the wetlands map and wonders specifically from Portugal and Babylon.

I'm thinking that a lack of an America or Africa map, plus the fact that the wonders are strictly limited to NFP civs, and the fact that they are still calling April as part of "the season"...

There's gonna be a season 2.

Pegging Austria(/Denmark) and Assyria as locks, something Italian as likely. And gonna guess we will get two North American civs (probably Navajo and Iroquois) and Numidia/Morocco. Alternate leaders for both Egypt and Arabia (the only thing better than a dual leader is two leaders). The remaining two civs are a toss-up but I think Burma is the frontrunner.

I wouldn't say the "end of the season" terminology guarantees a second season. But it certainly leaves the door open for that possibility.

I'm not really leaning one way or the other, but they chose that wording on purpose to get our hopes up.

If this were going to be the only season, then I'd expect them to say something like "end of the pass." NFP is called the New Frontier Pass after all, so using a term not specific to this season is an odd deliberate choice.

Granted, the use of the word "the" most likely signifies it's a singular pass. If they wanted to imply more than one, I'd imagine they'd say "end of this season."

To me there's evidence in both directions. I guess we'll have to wait and see :mischief:

We also have Anton's bio saying he pioneered the season pass model for Civ. That would be a weird thing to claim if it were only going to be a one-off thing.

I think they would like to do another season. Whether they do or not is likely largely dependent on how well NFP as a total and the individual component DLCs have sold.

I think they are analyzing the results of NFP to assess whether it is feasible to launch a few more packs. I don't know if more content is very likely, but definitely the door is open.

I mean if it does happen this makes sense.
As much as I'd like Siam to return or maybe even a Mughal civ, I see Burma happening before them. Ayutthaya was just released as a city-state along with Lahore and Samarkand for anything related to Central or South Asia. Nothing else in Asia, apart from Assyria in the Near East, seems likely except the Philippines.

My mind keeps on going to Haiti too as a colonial civ paired with the Iroquois for some reason, though I'd prefer the Navajo and Iroquois. They'd be the first civ in the Caribbean, primarily of African descent, and a Francophone nation, which Canada is kind of portrayed as one but still.

Not sure about Sub Sahara Africa at all. Too many possibilities.:crazyeye:
Though I'd like Benin, the kingdom not the modern day country.

Can't say I would be that excited about another pass. An expansion sure, but Firaxis handled for the monthly releases on the NFP poorly so if the next round of new content was a pass I would wait until it's all released to buy it.

Not going to lie, whether they release it in an expansion or pass form, I'll probably buy it. They don't even have to release game modes in them. I'd welcome 8 more civs and another alternate leader regardless. :mischief:

Sure, I'd probably buy it as well. Personally, I would pay the full $40 for just eight new civs and some game balancing but a "season" updates was clearly too much for Firaxis to do properly, given all of the bugs and issues with the game modes. Then on top of that you have the problems on consoles with constant late game crashes and who knows what else that might be going on that hasn't got a lot of attention on these forums. The patch notes always had so many issues listed that I wasn't aware of that it is kind of astonishing. More content, sure, but it needs to be in a format that Firaxis can do properly.

With regards to what a second season could include for civs, the door is wide open. All the series regulars are accounted for.

Civs that have shown up before that could appear again:
Hittites/Assyria
Iroquois/Sioux/Shoshone
Morocco
Venice

Gaps that could be filled:
Northwest North Africa
More Sub-Saharan Africa
More Native North Americans outside of Meso-America
Central Asia, particularly Turkic or Persianized

Popular requests:
Native American tribes of all sorts
Moors/Berbers
Italy or variations thereof
Assyria

Check this out. @João II ½ had the eyes and reflexes to get this picture. This is what Joao II looks like. Or it's just me getting overly-excited again...

I know Tutankhamun wasn't exactly Egypt's most effective ruler but I think he'd make sense in Civ 6 due to his personality.

If we're going for more historically relevant leaders, I'd like to see Ramesses II, Hatepshut, or Narmer.

I'm more concerned about what he actually did. I don't care if he was less effective than Rameses II, I just want him to earn his place. What did he do other than being discovered by Howard Carter? :P

If I were going for sheer personality, Tut's daddy Ahkenaten would be a hell of a choice.

Not much. That's kind of the point I was making. He's an interesting person but not in terms of his political achievements. :P

Yes please. :)

To be fair it would be a funny ability that every Egyptian artifact that was found by another civilization gave some tourism toward you as well.
