The selection is great. Although it feels like they just picked which traits each possessed at random sometimes. But considering the fact that they included so many and the limited time they probably had to research them that makes sense. Easy to mod anyway I should hope.

It wasn't, we have saw Anuradhapura of the Sinhalese in Antiquity Age, Kandy is another major Sri Lankan city/kingdom and they got a spot on Modern Age

Independents are merely two names (people + settlement) and an attribute (militaristic, economic, etc.) so can be swapped out extremely quickly. We've already seen IPs for most of the upcoming DLC civs and it's actually helped determine the era placement. So no, it won't stop Portugal from being added at all.

What age is Munich? Because isn't München a Prussian city?

I dislike that they are using German names for the Prussian cities but leave a potential Bavarian IP using the name Munich instead of München. They should have either all cities in their native names or all cities in their English-language names.

I'd prefer the later, as most English speakers are most familiar with Rome, than Roma, or Munich over München, or Florence over Firenze, etc. Either way, they should be consistent in city names, though.

Many city-states in Civ5 and Civ6 were "promoted" to civilization status in subsequent DLCs, so I bet many of the IPs we've seen might become civilizations later on.

I was not familiar with who the Shardana were meant to be - seems like they are one of the Bronze Age “Sea Peoples”.
