Red mirage... Now Trump will again try to claim he won because he was winning when the count was stopped by his protesters.

The real reason is probably because they were going Alphabetically so Alabama gave Trump 9 and Alaska gave him 3, totaling 12. Interestingly... the very beginning was probably the last point where they actually could have halted the count where Trump would be ahead. Arizona (11 for Biden) was next, followed by Arkansas (6 for Trump), but then it would have been California (55 for Biden), followed by a bunch of Biden states, so Trump's total would have never caught up after that.

I forgot to add... It looks like Ossoff won by 0.6% which is above the 0.5% recount threshold in GA, so Purdue can't force a recount.
