Speaking of soap operas... I for one am kinda looking forward to a nice, boring, Presidential administration where hardly anything ever happens worth paying attention to, as a break from this train wreck, total disaster, reality show of horror we've been living inside for the past 4+ years.

The bar is so low at this point, that I hardly even care what they say anymore... under the current circumstances I'll settle for them just not storming the Capitols all over the country and/or starting a Civil War and/or causing a major bloodbath... we can work on easing them towards reality later... baby steps.

And something depressing that I was confronted with recently, while watching the documentary The Social Dilemma, is that the tech we use and media/social media we consume, has become so tailor made to steer us into bubbles/echo-chambers, that reality, for so many people, has unironically morphed into "reality" with scare quotes.

The applicability here, is that while there certainly were numerous bad-faith actors using the "election fraud" lie as cover for what was really just being a sore-loser, and/or a naked attempt to dispense with the Democratic Republic as we know it in favor of their own perpetual power... there was something arguably more troubling at play. There were scores of people out there with a genuine belief that there really was a great fraud going on... that the election really had been stolen.

Another potential benefit of the Impeachment is that with the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head, Trump may be discouraged from engaging in any further, possibly worse mischief, because he knows that it will increase the chances that more Republicans will defect, and vote to convict him. I regard Trump's more recent hostage video calling for "no more violence" as a direct result of the threat that the Impeachment poses. It certainly isn't the result of thoughtful reflection and/or remorse.

He gloated he had nothing to fear of the 25th and told Biden to watch his back because the 25th would come back to bite him. If he had not been kicked off Twitter, I could see him tweeting out lies about the AOC wing of the Democrats plotting to take down Biden for incompetence, which he would use as false evidence of Biden's incompetence.

I think it is far more realistic than AoC (who has no power to replace the president), to just see Biden himself leave before the end of his term, so as to make Kamala potus. Which imo is pretty problematic, given she wasn't voted to be president.

It doesn't matter. The smart move for Dems is for Biden to bail after 2 years and after the 2022 elections. He'll be 80 and should step down. Kamala will then have 2 years to be the incumbent for 2024. Potentially, she could have a 10 year term and get some real work done.

Ivanka is done. I don't think she could survive a primary. I think the whole family has been too badly discredited and she doesn't have the rhetorical capability of daddy. Furthermore, does anyone want Jared anywhere near the government? I suspect at the first sign of serious legal trouble, they are off to Israel to avoid extradition.

Everybody knows Biden's age.
Everybody knows that if he dies or the 25th is invoked Harris replaces him.
The Biden/Harris ticket won the election.
Nothing problematic with her replacing Biden if that happens, its the main purpose of the VP position.
