Computer Questions Not Worth Their Own Thread II

I have a question. I see an icon set literally everywhere, in many programs and internet sites too. Took me a while to identify it, but it turns out it's called Silk:

Just why are these icons so ubiquitous? I was just wondering.

Also: Registers as neutral given what people are familiar with... feel is "Blend between old and new Windows, clean but soft" so it's rarely going to look totally out of place.

On my laptop, the alt key is between and below the x and c keys. On every other keyboard I've looked at it is between and below the z and x keys. Are there any good USB keyboards that have the alt key in the same position as my laptop or do I just simply need to get used to alt being a bit farther to the left than I'm used to?

Microsoft Natural 4000.

Thank you very much, but I don't like egonomic keyboards. Any other keyboards that have an alt key between the x and c keys? Thanks

I know that HHDs are notoriously hard to destroy. Which got me thinking... How difficult is it to destroy a micro SD card? Obviously a few hammer blow crushes it, but is the data still recoverable?
And... Suppose you swallowed a micro SD card, will it poison you or otherwise have significant health effects?

I dunno, some data might be recoverable, but you'd be looking at tens of thousands of dollars minimum to get anything. For still-working hardware, just overwriting all the space a few times makes any previous data unrecoverable. (A single pass is plenty for any regular usage.)

If you've got full disk encryption, you don't even need to overwrite the data to erase it, you just need to wipe the encryption key from the disk - this is particularly convenient for stolen devices where you're able to issue this command.

I don't suspect a swallowing a microsd card would have much of an effect, but I probably wouldn't try it.

Free and decent quality? :dunno:

Many icons are that, though, so it leads to wondering why Silk is so widespread.

Well you may end up with a blockage or something, though I don't recall the exact details. If you're asking because you actually swallowed one I would go to a hospital.

Can someone point me to an idiotproof svn tool? My brain just won't cooperate.

Thank you.

Well I got it to work. Thank you.

I've had terrible luck with computer mice. The most recent one I bought drains the batteries even when switched off. It's worthless and should be destroyed.

What's a good, reliable wireless mouse? Preferably not much more than $25~ though I might be willing to spend more if you can make the case.

I'm using a Logitech M510 wireless that's never given me any problems. $40 retail, might find it less online.

Not answering your question, but I have given up on wireless mice, even at work where they are paid for. I go with a good quality wired one.

Are there any models of tablets you all would suggest for use in class?

I really like the asus ones that have a keyboard dock you can use with it.

Things I really am looking for:
Detachable Keyboard
Able to use stylus
Access to good notetaking apps
Access to a large library of e-textbooks
Good battery life
USB ports would be a big plus, even if they are only on the keyboard/dock

Galaxy Note 10.1 or Windows 8 tablet

Only ones with decent styluses.

Does Galaxy note have a detachable keyboard? Or is that the cellphone/tablet hybrid you are talking about?
