I can't see that forum. Please elucidate.
Basically, instead of the middle ages, the game will take place a long time ago in a galaxy far far away.:p He has screen shots of some the map overhaul, which is in space instead of Europe. Not much work has been done yet, but it appears to be a serious mod effort.

I had a look at the forum and my question is still WTH?

So far there's a screenshot of three provinces in a blocky sphere to presumably be a planet, a nebula picture as a background and a character with sith-y lines all over his face. And a bunch of text that is pretty much all fluff, no concrete detail on how it's all going to work. Like for starters how the hell do you even make the Crusader Kings engine deal with a fully 3D galaxy with space travel like they seem to be trying? That seems like it would be...quite a feat.
So yeah there's been about five minutes work put into it so far, and it kinda has all the tell-tale hallmarks of one of those mods where they haven't quite figured out just how much work goes into making a big mod like that. Maybe I'm just too cynical, but I'd check back in a month or so before getting too excited...

I guess at least some of you have already read about the seemingly crazy and improbable mod idea that has spawned on this forums some time ago; the Star Wars conversion for CK2. Well, some of us have decided to give it a try and start some coding. At this point, we need more people. As you may guess, the mod will require a load of work - mostly on graphics and world construction. The Old Republic MMO provides us with quite a lot of background information - but still there is, frankly speaking, quite a bit of Galaxy to create. There are titles to be created, traits to rework, characters to be included - and many, many more. Thus, we want YOUR help!!! If you can contribute in any way, feel free to PM me. Together we shall rule the Galaxy!

Background
The mod is to be set in the Old Republic times, roughly 3650 years before the Battle of Yavin and 350 years after events of Knights of the Old Republic series. The Galactic Republic unifies the Galaxy - either formally, or thanks to its wide political and economical influence. Yet, there are disturbing reports from the Outer Rim. It is said that a vast Sith force has taken the remote planet of Korriban, establishing a foothold for an even greater invasionary force. Could this be a beginning of a new war with the followers of the Dark Side? Or maybe there are some other, even more ambitious and sinister enemies about?

Become one of the planetary governors, fighting off the invasion while you build up your position within the Republic. Or maybe become a crime lord in the Outer Rim, and make sure your family uses the chaos to carve out the empire of its own? Beaten by Revan almost four centuries ago, the Mandalorians have retreated to their home planet. Who knows, maybe the time has come for them to extract their revenge upon the Republic? Finally, there are the omnius Sith, plotting against one another as much as they do against their foes... Which side will you choose?

What will the mod feature?
-> A star map, with planets represented as clusters of provinces
-> An event- and trait- driven Force mechanics, with Jedi, Sith and other Force traditions battling one another
-> Several playable races and political organisations (The Sith, crime lords, The Republic, etc.)
-> Reworked generic traits system, to better reflect the SW favour
-> New buildings
-> New graphics and sounds, reworked interface
-> And many more!

Why did we choose CK2 instead of any other Paradox game?
Basically because we like the close & personal aspect of CK2. Yes, Darkest Hour would give us better combat and - first of all - navy. Yes, Victoria II would probably give us better political system. But we already have Empire at War, Rebellion, Homeworld 2 Star Wars mod and countless other SW titles focusing on combat. We decided to give it a try and create a Star Wars mod that would allow the player to get closer to the characters - just like the films do.
