Crusader Kings 2

Hey cybrxkhan, does CPR work with 1.09 and the Med portraits?

It *might* but there may be some weird results. If you want just the portrait sets, or are fine with just having different portraits for now, you can copy the portrait sets from mod\Cultures and Portraits Revamp\interface and then add the respective [insert portrait set]gfx into the cultures text file.

Do you (or when do you?) plan to update it? If I sound impatient, understand it's the enthusiasm speaking. ;)

And it was me! That's going in the sig.

Of course I plan to update it. :D (Not to mention it feeds directly into VIET, anyways.)

But first I want to get the update for VIET finished first, then I'll have to buy the Mediterranean portrait pack (will get around to that eventually)... so probably at least a week for CPR.

Good to know. Hopefully P'dox put out a 1.09a by then, too... you know, fixing Tanistry and all that.

The next version of CPR will also include more customization options. For people who don't like their Italians and Spaniards having too big a tan (so there'll be options for making either/both look Western, for instance - among other things).

But indeed it appears this latest update was a tad buggy. I wonder how bad it was for 1.06? (I only really jumped into CKII right after that)

I wouldn't know. By the time I got CK2, it was running stable 1.06 I think it was b.

Rome is definitely worthy, SOI only seems worth it if you want to play as a Muslim nation, Republic critique seems mixed.

More or less agreed. Since the Republic just came out it is a bit buggy (not that bad that it's unplayable or near that, but it does have some balance issues and/or random bugs here and there), so whether you want to try Republic or not is up to you - the devs will almost certain patch things up very soon (I believe we're due for a hotfix in a few days).

Are any of the DLCs worth buying?

Rome: Yes. Definitely.
SoI: Yes. I find Muslims more fun to play than Christians, but that's just me. You could spend decades playing as Christians and not get bored, really.
Republic: I'd wait a little before buying this, until some of the kinks get worked out.

Granted, due to Pdox's policy on this, most of what comes in the DLC comes in the patch and buying the DLC more or less 'activates' it. I'm not sure about Republics though, considering I haven't really played CK2 in a few weeks.
Speaking of which, did/how much of the Republic features come in the patch?

IIRC it's only the ability to play republics.

And the patrician clothes, which look hilarious on non-Europeans.

I gather Legacy of Rome makes playing the Byzantines pretty fun?

That depends, it is a pretty small DLC to begin with so it only adds some flavor events and the like. The most important addition are the retinutes, which you may or may not be interested in. LoR in general is worth it, though, especially if it's on sale.

Playing Republic + new version of Project Balance is getting me some funny business.

I expect pretty much all major, large mods to have some issues upgrading to the latest patch.

It's so annoying upgrading my mods when there's a big patch. :(
