Ragnar, as veBear guessed. Pretty straight-up change of clothes. I thought the beard fit him pretty well.

Yeah, I basically based him off of this coin and used my imagination for the rest / whatever clothing was simpler to work with:

One question: could you release a second, spin-off version of this guy with black skin and african looking clothes? I'd like to use him as a second LH for my Swahili civ as that second sultan of Zanzibar ;)

You mean a re-skin or something? Sure, that probably isn't too much a hassle (I guess it's sort of like my Dhu Nuwas vs. Abd el-Krim). Still, if you want to use something else in the meanwhile, I've been using a slightly reskinned version of CivGold's LH for Yemen (Yahya) for Barghash.
 
I like this a lot. He was very important and AFAIK there hasn't been an LH of him yet. Good job! Is this or Burma going to be the next Civ of the Week?

Burma's next (actually it's just released), after that is Tunisia and then the Kushans.

Speaking of Tunisia, does anyone know a good generic middle eastern or north african leaderhead out there I can steal (and obviously one I haven't used before)?

No problem. Shouldn't be an issue. Well, except the Sultans of Zanzibar were originally from Yemen or Oman or something, if I remember correctly, so they technically shouldn't be that dark-skinned... ah, who the hell cares.

Anyhow, might be a good time for me to play around with some of the more advanced features of GIMP.

Also, for the first time ever, I included the xml for a unique leaderhead personality in the whole package, so that's nice, isn't it? the shading and skin texture looks a little off. Not sure what it is though.
 
The face and skin are textured. Although the one odd thing I've noticed with Kanishka and Bayinnaung is that for some reason they're noticeably less... bright than my old leaderheads after I shader them for some reason. I'm suspecting that perhaps there's some step that I'm not taking, or that I'm doing something that I forgot about that I did with my older leaderheads.
 
Well it seems you shadered the suit and the turban but you didn't shader the face. If the face don't have shader files (NORM, SPEC, EMSK), I can help you to create them. ;)

I think nitram ha sit right or your nit adding in the ENV that gets left out on export or your not adding the right shadername.

Actually, seems like I mistyped my last post - I meant to say that I did shader them (Bayinnaung and Kanishka), yet the contrast/brightness is not as... good, I suppose? compared to my older leaderheads.

Would playing around with the lighting and/or the actual brightness values of the thing help a bit, as a short-term solution?
 
It's most likely the light in combination with the shader maps, not sure though. I will take a look if you like.

Edit: Just had a quick look and at the LH. The face has the wrong shader. TLeaderheadNoSkin_20 istead of TLeaderheadShaderNoSkin_20, therefore the face mesh uses no shader at all. You could also change the fill_diffuse-light colours to black instead of blue. I think the blue shimmer on his face and the turban dosen't fit with the overall setting. But it's your call.


And nice LH, really like him! :)

Oooooooooooh. That makes sense. No wonder. What an embarassment. Thanks for finding it, I really appreciate it! Also, what do you mean by the blue shimmer?


Anyhow, as I sort of predicted, I sidetracked to another leader. Now I'm working on Shoshenq I of the Libyans/Berbers, who will be featuring as the second leader of the Berbers in WoL and for the Libya Civ of the Week I'll be doing sometime in the far future. Anyhow, he's a relatively simple LH based on Logan from Colonization, so here's a preview - any suggestions welcome (credits to VeBear whose reskinning of the skin I stole from his Hayam Wuruk LH):

Besides that the attachements are too blurry, i'd say #3.
#1 + 2 will be associated too much with egypt, and i don't think that this is the complete intention.
Bakuel already explained some geography about the berbers in one thread, so i know that this is probably not even wrong, but i think the totall association might be at the end.
 
I agree with The_J, the backgrounds are too blurry and I would go with #3 too, as the other two look too egyptian.

Anyhow, here's a little preview of him in-game. Unfortunately I somehow messed up while in blender, hence why he's completely stiff and why he's a couple feet shorter than he should be, so I'll have to fix that up (and lose a lot of work in the process :mad: ... then again he's a pretty simple LH, so it shouldn't be too much a hassle). Still, at least this is the idea, more or less.

Also, as a side note, does anybody know what leader animations go fine with which leaders from Colonization (particularly Logan for this guy)? I have the data for the normal Civ4 LHs, but I couldn't find anything for the Colonization guys.
