Merkurios v.1.5 (Shadered) looks great. I think you see how easy it is to shader now and how much it pays off.

But if I remember correctly there wasn't much change to the actual nif, just change in animation (not that it's a great leaderhead, anyways, I'm using it in WoL). Anyhow, Suryvaraman is a pretty weird leaderhead to start off with...

Anyhow, I wanted to post a little update on Khosrau. It isn't much, but I just wanted to see everybody's opinion on the color scheme for the whole guy - whether the colors for the clothes and the crown/hat work, and whether maybe I should make his hair darker (not that it matters, really, but I'd like to see what you all think).

(Also, just as a random side note, after almost a year of procrastination, I've just released a new version of WoL (thread here), which features leaderheads not only by Ekmek, The Capo, and others, but my own. Many of the leaderheads I'll be making now will be in WoL, so check it out if you feel like it!)

Alright, Khosrau I is almost done. I think he may be my most sophisticated and best LH as of yet, even without the shadering.

After a little mess with those @#$%ing unweighted vertices, I finally got him pretty much finished - and he's almost fully shadered (except for the hair), credits to Nitram15 and his tutorial.

I also discovered how to "sculpt" on my own here (it was pretty fun)a, which is why the guy looks a bit, er, "different" than suryarvarman. I think this does make him a little more... Persian. I admit he's a bit shiny, but I like it, I think it fits with the image.

Thoughts?

That looks pretty cool, you can hardly tell it was created based on Sury. I'd suggest giving him some eyebrows though. And I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason the background makes it look strange, I can't really explain it though.

I took The Capo's suggestion and gave him eyebrows (actually I just painted them on, but same enough), darkened his skin just a tad bit, and @#$% does he look even better! I'm going to release him along with a Sassanid CotW hopefully in a few hours or by tonight.

very cool. just curious but does the LH use the diff.dds for texture? you can still use the nonshader.dds with the shader files. it will still be shaded but it gives more definition IMO.

Good catch Ekmek, yeah I think the Nonshader texture on a textured LH definitely makes it look better.

Khosrau I is up! And I think I have certainly outdone myself this time; not only did I learn more shadering techniques (thanks to Nitram15), but I also self-learned the concept of scuplting. I'l'l be using him as Khosrau I as another Persian leader in World of Legends, and as the Sassanid leader in my next CotW.

Yes, he does. Unfortunately I think I copied over the old nonshader.dds, so, yeah.

Even though I think he looks more Persian than Arabic, he could do as Harun al-Rashid. However, I'd advise you do some retexturing of the clothing to make it look more clearly Islamic. Anyhow, I strongly advise anybody who uses my Leaderheads to use them for other leaders, so, yeah.

I've been playing Assassin's Creed recently, and this is how the Arabs dress there. I think that he really looks like an Arab caliph, not only like a Persian king. I will give him a new background, of course.

Sculpting was fun, even though I really didn't know what I was doing ! (But it worked brilliantly, anyhow, so that's the important thing.)

If it suits you, I have no problem - use my LHs for whatever twisted purposes! I think the background would be fine for a Caliph, but it could be replaced with something more Islamic-looking, certainly.

Alright, so I took a little detour from Bulan and made Abd El-Krim, the Berber leader for my World of Legends mod. Anyhow, he is basically a somewhat modified version of my old Dhu Nuwas leaderhead - and he is shadered, too. I don't think he's totally finished yet, so I'll return to him at a later time, which was why I call this "version 1".
