DaftNES 3: Alternate-World Fresh Start

@Daft: A minor aesthetic note, if an empire controls two adjacent territories, wouldn't it make sense to not have internal (colored) borders between the two territories? That just makes a lot more sense to me.

From: High Patriarch Nephratim of the Shahanar
To: Nartozieroni

We would be greatly pleased if you would join us in an alliance against the vile Gorukanu raiders.

Shahanar Orders:

3e to Organization UP
2e to Nomads in Hloga
2e to City in Shahan (Malenar the Just)
1e to build Camel Archers in Narudi
1e to build Trade Galleys south of Shahan

Trader unit in Makar will move to Boro, upgrade into a Camel Trader unit. (I wonder, can I get veteran traders? That cow trader has been around since the beginning. :hmm:) Attempt to establish solid land and/or sea trade routes with both Ka Molo and Noidi.

I think the upkeep from my palace hasn't been included. If not, go 1e into debt to pay for the Haskites (upgrade to armored horseback warriors) and the palace upkeep.

The units in Narudi will strike back against the Gorukanu! Shahan archers may help them, Shahan phalanxes remain on defense.

The Aquen would like to announce that the Juernuen ((or however it is spelled :p ) are now our vassals. Their transgressions will be forgiven, as long as they do not strike out against us or stray to far from our teachings.

OOC: I conducted some diplo about this with Daft on neschat.

Would you be interested in a joint campaign to rid us of these Odda barbarians forever, with lots of loot for everyone?

To Varai League (CC Al-Qahira)
From Calenge

We agree with your proposal. We also approve the diplomacy that you sent to the Al-Qahira Confederacy. We officially recognise the Bringer of Light as part of our Pantheon, and we hope that he may bring great things to the Varai cities, just as the divine Rollippo makes Calenge prosper and grow in power and influence.

We propose that our capital should be at Calenge, which is securer than anywhere else in the League, and we suggest that our new league should be called the Loxequistra League.

To Novai
From Calenge

We hope that we may remain at peace and friendly.

Special: 'Great King' (Power / Military / Organisation) Current Task: Power

Spend 3e on three swift and powerful ships.
Spend 1e on a skilled woodsman troop in Gleis.
Spend 1e on a hoplite troop on Cria.
Spend 2e on rebuilding the port on Cria.

Use the great King (who is called Equistrique) to organise a smooth union, without unrest, between Calenge and the Varai League into the Loxequistra League and, if possible, to undisrupt our assets in Cria.
Use the 5 ships (1 Calengian, 1 Varai, and 3 New) to join together into one fleet to overwhelm the northern Ongen fleet. Then use the ships to protect our trade and to help defend our possessions on Cria.
Use the hoplite in Chari to defend the city there.
Prepare the units of Cria for any Novai attack.
Prepare the units of Gleis for an Odda barbarian attack, making good use of that fort, and of the woodsmen's veteranhood and skill in fighting in woodland, and also asking the Gleis barbarians under our protection to help. If our navy has managed to defeat the northern Ongen fleet, use some of the ships and their sailors to support our campaigns. In addition, I suspect that chariots like theirs may not be very useful in woodland. If we manage to defeat them thoroughly, advance into Odda and take over those cattle, enslaving the worker there.
{watch this space: I might decide to attack the Odda barbarians}

From: The Highking's Ministry of Vethmenari
To: Calengians
We will gladly join you in such a campaign, under the condition that the land be divided between all participating parties.

OOC: Spyrllino, could you PM me about how that will be handled? I'd like to know how it will work before I edit my orders.

In Odda, there are four parties of Barbarians, and four Barbarian workers on resources. It is our intention that each of our four countries (Calengians, Caerlan, Torecan, and Vetharil) should take responsibility for each defeating one party of barbarians and each enslaving one worker.

We'll work out which country does what once we know how many are taking part in our endeavour. It would probably be best if you defeated those swordsmen in the southeast, and took over one of the workers on the deer resource.

That's fine, but we would like to see some sort of monetary or territorial compensation for not using the Oddites as potential customers. The swords of the Vetharil come on condition of loyalty or price.

You can have as much territory as you can take off the barbarians, and you can profit by plundering them as much as you want. We aren't hiring you: we are suggesting this as an attempt to try and rid all of us of a common threat. These barbarians are too strong, and they need to be put down before they irresistably plunder all our lands.

Kaerlan is willing to help put down these barbarians. Our soldiers our powerful, and these barbarians threaten the trade that passes through Mriz. The Calengians can count on the friendship of the Kaerlic clans in the struggle ahead.

Very well, you have Vethmenari's aid, but know that we intend to colonize the emptied lands of the barbarians. Long live the Highking!

OOC: My edited orders will arrive shortly. Please discard previous orders.

If the Vethmenari think that the soldiers of Kaerlan have any plan of leaving once the barbarians are defeated, they are sorely mistaken.

OOC: Note, Vethmenari is the country, Vetharil is the culture/race :)

IC: The Highking and his Ministry welcome a sharing of the wealths of Odda. We do not intend aggression to the Kaerlic peoples.

OOC: My bad. I won't make that mistake again :)

IC: Then we are at peace. The warriors of Kaerlan look forward to seeing how your spearmen will fare in combat.

We thank the Kaerlan and Vetharil for their agreement.

We are sure that you can best co-ordinate your attacks as best you can; we are simply going to order our troops to attack as soon as we hear that you have attacked. Given the distances involved, we don't think that it is realisitic to suppose that we Calengians can actually wage a campaign that is properly co-ordinated with you southerners.

We still hope that our subjects in Gleis, the Torecan, and the Boda barbarians will consent to join our war.

Vetharili soldiers shall appear on the field of battle, sword and pike in hand, prepared to bring civilization and the Gods to Odda. The Highking has spoken.

OOC translation: We'll mess those :):):):)ers up.

Hmm, should be some action next turn...

@Daft: A minor aesthetic note, if an empire controls two adjacent territories, wouldn't it make sense to not have internal (colored) borders between the two territories? That just makes a lot more sense to me.

Yeah I guess so, such a thing is possible, its just an additional step of editing. I'll see what I can do next time.

(I wonder, can I get veteran traders? That cow trader has been around since the beginning. :hmm:)

Hmm I hadn't thought of veteran units outside of normal combat ones. But now you mention it, I guess it should work for all units.

I think the upkeep from my palace hasn't been included. If not, go 1e into debt to pay for the Haskites (upgrade to armored horseback warriors) and the palace upkeep.

Hey thanks for your honesty there :) I think you're owed a little money from something I did wrong before, so that's all cool.

The Aquen would like to announce that the Juernuen ((or however it is spelled :p ) are now our vassals. Their transgressions will be forgiven, as long as they do not strike out against us or stray to far from our teachings.

OOC: I conducted some diplo about this with Daft on neschat.

I wish to confirm the above ^

Gods of the Vakar

Yuchigo – Heavenly Emperor The first God-Emperor-General that the Vakar encountered, at first they served for money, then for glory and now their faith compels them.
During the first war with Zharu Yuchigo was cut down assaulting the walls of their city, many survivors of the battle, including the Tyrash himself, claim that a blinding light consumed Yuchigos body before the light engulfed the entire battlefield. It is now said that the death of his mortal vessel allowed his divine will to ascend to Heaven.
Now he rides a golden Chariot through the heavens moving the Sun and the moon around the Earth.

Xitaan Emperor Yuchigos earthly vessel and heir, the Xitaan Emperors will is Heavens will. Although their judgement may sometimes be unsound, their divine blood cannot be ignored.

Amato – The wanderer a benevolent but restless god, as he has travelled the four corners of the world it was he the Vakar turned too during their time of exile. All travellers and merchants pray to Amato for guidance and for safe along the trade routes.

Kaiutau – Kinslayer an evil deity who seeks to spread destruction and overthrow the natural order divinely ordained by the Emperor. In an effort to destroy the Creators and the Vakar he inspired the lesser gods to attack the eight Creators and the slaves of Zhailin to revolt, the Creators were slain and the Vakar exiled.
He also possessed the prince Kaiutau of Xitaan turning him on against his own father.

The gods worshipped before the exile have largely been forgotten or diminished in relevance. With the Vakar noble houses (who claimed to be heirs to the Gods) all being killed in the uprising, the Tyrash of the Vakar no longer claims to be descendant of one of the eight Gods of Creation.
