DaNES II: When the Stars Fall

To: The Kimmerians
From: The Goths

Sounds good to us. We have more important matters to deal with anyway.

On the upkeep: Meh. Upkeep already increased around 1300 this turn anyways, ~800ish of which I know came from the new Megale poleis, and ~500ish of which I assume came from recruiting new troops. I'm not exactly sure where the upkeep decrease from quality declining comes in. I guess I'm just nitpicking, but I would appreciate it if you took another look.
I will when I do India.

On Istria: The leader's an Archon, supposedly, so I don't get why he's ruling a kingdom. By league, I mean "slightly looser alliance of city-states," one that would be more resilient if the capital gets sacked. We'll agree to the protectorate regardless for the required fee.
Archon just means "person who rules"; it can have equivalents anywhere from the Latin dominus to a midlevel governor to a "magistrate". He's ruling what's called a "kingdom" because his position is hereditary. You did notice that the state is "confederal", right? In practice, most local authority is devolved even more than is usual for one of these sorts of states. The only polis that really matters in Dalmatia outside of Istria is Salonai anyway.

But yeah they'll protectoratize under you.

If you want that territory, you've have to pay us 100 talents.
To: Istria
From: The Aorsi

For an annual tribute of 25 talents, our hordes shall protect your newfound domain.
So pace your recent agreement with Thlayli, I can ignore this?

We'd be willing to divert some of the protectorate revenues (say half) to the Aorsi in return for their good behavior; assuming that Istria tenders us 150 talents in the next turn, we'd be fine remitting an additional 75 to the Aorsi.

How about the territory is exchanged with no talents on either side?

King Platon is yet unmarried, and is interested in rectifying this. We would love to renew our alliance with the Armenians in such a way, but other possibilities are quite welcome.

We're not giving you one of our largest and most important cities, and certainly not without getting something in exchange. Our original territorial adjustment suggestion stands.

Arkah Haroutyoun of Armenia is greatly honored by the notion, but must note of his dismay to the great King. At this time, there is none in our court that could pose as a bride worthy of the King, and as such he can not posit any further marriage ties. He sends his deepest regrets.

We will agree to that proposal if you raise the talent payment to 1200

We congratulate the peace between our neighbours, and we would like it to be made known that, in thanks for their entry into the war on our behalf in the first place, we offer Kaspareia a subsidy of 300 talents towards paying for the treaty.

Due to the unfortunate dearth of Armenian princesses, we would be glad to consider a marriage pact with any of the nearby ruling houses.

The Aursa have been bested on the field. Withdraw to your lands and do not trouble Iberia for a period of ten years, and we shall have peace.

OOC: It's not another war, they're both at war with the Ruxsalannoi. They would have had to fight them individually otherwise.
