D'Artagnan01: Low-level Training Day

OK, I guess it's Commander 'Bob' to do the honours; take us to the stars, CB!

And a 'Happy New Year' to you all!
I won't be able to get to it tonight.

I'll try to get us to the stars on New Years Day.

Happy New Year!

Cape Cod is the upraised arm sticking out into the Atlantic north of New York and south of Boston.

Ha! Anyone would think you'd something better to do on New Year's Eve.
Actually, I spent New Year's Eve at the hospital with my son.

This past summer he had gone on a mission trip to the Congo (Democratic Republic of the Congo; there are two countries with Congo in the name) and gotten back in mid August. On the Tuesday before Christmas he began having malaria symptoms (chills, fever, muscle aches, but no nausea or loose bowels) and on Saturday night (the 23rd) we went to the emergency room when he complained of stomach pains. A blood smear confirmed the malaria, which was soon treated. However, because he had been laying around for several days, the doctor also suspected pnuemonia, which showed up in the x-rays on Christmas day. By the time his pneumonia was under control (late Friday) the paper pushers to set up home health care had gone home, so he was stuck in the hospital for a few extra days.

He got home on mid afternoon on Tuesday.

All of which is why I haven't had a chance to finish out the game, but I plan to do so tonight!

Brave boy! All will soon be well, I am sure.

Yes, he is home and enjoying CIV on his PC. I gave him Warlords for Christmas.
(I had hoped that over the holidays we might learn/play CIV together, but that didn't happen!).

He is on the mend, but wisely he is not trying to overdo things. Well, he did go to church last night to prove that he was alive and to show off his new 'body piercings' (the snap connections for his IV medications).

Space Race
We need three techs: Nuclear Power, The Laser and Robotics
We need three builds: Thrusters (320), the Party Lounge (comes with The Laser) (160) and the Statis Chamber (with Robotics) (320).

Top five shield cities:
  • Lyons 0/64
  • Paris 0/64
  • Orleans 2/56
  • Tours 3/44
  • Besancon 2/42

Solar Plants cost 320.
Hospitals cost 160.

Orleans vMA -> SS Thrusters, 4 turns.
Too soon to switch anything else to SpaceShip prebuild.
Six turns to The Laser.
Ten turns to Robotics.

Hit Enter.

Nuclear Power in 1.
[IBT]
We learn Nuclear Power, begin to learn The Laser, 5 turns.

Besancon vMA -> vMA, 3 turns.
Corte rBomber -> rBomber, 9 turns.

Iroquois have added Storage/Supply to their space ship (3 of 10 parts completed).

02 1710 AD

Cycle through the cities, firing geeks in the core (for more smarts).
Can't get it any lower than 100% science and 5 turns to learn The Laser.
Which also means at least 5 turns to Robotics after Laser. Therefore, we are at T-11 or T-10 until launch.

Iroquois will give Coal, WM, 76 gpt and 1240 of 1242 gold for Superconductor.
Don't think so.
A dumb Iroquois is better than a broke Iroquois, isn't it?
[IBT]
The save is >>HERE<<.

I don't think trading to Hiawatha is a good thing, but I could be wrong. He is our only space rival, so if we sell a space tech to him (even with gpt) do we really help ourselves any? He only offered 76 gpt.

With the race this close it could only be to Hiawatha's advantage; I wouldn't give him the steam from my coffee.

Be on red alert for these final turns, I have a feeling Hiawatha may yet get nasty. You have enough military power to deal with it if he does so I think you can feel free not to cave in to any demands for tech.

Onward to that final frontier!
