D'Artagnan01: Low-level Training Day

I'll go after Bucephalus if that's ok with everyone. :)

I will just need to know what to do during my turns.

Welcome back, Ansar.

Please feel free to take it now if you can; everything you need to know is discussed previously, we're coasting to victory. There should be no Worker turns other than pollution. We are building SS parts so just look to pre-build efficiently, and use your judgement for the tech path.

Merry Xmas.

Thank you for the warm welcome back. :)

Seems like just some looking over cities, checking stuff just in case. I'll play 5 turns since we are in the Modern Age, if that's ok. I'll probably play around with the lux slider to see if I can get 100% approval rating (if we already dont and if it is not too expensive) since I heard from another player that if your people are happy, you get a higher score/per turn.

:xmascheers: Merry Christmas to you too, Buce!

And to end, I just have one thing to say, I got it!
---------------------------------------------

@D'Artagnan: I'm sorry, but I agree with Bucephalus, you are beginning to become a pain. One, Bede (TGOM) does not go:
GET CIVING!!!
He actually waits for us and even lets us stop and ask for questions. SG's are not meant to be rushed through, they are a learning experience. You arent even contributing to this thread, and third, I dont even believe you could have a lingering cold for so long. Sorry if that offended you, but you are being a pain in the gluteus maximus (rear).

PS - Dont sign up for SGs if you arent even going to participate in them.

Just had something really weird occur to me.

After the interturn, our gpt dropped about 900 gpt. What deals did we have that I should renew/make again?

We've been selling techs freely so I'm not sure which have just expired. They would have been struck during CB's turnset if it's important to know. At a guess I'd say Iroqupis and USA, maybe Korea. Try and offer a tech around and see who bites, we're happy to keep them poor.

Well, I checked with the Iroquis and we are at the same tech pace as they are.

I'll see and make some trades just to keep them poor, like you said. :p

I can't remember what trades I made.

Look at the starting save with CivAssist II and it will be give speficx spfics, uhh, details, of the trade agreements.

And it's good to have you back playing turns, Ansar. I know school takes up a lot of your time (time very well spent, I might add) and I can just imagine how ready you are to play.

Go ahead and play five turns. They shouldn't take too long. Then, if you feel up it, take another five. We don't have a war going on, so the turns go rather quickly.

OK, all.

GET CIVVING!

:gripe: :aargh: [pissed]
Bad form, my friend, very bad form.

:shake:

In six months you will be kicking yourself for having posted in such a fashion.

Several times you have popped in with similar posts. And each time I have been tempted to pull out of the game, due to the lack of wisdom shown in those posts. And each time I have told myself, 'He's young. He doesn't know any better. He'll learn.'

Learn this: The social and inter-personal skills you have shown in this thread are subtandard.

Know this: Those same skills can be improved very quickly.

Do this: Show this thread to your father and ask him how D'Artagnan59 could have improved how he presented himself to the world. And then listen to what he has to say. Sure, he will be shocked that you are asking him for help. Then he will be honored that you are asking him for help.

(And, yeah, I was young and dumb once, too.)

I had time because of Winter Vacation!

I'm not sure I can agree with you if school is time well spent. Except for the part with friends. ;) :p

It's nice to come back to SG's. They are the only thing that keep me hanging on to Civ3. Playing a single player game is getting kinda boring.

00 Preturn

Rush library in Sartene for 176 gold.
Rush library in Corte for 200 gold.

The lux slider cant be upped without the science slider lowered.
No changes, though Approval Rating is still high ( %).

No pollution on our lands, but there sure is alot on the Iroquis.

[IBT]
Orleans Tactical Nuke -> Tactical Nuke (6 turns). Prebuild for SS Part.
Avignon Offshore Platform -> Stock Exchange (5 turns).
Rennes Temple -> Research Lab (6 turns).
Liverpool Marketplace -> Bank (54 turns).
Bordeaux Commercial Dock -> Marketplace (20 turns).
Dover Marketplace -> Library (40 turns).
Corte Library -> University (20 turns).
Sartene Library -> University (100 turns).
Leeds Marketplace -> Courthouse (80 turns).

Deals expired (most likely due to tech trades, as Bucephalus said).
Those expired deals probably accouted for about 900 gpt, which we just lost.
Treasury: 26260 (+197gpt)

01 1630 AD

Notice a unworked grassland tile in Rennes.
Send workers to road, railroad, and mine the tile.

Rheims is working a unrailroaded tile.
Send English worker stack to railroad it.

Since we need to keep draining the AI, check to see which techs we can sell:
CivAssistII Tech Screen 1630 AD
Tech_Screen_1630AD.JPG

Americans wont trade us for anything.
Neither will Ragnar of the Vikings.
Korea will accept our knowledge of Ecogoly for 140 gpt.
Incas dont want to trade anything for our techs.
Neither do the Egyptians.
Iroquis are same as us in tech, so no trading with them.

Pollution strikes Lyons.
Tours Tactical Nuke -> Stock Exchange.
WLTKD celebration is cancelled at Bayonne.
Deal with America expires.

02 1635 AD
Disband Tactical Nuke at Bordeaux. Marketplace in Bordeaux goes from 20 turns to 4 turns.

Clear polluted tile near Lyons.

Drop science 10% and income jumps +136 gpt. Synthetic Fibers in 1 turn.
Increase lux by 10% which will proudce WLTKD everywhere. (0.7.3)

Trade Ecology to America for 49 gpt + World Map.
Treasury: 26597 (+323 per turn).
[IBT]
Synthetic Fibers -> Superconductor. 6 turns at (0.8.2)
Pollution strikes Paris.
Rheims Solar Plant -> Stock Exchange (6 turns).
Poitiers Granary -> Marketplace (13 turns).
Would you like to hold elections of UN Secretary-General? No, thank you.

03 1640 AD
Lyons Palace (switched to) SS Exterior Casing (5 turns).
Marseilles Tactical Nuke (switched to) SS Storage/Supply (1 turn).
Marseilles_1640AD.JPG

Dropping Superconductor from 6 turns to 5 turns is feasible, but it takes up all of the investments, aka 0.10.0.
Decide against doing because otherwise WLTKD will be cancelled in mostly all cities.

[IBT]
Marseilles SS Storage/Supply -> Offshore Platform (8 turns).
Dijon Tactical Nuke -> Offshore Platform (10 turns).

Corte's borders expand (rank 2 now).
Sartene's borders expand (rank 2 now).
Grenoble's borders expand (rank 4 now).

Just a snapshot of our beautiful empire. With Superconductor finishing up in 4 turns and Paris finishing it's Tactical Nuke in 5 turns, it's a perfect prebuild fit.

Spaceship Progess 1650 AD
Spaceship_1650AD.JPG

Our Spaceship progress:
  • 5 out of the 10 pieces have been built.
  • Superconductor will give us 2 more.

Handoff Notes and Comments
It was very fun playing this turnset, especially this late in the game.
Next player, there really isnt anything special to do. Well, not that I know of. :shifty:
Looks like in a couple of turnsets, we will have the spaceship off into space.

PS - Sorry about copying your turnlog style, CB, but your turnlogs look really nice and neat and I decided I should start doing mine like that (well, except for the Preflight ;)).

Everyone has their own style of turnlogs. If what I do works for you, feel free to use it and modify it. I just took ideas from other logs and incorporated them into mine (and mixed and blended and tweaked). So did Shakespeare and Dr. Suess (took ideas and mixed and blended and tweaked).

After all, there is no patent on a turnlog style! :D

On the Preflight, well, I use the Preflight as a way to get reacquainted with the details of the game. It takes a while to put it together, and I seem to be adding more to it as I go, but it helps me to focus on what to do. It works best when combined with a strategy post for the next turns. "Here is where we are, this is what we want to do, how can we do it?"

Roster (I think this is the right order...)
  • Ansar the King - Just Played
  • Bucephalus - Up!
  • CommandoBob - On Deck
  • Bede - If he feels like he wants to pick it up. ;)
D'Artagnan59 - ???

That was just a test showing you my bad side.

And you all passed! A++!

And ever since I went to barbarian camp, my social skills have adapted to barbarian ways and needless to say, now they are VERY appaling.

You should see the guy I took to barbarian camp.

So now I wreak havoc with the bone of my turkey leg last Thanksgiving. Yes, a turkey leg.

See, I am a barbarian Gascon.

I need some input on this Guys:

I am struck by how complacent we've been. It occured to me that I didn't remember mention in the turnlogs of Iroquois building any SS parts; when I tried to see I couldn't - we have no spy. It troubled me not knowing so I took a closer look at the Iroquois, and discovered things that I don't like.
  • they have every single Strategic Resource;
  • they have Space Flight so they will have begun their SS;
  • they are only one tech behind - Synthetic Fibres; we still have four more to go.
  • they have many well developed cities around their core, so it's likely that they are only one SS part behind;
  • they have a large, well developed Empire;
  • they have a powerful economy - Hiawatha didn't blink when I asked 750gpt for Synthetic Fibres;
So I began Idly musing about what tactics we might employ if military intervention became necessary, and discovered that, "We are weak compared to them"; we could handle a defensive war I suspect (though without a spy we can't be certain), and they don't yet have Satellites so no ICBM's, but once they get SF they will have MA. Unbelievably we don't; we have 10 tanks that we could upgrade, but no MA.

If, in the worst case scenario, Iroquois get ahead in the Space Race, we have neither the means to invade nor the means to sabatage production.

We have 28,000 gold in the bank; I would like the team's consent to use it to bring the military up to scratch.

I would also like consent to risk war by attempting to plant a spy once we have a satisfactory counter-offensive force in place.

I saw aluminum but no uranium. And I only saw one aluminum.

By all means get the spy and upgrade our military.

If you think war is inevitable, depending on the space ship progress, get an ROP and then move troops around Salamanca and their aluminum. On the first turn of the war take out Salamanca (and killing their space ship progress) and pillage the aluminum. Might as well do the same for rubber and oil also. Then they can't build new good stuff; they'll be stuck with Rifles and such.

No, they do have Uranium; it's in the SE of their territory, about two cities from our border.

I suspect TGOM wouldn't sanction ROP rape.

We are maybe three or four turnsets away from launch; I think from here on we should reassess all possible options before every turn. Each player must know exactly what is required in all eventualities - we're close but we're not hearing 'fat-ladies singing' yet.

I did see that the Iroquis were at tech parity with us, but I didnt except that they could be getting ahead of us.
I wouldnt recommend trying to wage war against the Iroquis, being an AI in the Modern Age, by now they probably have plenty of units to counter with.

If we do wage war, we must prepare. Using the 28,000 to build up military sounds like a good idea, I mean we dont use it in any other way, so why not. :)

@CommandoBob's Plan: I dont know if Bede will approve of a ROP-Rape Tactic...
