[BTS] Deity One City Challenge on a Huge map with 18 civilizations

I like both henge and oracle.
I think GProphets are nice. Settled hammers are good, and extra gold per turn doesn't hurt. At worst it can be used to buy resources for more health/happines.

Oracle MC sounds nice too, I tend to always forget about half-price forges while playing industrious.

Metal casting is also good because it is >30% more expensive than Alphabet, Mathematics, Aesthetics, so it can be traded on them in 1-on-1 basis. And Code of Laws - can't.

Agree on SIP vs on marble. In my experience at least, you want quite a lot of hammers in OCC and even with stone and marble I think there’s no harm in having a few hammer heavy tiles. You won’t work them all the time but when you need to build something it’s nice to be able to do it quickly, then go back to generating :gp:.

Agree that prophets aren’t great, but they aren’t a disaster either so long as you don’t get too many of them. Bear in mind all world wonders give 2:gp: in addition to their other effects and so I consider Stonehenge a snitch at only 48:hammers: (effective). In terms of :hammers:->:gp: ratio, it’s up there with ToA (another early wonder to seriously consider) and beaten only by the great library.

Hmm.. I tried to find this scenario, but I can only find it with nobles setting.
How do I go about to try it out?

Custom Scenario ... You change your own difficulty.
I think it is an old scenario so the AI wont get techs and archers but everything else is right.

Yeah, no deity starting units Krikav. The map is very susceptible to abuse, early warrior/chariot rushes and worker steals (I remember getting a double steal with Rome on turn 2-3).

I think it's a waste to settle on that great marble tile, especially when early Masonry is kind of a gimme with the great stone tile as well. I don't see any benefit in wonders except mids. Culture wars isn't going to be a problem with Louis in an OCC. Oracle isn't slinging anything deep (no big commerce tiles, lots of civs). Slinging Monarchy would be great with wine + OCC, except we can go mids-rep. I don't think CoL asap is that important with CRE library. I don't think an earlier forge is worth the GPP pollution. Not getting a scientist first would be a big loss.

Everyone is speaking about hammers.
But marble start has +7 more food ( not speaking even about the additional gold ) and this can be converted to hammers by whipping.
Isn't it or I don't understand something?

Keep in mind +4 of that food is from pigs next to Berlin; not guaranteed to get that early (though Oracle + holy city should get it in your borders eventually).

I tried Mining/Masonry (Mids) /AH/Writing --> Oracle(Aesthetics) for France and it works pretty well in terms of worker turns and happiness cap.

Edit: Btw, I think England > France for this map.

England can't steal first worker. And don't have marble. Is it really better?

I went Stonehenge, Mids, Jewish Shrine, Aesthetics. I think it's good.

How have you got Judaism before any of 6 civs starting with Mysticism and having 30% bonus on science?
Probably you can't expect on that without huge luck ( e.q. getting masonry from top hut), or am I missing something?

2080 BC, I have Judaism and am 3 turns away from the Pyramids.

Sorry. have you got Judaism at 2080? If yes - this was a big luck, as AI usually get it much earlier. Just tried several times - AI got it around 2500BC in 3 attempts, the longest was 2400BC.
I think 2080BC is really late for Judaism at this map.

Well, worker stealing is less effective on OCC as you'll be first gated by techs and then by city happiness cap.

Ind/Marble is nice for saving hammers on wonders and *possibly* securing additional world wonders, but based on my initial assessment, the results don't compensate enough for Phi/Fin tech strengths.

There are 3 other major reasons pre 1 AD I have spotted for England > France, but they are massive spoilers.

Fair enough. Yes, this is what happened. I only made the one attempt, so I wouldn't know the usual.
Do you have a plan for building National Wonders ? The game won't let me start on the Oxford University. This might prove to be a problem.

Did you already build 5 national wonders?

If you'll save your saves we can later compare Lisa/Louis game. Phi/Pin is of course the best possible pair of traits for this map, but I don't know is it compensates a good start or now.
