DGIT # 3 - The Emperor Level Strikes Back

Hmmm. Lookin' like a Pyramids landslide. Nice point on Madra for the wonder. We want to keep that pump going - nice job on the setup btw. I didn't want to spend the time on it, but it kind of frustrates that its not a 4 turn pump. Maybe if we had a bonus grass? 5 turns is keeping us ahead of the pack city wise anyhow.

Not too sure. My head is swimming with work issues at the moment. I presume you mean to build a worker and a warrior in 5 turns? Maybe, but I doubt it. Maybe SmellinCoffee can play with it.

I have successfully downloaded the saved game file. I have also met the ten-character limit for the first time. ;)

Busy week.

Inherited Turn- 1400 BC
Seems as if this was left unplayed; I will assume this is my first turn. Fortify Einstien until Delhi's Settler is done. Everybody and his brother's uncle has math. Ottomans have math and polytheism. We have Philosophy and Map-Making over everyone.

Turn 2- 1375
Nothing.

Turn 3- 1350
The Ottomans are already researching Philosophy (the price keeps going down) so I figure I might as well make the trade for Philo and Mathematics. We trade them and make 40 gold.

Turn 4- 1325
We start a board game of Monoply. Meet Iroquis while passing go. They know nothing; we have Phil and Map-Making over them.

Turn 5- 1300
Buy the B&B Railroad. If we own all four of them, we can make more money.

Turn 6- 1275 BC
Land on chance card; go to jail. We meet Xerxes there. He's just visiting. Same situation as everyone else. Found Park Avenue on the coast.

Turn 7- 1250 BC
Pay $50 to get out of jail; hook up horses. Ottomans learn Map-Making. D'oh.

Turn 8- 1225 BC
Remember I'm supposed to rush Pyramids. Oopsy.

Turn 9- 1200 BC
Complete the Pyramids. The overseer says he did it so fast using what's called an erector set. Look into this. Land on Padma's Waterworks utility. There's two big red hotels there. Ouch. Mayans buy Oracle.

Found Boardwalk.

Turn 10- 1175
Land on another one of Padma's hotel-laden deeds. We can't pay even if we mortage our deeds. Other players refuse to buy some of our stuff to help us out. Cheapskates. We kick over the game board.

Choose the steamship next time!

Nah, 1400 BC was my turn. I left some moves for you in case you had other ideas to setup . I indicated that in my turn log I thought. Anyhow, good job, although I hope the save doesn't load up a Monopoly save. Time to hit the Garden State Parkway and head toward Atlantic City...

Okay, now I can "get it." Will play tonight, post by tommorow. Hope no one minds if I spend my turns working on growth and only cranking out a skelton crew of units... cities baby, cities!

Build some forces up to clean out Ragnar. The third luxury is rightfully ours! And he has the best land for expanding. Otherwise its just tundra fishing villiages. Expansion is our focus, but to do so we need to take Ragnar out. Good luck!

Turn 0 (1175BC)
MM some cities. Able to shave a turn off of settler, at least until I re-mm the Capitol.:p
Change Bagalore from galley to horseman.
From this point on, besides MP warriors, ONLY build Horseman so we can upgrade to our Elephants.
Change Park Avenue and Lahore to Temple to get the Fish. They won't grow until they do. Also queueing Habor.
Boardwalk won't be worth much because of it's location. Change it to a 10-turn worker factory.
Madras doesn't need to be building a settler with Delhi all set up. Change it to Horseman.
Osman is up Poly on us. Everyone else we're up on Philo and Map Making. I think we're going Republic instead of Monarchy... this means limited wars, that are very quick. Our Elephants will help this.
Lux has to go up to 20 to make up for Bombay's size. Horseman will complete next turn. MM it to get us a Horseman every 5 turns.

IBT
Persia tells us to leave.
Bombay Horseman - > Horseman
Turn 1(1150BC)
Move archer s.
Send horseman to Madras.
Curragh keeps exploring.
Turn sci down to get CoL in 1, but pulling another 7gold.

IBT
Some movement by the AI in obscure places.
Iro start Colossues.
What? Somehow CoL didn't come in.

Turn 2 (1125BC)
Iro have Construction. Was going to trade Col for it and Poly, now I'll have to wait a turn. Home Ottomans and Iro don't trade. I don't think they can...
Worker moves to mine grassland near Delhi... this *MIGHT* with proper MMing get us that 4-turn factory.
workers irrigate cow near Calcutta.
fort archer in the City-Formerly-Known-as-Boardwalk.
Move units around to turn lux slider down to 10% again.

IBT
Maya ask us to leave.
CoL comes in.
Madras Horseman -> Horseman
Start research on Currency. This is usually a good trading tech, but I'm afraid the AI is going to go for it...

Turn 3 (1110BC)
Looks like the viks settled a city in the far north tundra.
MM some more.
Tell the viks to leave or declare. They leave.
Build Embasey with the Iro to see who their trading partners are.
Wow. Looks like he knows everyone... which means everyone probably already knows everyone else. Ouch. No brokering at all... that's the main reason i like islands.
We have no good trades on the market, even though the Ottomans and Iro both have 2 techs and we have techs they don't have... it's just the techs they have are worth so much more with the AI bonus. Going to have to wait til we get Currency... I think we should go full speed ahead in techs.

IBT
Lots of AI movement around the contient... nothing important.
Delhi Settler - > Settler

Turn 4 (1075BC)
Good, Iro trade Construction so it should be cheap enough to get. The only problem is they're only behind CoLs now. Ottomans are up Construction now too.
No where for our settler to go until we can declare on the Viks. Need a few more horseman though... only have 2 right now, but more coming. Next will be the one to declare and conquour.
Still can't get Poly. Instead I trade Iro CoL for Construction, then turn around and sell the ottomans CoLs for 111 gold, then the Mayans for 52 gold, and finally Persia for 14. Ottomans won't trade Poly for even 342 gold.:(
We're 2 techs away from the Middle Ages, but Ottomans will probably be us there... no SGL this game.

IBT
Bangalore Horseman -> Horseman
Iro start Statue of Zeus

Turn 5 (
Luxury has to go up to 30% to make up for Lahore being unhappy. Will need to get a road built their fairly quickly.
minor unit movements.

IBT
Bombay Horseman -> Horseman

Turn 6 (1025BC)
workers build mine on an irigate plain... in despotism???
To save some money, and because it's not hooked up I change Lahor to worker, with the loss of no shields. I freeze growth for 1 turn, just to keep it even.

IBT
Mayans kick us out.
Lahor riots, but I have the lux?! It makes it worker because all 10 shields were there, so riot will end next turn. No harm, no foul.
French start Great Wall

Turn 7(1000BC)
DAMN! Mayan took the city spot I wanted.:| Going to have to go for the second hill.
some unit movements, nothing major.

IBT
Madras Horseman -> Horseman
Rush Temple in Park Avenue.

Turn 8 (975BC)
some unit movements, nothing big.

IBT
Iro's kick us out.
Delhi Settler - > Settler
Park Ave Temple - > Worker
Boardwalk Worker -> Worker
Banglore Horseman -> Horseman

Turn 9 (925BC)
Tell Persia to leave. Move some units. Nothing major. Kinda boring.
5 horseman now outside of Trondheim, but their attacking across a river. SHould be enough though. Next Leader, I'd do it on your first turn... destroy the Viks I mean.

IBT
Iros ask us to leave.
Bombay Horseman -> Horseman
Mayans start great wall

Turn 10 (900BC)
Workers worker... move 1 on to the furs that have so far been unroaded... was moving him over there from the closest spot... 9 spaces away!! Anyway, road on your turn, and things will be much easier.

Not much to say on the pass-off. Just declare war... you have an assult force to do it now, and keep cranking out the horseman. Should be able to keep a steady stream going, and finish the viks off.

A bit of Eye candy...

Okay. Brain freeze here. Won't we lose a movement point crossing that river with our horses in the first place, meaning they won't be able to attack? And attack across the river? Trondheim, I imagine, would be pretty well defended. Our losses will be greater than we need them to be. If we have a spear in the area, after declaring, move the stack + spear SW onto plain (Viks probably attack, BUT across the river themselves), then horses can attack Trondheim without crossing river, but on 2nd move.

Nice job popping some more workers. We need them. :goodjob:

BTW, you want another SGL? We've already had one for Philosophy. ;) We'll catch up in tech. Our elephants will make sure of that!

Roster:
1)alerum68 <-- Just Played
2)-Oblivion- <-- Up
3)Blasphemous <-- skip until July 20 - maybe on deck?
4)SolarKnight
5)SandrockLQ
6)SpikeIt
7)Smellincoffee

Inherited turn:

Looking good, horseman near Ragnar's border. MM Madras so it can kick out horses in
4 turns with minimal waste, instead of 5 turns with lots of waste. Currency in 9
at -6 gpt.

Turn 1: 875 BC

Not much. Waiting one more turn for another horseman from Madras.
Build embassy in Trondheim, only 2 spears :D

Turn 2: 850 BC

Delhi Settler-Settler
Madras Horseman-Horseman
Calcutta Barracks-Horseman
Lahore worker-temple

Declare war on Ragnar. I don't attack this turn. Why across a river?

Turn 3: 825 BC

Battle of Trondheim:

First Horseman wins but is redlined
Second Horsman wins, is yellowlined and takes Trondheim!
No resistors

On the other side of the new Viking capital there is a Mayan iron colony!
When we capture or raze it, we must have it!

Found Jaipur

Turn 4: 800 BC

Get the FP message.
Bangalore Horseman-Horseman
Viking archer kills one horseman

Kill viking settler pair. Dam, there are settler pairs from other nations everywhere.
I cannot take these size 1 cities until i have a settler in position.

Turn 5: 775 BC

Persia declare on Iroquois. A little checking confirms Persia has no iron for immortals
and Iroquois has no horses for MWs :hmm:

I will attack Copenhagen next turn.

Turn 6: 750 BC

Madras Horse-Horse
Boardwalk Worker-Harbour

First Horseman attacks Copenhagen, wins but redlines, Copenhagen razed.
Settler in position for next turn.
Horse kills Viking warrior on hill.

Turn 7: 730 BC

Delhi Settler-Settler
Found Hyderabad. Kill Viking archer on mountain.

Turn 8: 710 BC

Calcutta Horse-Horse
Park Avenue worker-harbour

Turn 9: 690 BC

Currency comes in. Trade it to Osman for poly and 88 gold. We are in the MA!
Set research to Republic in 29 turns.

Very bad RNG luck at Stockholm. First horse retreats, second horse redlines but wins,
third horse dies with no damage, 4 horse dies with no damage and spear is now vet.
Reinforcements there already though.

Ragnar's tundra city is on an ivory :D Need a settler up there though..

Bangalore Horse-Horse

Turn 10: 670 BC

Ottomans in MA. There free tech was Monotheism.
Madras Horse-Horse
Bombay Horse-Horse

Aargh, this spearman in Stockholm is evil. Two more horses retreat, no damage done.
Need to regroup. Found Bengal.

Notes:

We had some terrible RNG luck at Stockholm. 4 horseman failing to take a single hitpoint off a spearman? It is on a hill, but still bad luck. I wouldn't raze Oslo until we have a settler up there to claim the ivory.

There are settler pairs from other civs crawling everywhere, so we need to raze then resettle.

We must destroy/capture Stockholm (It will have culture from Palace soon), then rush a temple or something to steal the Mayan's iron.

Good luck next player. Sorry about no eye candy.

Trondheim, the Viking capital - 2 spears and no resistors?!! How truly strange. At least it wasn't armed with uber spears as in Stockholm.

The Mayan iron will be nice to add. Great job. We are expanding out nicely it seems. Plus we have ivory for trading when needed which always helps.

We need to think about starting on our FP. Wouldn't an MGL from our Viking battles be well timed? Then again, a better investment would be in an army to help for the future.

Anyways, on to important matters:
1)alerum68
2)-Oblivion- <-- Just made Ragnar look silly.
3)Blasphemous <-- skip until July 20 or 26th
4)SolarKnight <-- UP
5)SandrockLQ <-- On deck
6)SpikeIt <-- SKIP from now until Aug 5
7)Smellincoffee

Until Blas checks in, he's a skip. If he did come back on the earlier date and can grab it before SolarKnight, then good for him. He could always slot into my spot since I'll be away.

Oh well, can't have the RNG favor you every time. Got the capitol which means they're going to fall pretty easily.

Blas, if you did come back today, go ahead and claim it.
