I couldn't resist.
I wanted to play another game and post it here. On deity.
-------------
Rounds Played:
Round 0: Starting position (this post).
Round 1: 4000 BC to 3150 BC (35 Turns) - Boxed In?
-------------
Here are some of the other games I have posted here:
Ramesses II-Emperor Difficulty (incomplete)
Darius I-Immortal Difficulty (Space race win)
Boudica-Immortal Difficulty (Domination win)
So for my first online deity game here, I used quite a strong leader, Gandhi. Phi + Spi is a powerful trait combo that leads for a strong specialist economy, which is absolutely crucial on deity. Spiritual is also a great trait for diplomacy, which is really your only defense early on in the game.
In addition to the above settings, I have also checked Locked Modified Assets. This is so that you all know that I can't use World Builder in this game. I never used WorldBuilder that much in the past (and not in the games I post here) but that option has just been ticked to stop me from entering World Builder in case I am really desperate. I am not going to waste my time nor yours with a game won because of World Builder. I am actually confused as to why not many other people who post online games here check the "Locked Modified Assets" box. It really should be a part of every game. A side effect of this is (according to oyzar) that people with different operating systems/custom assets/mods, etc can't load the game. I use Microsoft and have Blue Marble (only for leaderheads) and BUG in my game, but it seems that even if you don't have Blue Marble you can load the save.
Gandhi's Unique Unit and Unique Building (Fast Worker and Mausoleum respectively).
Here is the start I drew.
It's clear that this is another one of those Great Person farm capitals, which fits in nicely with my Specialist economy plan. I'm thinking of settling in place and researching Fishing while starting a warrior (Gandhi starts with Mysticism and Mining). I'm going to hold off researching Agriculture first even though that irrigated corn here beats seafood, because once my worker farms the corn, he will have nothing else to do. After Fishing, I'll probably research Hunting -> Archery for extra defense.
Or I COULD go Agriculture and then Archery.
Another thought.
As for my long-term game plan, I'm not sure. Philosophical and Spiritual seem to help in almost any victory condition -- Space, Cultural, Domination, and so on. I guess I'll have to see the map to find out.
I am now processing all the information I have together in order to effectively create a pre-game strategy.
-We are Mahatma Gandhi of the Indian empire who is Philosophical (+100% Great People generation rate and double production speed of universities) and Spiritual (No anarchy and double production speed of temples).
-Our Unique Unit, the Fast Worker, replacing the standard worker, lasts the whole game and will especially be great for chopping, as they can move onto a flatland forest and start chopping it the same turn even if there is no road.
-Our Unique Building, the Mausoleum, replaces the Jail and will be of excellent use in wartime as it further boosts happiness.
-We start with Mysticism and Mining
-Our start has plenty of surplus food to use for specialists
-Our start has a plethora of forests to use for chopping workers, settlers, and/or wonders.
-Our start will possibly have only one strategic resource or none at all.
-Our start will be slow because we need Bronze Working and Fishing to improve the capital.
-Our start has only 3 hills and a cow for production, along with forests.
-Our start has plenty of grasslands, meaning that either farming them or cottaging them could work.
-Our start cannot utilize that second fish to the north.
-The computer's blue circle to the south suggests that there may be a strategic resource nearby.
-There are a string of peaks visible in the southeast, which bodes well for early-game protection from both barbarians and AI's.
-We need Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, but Fishing and Bronze Working in this scenario have a higher priority.
-Barbarian galleys will be an issue and galleys of our own will need to be created, or even better, triremes.
-Barbarian land units, however, might not be as much of an issue depending on where the coast is and how it is shaped.
-We have some nice floodplains nearby for a good second city location. An Oasis nearby also gives freshwater so we might not have to settle on a river
-Health will not be an issue early on with the food visible.
-The wine nearby may make Monarchy a higher priority than it normally is.
-This is a fractal map, so we run the risk of being isolated. Or we could be on a pangea.
-Diplomacy will be slightly harder, as Gandhi is the only AI who never gives demerits to humans when they refuse demands. For obvious reasons, the Gandhi AI will not be appearing in the game. This also decreases the probability of (a) peaceful leader(s) in the game.
-We will probably need to utilize the capital's surplus food to build National Epic and generate Great Scientists, which will be useful in the Liberalism race.
-Our warrior should probably move 1NE, to confirm if that tile in my starting BFC is a grassland or a plain.
-We will pop a hut, likely for around 80-100 gold because of how this is Epic speed. This can help finance an early second (or third) city.
-Oil is probably not near our capital because of the abundant fish.
-The Moai statues should probably go in another city.
Finally, I hope to get some great advice here, and I ask that if you want to comment, please do so. The last 2 immortal games I posted here didn't seem to be particularly active. I'm not sure if it was a lack of interest, or for another reason. But I will need all the help I can get here.
The same rules apply here for spectators. Please keep shadowed games in spoilers.
(Remember, the game has locked modified assets so you need what I have in my game in order to load it, which is as far as I can recall only Blue Marble and BUG, and you might not even need Blue Marble to open up my game.)
