Voted for the following:

God, Heaven, Hell* (although the LDS version of hell is different from a lot of other Christian tradition), Biblical Prophesies, Manmade Global Warming, Evolution, Big Bang, Gravity, Moon Landing, Love after Love.

Draw whatever conclusions you want from that.

What about voting for "none of the above" when you have already voted for some of the above? :)

Because I can. :p The last option is clearly a joke option since some of the options are opposed to each other, so if you don't vote one, then vote the other.

God, Heaven, Hell. Certainly. According to my particular definitions. So, that depends on which day you ask me.

YEC, Flood, Rapture. Certainly not. Unless there's something severely wrong with current common sense.

Prophecies. Trash or self-fulfilling.

AGW. Sure.

Theory of Evolution. Sure. But even YECists believe the theory exists.

Big Bang = current creation mythology, with a lot of supporting observation and theory. So yes. For the time being.

Theory of Gravity. Whose theory? Newton's? Then no, because of the difficulties with force at a distance. Current? Then space-time distortions - and don't get me started.

Aliens. Bigfoot = Loch Ness monster = Yeti. Show me one.

Dead people. Communication amongst living people by any means would be novel.

Tarot reading. Sure. Why not? As good as psychology any day.

Moon landing. Genuine.

Roswell. Fake.

Extinction of Human Race. Inevitable.

Interstellar Migration. Extremely unlikely.

Love after love. Sure. I'm in a permanent state of being in love.

:)

Bigfoot - No
Communicating with dead people through mediums - No
Tarrot reading - No
Man landing on the moon - Yes
UFO(s) in Roswell - No (Hasn't this already been debunked?)
Extinction of the Human Race - Voted No, thought it meant in the next hundred years or so.
Interstellar Migration of Human race - Yes
Love after love - Yes

Theory of Evolution
Big Bang Theory
Theory of Gravity
Man landing on the moon

These are stuff that you don't have to believe into: you know they are true due to scientific proof and, especially in the case of men landing on the moon, we have direct witness and material remaining to make sure that it actually happened.

Intelligent Aliens visiting Earth
I wasn't sure what you meant...
As in, they've ALREADY visited?

That's how I took it, and voted no.

If it is, will they eventually, well, yeah, eventually is a long time.

And some people are lying... they voted for Theory of Gravity, currently at 100%, and then also none of the above... it's like some kind of presidential election or something... the numbers never seem to add up.

Let's see.

God -probability is greater than zero but the God as described by popular religion is highly unlikely.
Heaven -possible but not as described by religion
Hell -not likely
Young Earth Creationism -disproven by geological records
The Biblical flood -there have been mass extinction events but the Biblical flood is not in evidence outside of the bible.
Other prophecies (Mayan Calendar, Nostradamus) highly unlikely but who knows for sure
Manmade global warming -Yes, of course this is about as good as science gets
Theory of Evolution -Yes, we evolved. Do I believe in a random start to the process? No.
Big Bang Theory -Yes
Theory of Gravity -Yes
Alien lifeforms -Yes (highly probably but not yet in evidence)
Intelligent Aliens -Yes (likely not yet in evidence)
Intelligent Aliens visiting Earth (low to medium probability and not yet in evidence)
Bigfoot -Maybe somewhere in the universe. Earth might not have a monopoly on primates.
Communicating with dead people through mediums -Low probability but not out of the question
Tarrot reading -No on getting reliable results but it can be entertaining
Man Landing on the Moon -Yes, missed this one when voting.
UFO(s) in Roswell -No, it was a government project not aliens.
Extinction of the human race -Possible but hasn't happened yet
Intersteller Migration of the Human race -Possible but not in evidence
Love after love -I suppose it is possible.

Well, all I can say is that if some cataclysmic event does happen on Dec 21st, Nasa are going to look a bit silly. Assuming there's still a Nasa to look silly, that is.

I'm quite looking forward to it. :)

Love after love? I had to read up on what that is. Ew ew ew ew ew. I need a shower.

Dec 21st, 2012 probably deserves its own thread. There's going to be a lot of wackos going crazy about it just before that day comes.

If we had a choice between a sudden end and a slow dying from drought/famine brought on by climate change, I would pick the sudden end.

Love after love? I had to read up on what that is. Ew ew ew ew ew. I need a shower.
Oh right????!!!!!

Then I've completely misunderstood.

Love after Love

The time will come
when, with elation,
you will greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other’s welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was your self.
Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

all your life, whom you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart.
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,
peel your own image from the mirror.
Sit. Feast on your life.

~ Derek Walcott ~
Well, it is a bit mawkish. But I don't feel in need of a shower. Well, no more than usual.

Still, I'm no good with poetry. What's he saying?

That you're the real business for yourself. That loving another is doing yourself down? That seems a bit odd, tbh.

But perhaps it means something more profound than that? :)

God - not ruled out, but if so then in a deist sort of way. Don't actively believe in it though.
Heaven/Hell - I don't think an afterlife exists.
Young Earth Creationism - discredited pseudoscience.
The Biblical flood - global flood no, it's possible that the biblical record refers to a historical local event.
The Rapture - no.
Biblical Prophecies/Other prophecies (Nostradamus) - no to prophecies in general.
Manmade global warming - global warming is a scientific fact, and that it is caused by humans as well. Several quantitative predictions of the consequences should be taken with a grain of salt, though, imo.
Theory of Evolution - the core principle of diversification through natural selection is undisputable, and all criticisms from people who reject evolution outright have been dispelled. Of course there are still aspects where open questions exist.
Big Bang Theory - all physical evidence points to the simple fact that the universe originated from a single point. What exactly happened in these first fractions of a second is still unknown and I don't subscribe to a particular hypothesis about it. (The sitcom is awful though, so I disbelieve it in hopes that it goes away.)
Theory of Gravity - I suppose it's meant within classical circumstances, so yes.
Alien lifeforms - I don't think life is that unlikely, considering the size of the universe.
Intelligent Aliens - I don't think intelligence is that unlikely, considering the size of the universe.
Intelligent Aliens visiting Earth - as far as we know FTL travel is impossible, and the distances and possible lifespans of civilizations involved will make any contact between intelligent life forms impossible.
Bigfoot - it's actually Reinhold Messner.
Communicating with dead people through mediums - no afterlife, no communication. Also, mediums are frauds.
Tarrot reading - an efficient scam.
Man landing on the moon - can be easily proven without relying on allegedly faked footage.
UFO(s) in Roswell - as above, no.
Extinction of the Human Race - eventually, yes. Voted no because I thought it means within the next several centuries.
Interstellar Migration of Human race - maybe possible with sleeper ships et al. But even so the colonies would be isolated, and since the question implied some sort of actual interstellar civilization I voted no.
