Left Side: Deposing Louis XVI
Right Side: Keeping Louis XVI

This is the question that formed the political left and the political right, and it's the standard by which they should always be judged.
I guess that makes me left then. Down with all monarchs!

Are we talking legally, or culturally?
Well speaking personally and anecdotally as someone born in Guyana, it's WAY easier legally speaking for a Guyanese person to emigrate to the US than to the UK. Even though Guyana was a former British colony and is still a commonwealth member. And even though, on independence in 1966, all Guyanese people were given the option of having a British passport or a Guyanese passport. Crazy isn't it?

Nope!

We need to maintain our culture and nation, we can't just let any old vagabonds in (unless they are EU citizens).

Like your colonials?

Yeah cos the commonwealth isn't part of British culture or history or anything.

The remnant of imperialism and exploitation, not something to be cherished.

This forum backs up my point though, I'm sure you've seen American posters call Europe socialist, they see us as quite left wing.
I've seen a handful of out-of-touch right-wing cranks called Europe socialist. I haven't seen "America posters", collectively, make any such proclamation.

You'll be off back to Germany then, eh, Sassenach? :p

..Anglo-Saxon wipe out theory is a fraud TF. The English and lowland scots do not originate from Deutschland, they are predominately romano-Brito stock ;) Learn your history!

You're like that annoying kid in 5 a side game, you just move the goalposts everytime, I have to get a collective statement from all the American posters now. (god knows how they can be out of touch politics)

Didn't think you'd be supporting my point (also go back to Ireland).

If I had to pull a gut reaction out of my rear TF I would say most Americans I know have less of a problem with Europe's social spending and tax rates and more discomfort with the perception of less protection for freedom of speech, rights to arm, and religious practice. Even in the center of Islamophobe country I haven't met one person that would have supported a burqa ban.

True that.

I'm not even sure how many people in France supported that.

Happens all the time. Perfectly normal bodily function.

Eh, those verbs. So socialist.
