An election is coming up here in about a week in Missouri. These off elections don't tend to really draw in the voters unless there is a HUGE issue on the table such as gay marriage, concealed carry, or in this case stem cells.

The poll is a simple question. Do you vote? Do you try to make a difference? Because I'll tell you what, I am there at every election (okay, maybe I miss one every few years, but virtually all of them) voting my views. It isn't only the "big" elections such as Senate, Congress, and President that matter. I vote for people with my views for school boards, hospital trustees, and so forth. Rest assured, if you think differently than me, you'd better be there at every election trying to counter my vote (or someone like me). It's power, pure and simple, and I wield it at every opportunity. So again, I ask you.... do you vote?

I vote in every election.

I'm actually not old enough to vote in the US, yet. I will be by the '08 elections though, so American democracy better lookout. ;) I plant on voting at least for the Congressional and Presidential elections, as for more local ones, it will depend upon where I live, and how difficult it is to register for various elections.

I would say, but this is a public poll, so I will refrain.
But I find voting in all elections very important to me.

Always ....

Its the only time your word counts, so why not?

Boycotting election is the best way to not get what you want.

I am not opposed to a moderator switching that flag if it is possible now so as to hide the votes. I apologize for setting it like and will keep that in mind for future polls I may do. Turner, or any other mod, could you make the voting secret?

(though my counter-point guy in me says you should have the cajones to vote and be proud of how you voted...but then my COUNTER-counter-point guy in me says "hey, private voting is as American as apple pie and girls losing their virginity on prom night!")

I will usually only vote in "big" elections. But I decide what is "big". I vote on some city things that I view as important as presidential elections. However, there are some that I let pass by because neither side has a good reason of why people should bother with it IMO.

I will be voting for the upcoming senate poll for Claire McCaskill. WHat is the election coming up in a couple weeks?

August 8th. It is the primary election for Missouri where the parties will be deciding who their candidates will be for the general election. Additionally, it will have the big stem cell initiative vote as well as the usual local and county issues (which of course vary by county and municipality).

You mentioning McCaskill... I have to say this is one election that I am feeling good about as no matter if McCaskill wins or Talent wins, I will be content that Missouri is well represented by a dedicated public servant, even if I don't see eye to eye with them on a lot of issues. There are not many Democrats I'll say that about.

Ah, that explains all these weird poll like phone calls I have been getting concerning economy, stem cell research, political stance, labor force, etc. :P

There is no need. I'm just one man amongst many.

And I'm curious about your counter-counter-point guy's assertation that Girls losing their viginity on prom night is very American. I must come out of my shell I suppose...

I used to, now i'm questioning myself why bother. So i voted that. But i know i will vote in 2007 no matter what.

Edit - Actully i only ever voted so people like Le Pen wouldn't get past the 2nd turn. Unfortunaly he managed too last election.

I'm kind of pessimist. I see politicians only truly aiming at their own agenda and career.

Sorry, can't do it. Once the flag is set you can't change it.

There have been three elections in Ohio since I turned 18. I voted in my two local elections, and didnt see much of a point in doing the party primaries. Neither of the democrats really had any opposistion, and I was out of state at the time, so voting absentee was just too much of a hastle.

I plan to vote as often as I can. I actually follow local goverment pretty close...I'm gunning for their jobs :)

Ah! A future Skymarshal, good for you! Just remember, you're working for your constituency, not the other way around!

Eh, no biggie. Just thought I'd help Tycoon come out of his shell and vote :).

I would vote even if it wasnt compulsory here.

What countries make voting compulsory? I wish that it was that way in the USA... It's a pity that we have a negligible turnout ratio.
