Some protesters disrupted an auction of properties that had been repossessed by banks and was being run by an English auction house in Dublin last year. Mr D'Arcy invoked a patriot who fought and died against the English in his cause. Except that he got her name, sex and death wrong.
Constance Markievicz was a woman who was elected as an MP in 1918, was Ireland's first female minister and she died of an illness several years after independence.

Mr D'Arcy is standing for the European Parliament elections in Dublin.
He also has judgements of many millions of Euros against him after failed property investments.
