Your description was great Alex :)

And also Seon is it alright if I keep you where I've provisionally placed you at the southern tip of that area? DE already took that place.

Dinzini Estate Backgound

Dinizini roots go back to Druethnia. The oldest member of the family on record was Tyranis Dinzini who was a general in the wars against Estor. He was considered a wonderful general by his men, and a terrible one by the loose government. Tyranis, contrary to his name, did everything to preserve his men. Though winning every battle he had fought, he spent most of his time avoiding battles and trying to outmanuever the enemy. He was succesful for the most part, and when he was not, he always found himself on the high ground, well fortified, and prepared for battle. The day came when this was not the case. Estor had set a trap. Tyranis was avoiding an Estor castle, moving through the woods, as the roads were full of Estor reinforcements moving towards the front. Out of nowhere he was ambushed by the enemy. An army was lying in wait in the forest, reinforcements left the road and charged from the side, and the only way to retreat was towards the fort. Tyranis surrendered without putting up any kind of resistance. He did not want his men hurt. The men were executed anyway, but Tyranis was preserved as an officer for prisoner exchange. When he returned to Druethnia, he was questioned about his loss. The warlords decided that he had a chance because the enemy lines were thin and that he could break through. It was unforgiveable, in thier eyes, to have surrendered, especially since the army was destroied anyway. Tyranis was exiled with his family. The church labled him a coward and ostrasized him. The Dinzini family fled to the Dorian Empire where they settled and climbed through the ranks of the empirical troops. They were taken in by the Astrovadean Church and became citizens of the Dorean Empire.

The Dinzini Nobility started out with a small plot of land on the edge of the Dorean Empire. The land and the promotion were gifts from the Emperor to General Pilinous Dinzini in honor of his fifty years of defending the border with Estor. Though only deflecting only small invasions and winning border scrimages, such a long career with a perfect record of victories, meritted, in the opinion of Emperor, a gift of land. The Emperor lost his post to a contestor and tried to launch an assault on the capital to retake the throne. He expected Philip Dinzini, son of the general, to help him in this, considering the service he provided to his grandfather. Philip, however had no wish to break the law and lead his small army on the side of the new Emperor. Though, he had a small army, he was a military genious. His army was always exactly were it could do the most damage: ambushing reinforcements, dismantaling the supply roads, recruiting or burning enemy vilages, and the old favorite: attacking the enemy from the rear as he was beating the larger armies never failing to turn the tide of the battle. The new emperor recognised these actions as the most efficient use for such a small army in the war and gifted part of the enemy lands. The rest of the lands was accumulated through scrimages with Estor and other dukes.

Though starting out a violent family, the Dinzini's have enjoyed nearly a century of peace, prefering to hunt and build rather than fight. Relations with Estor were amended. Small trade began to occur between the prior enemies. Alexander Dinzini has recently inheritted the estate from his father, and though a little more agressive, no great change in policy is expected from him.

Domino....
Lands of Domino. These lands and surrounding areas were ruled by a families, who are not even worth in the historic annals. 'Lupus' was a separate branch of a rather poor family line. And a very weak branch. With even weaker claim. Most of the "nobility" of Lupus lived in not much better houses than peasants. A house of peasants. A filthy blooded house. A pathetic family. Clan of Mutts. That's how Lupus family members were treated as. It was difficult for them to marry. It was difficult to remain intact as a family. But Lupus keep together.

But then the plague came. Small in size, it did not spread very far from lands of Domino. But much of the local nobility died. A plague what left Lupus alone. Untouched. A Blessing of Heavens to the clan of halfbreds and a path to hell to those who laughed over them.

And Lupus was only family left with enough prestige and numbers to claim these areas. There was no need for another family to claim these areas, because no one around these areas wanted, other families to get stronger. So now, Lupus controls these areas. A weak family. With a pathetic claim. And then fate showed mercy to them. And gave them a fighting chance. Now they lead Dominon. They lead it towards future. But can a weak line of halfbloods, become strong clan of wolves?

Lupus domini. Lords of the Wolf.

Yeah if you wouldn't mind. And yeah, with the apparent fertility of your House it could be easy to loose track of them all :p

Leader: Duchess Alleluia Nymphadora Promesky.
Age: 32 years.
Traits: Healthy, Extremely Promiscuous, Mother of 15.

Heir(ess): Lady Narcissa Promesky.
Age: 15 years.
Traits: Healthy, Extremely Attractive, Raised by her Mother (and much like her).

Every noble family has their own oddities; The Promesky Lineage is certainly no exception. The Lineage has always been led by a female, and their duchesses never (or seldomly) marries. Yet they are not lacking in children!

The Promeskys are, fittingly, extremely promiscuous. The current Duchess of Paradise Shore, Lady Alleluia, has 15 children with 13 different men - impressive even by Promesky standards. The daughters are raised by their mother and live in her household, whereas the sons are raised each by his own father, who is often a minor noble of the Duchy.

This tradition does of course generate some animosity from the Church and other, "finer" noble houses, but the Promesky make up their lack of celibacy by providing the Empire with one of the largest stocks of Noble knights, and their men are renowned commanders and defenders of the Realm.

Another strange thing is that the vigorous breeding seems to somehow tear the Promeskys less than other women, even noble women. For as long as the bloodline has existed, Promeskys have been renowned for their beauty, vigor and longevity. It is rumoured that in their veins run blessed blood, heathens even swear that it is the blood of an old and nameless God. And certainly, the Promesky seem to have a natural understanding of the body; They are renowned for their doctors and for the horse breeders, and many of the members of their family have an almost supernatural understanding of the human body.

They are truly an exceptional breed.

D: But I've yet to post my background! Wait!

Among House Lyonod turncoat is not an insult, but a sign of wise conduct. Long before the Lyonod became noblemen they were arms merchants and war profiteers. The great sires of the current Duchess participated in the Dorean and Estor rebellion by selling arms to rebels and Isandrians alike. Following the 'peace' established by the new Dorian Empire the Lyonod fueled the petty conflicts of noblemen, always keeping to their motto "All Gold is Golden". This has held true for generations and Duchess Cassille is no better or worse than her progenitors. What separates her from her forefathers is her upbringing inside the noblility rather than from the outside looking in. Cassille represents the surprisingly elegant transition of the merchant-class Lyonod into proper lordlings. Albeit, they remain on the fringes of the empire, but Lyonod ambition--and more importantly Lyonod gold--has never known bounds.

The Liffelthim, a Junior branch of the Ancient House of Liffel, were appointed marcher-barons of this land by the Emperor when he conquered the area many centuries ago; since, they have built up trade, and, using their position between the two rivers, became rich and inherited or obtained in a variety of other ways much of the House of Liffel's former land, as well as making conquests (albeit more meagre than they probably should have made as marcher barons) into the North, although, all in all, conquests to the North were mainly made by other marcher barons, and so the Duchy of Phinte (the Ducal title being granted when the land was nowhere near the frontier) became a central area of the kingdom.

The Liffelthim continue to pride themselves on their wealth and industry (although in recent years this has been tempered by thrift and conservatism, and they are satisfied with restoring their old palaces rather than building new ones). They maintain a well-equipped but not enormous army, with a good proportion of cavalry made up of the local gentry.

Stats, Cities, and the Opening Map are now present in the OP. The two NPC's are unclaimable at least for now so no one try to sign up for them.

Please if you haven't already done so get your background descriptions in!

Pvatailles is not a rich province, and the Reggents are not a rich house. It is the men of the line that made them the equals of the other dukes, that saw them rise from the low nobility to a step below the throne itself. They are cruel in war, magnanimous in victory, unyielding in defeat. They sit on wooden thrones in feasting halls no greater than those of their vassals, and take less in tribute than they could. They reward their friends, hold long grudges, and value their integrity above anything else. They strive to be the ideal of a warrior prince, and are.

Could you explain different icons on map?

14dgdqr.jpg

1. What are the colorful blobs?
2. I see two kinds of NPC cities, some are "normal" looking others are slightly darker.
3. How does one take over control of cities? Do we need to gain seats in council? Or are we monarch-like and can simply invade? Do we need support of locality? What are different ways to do it?
4. Does rural landscape around towns provide taxes aswell?

Grow large and tall and always remember where your roots lie. That is the saying every Woodsire boy is taught from the day he is born, the second thing a woodsire boy is taught is either to lead if he is a first born or to be led for all the rest. All learn to fight.

Grow large and tall is simple to understand. A woodsire must always look to expand his influence and power, and most of all his prestige above others. Yet along with this call for renewal lies a simple truth. The roots are what holds the Dukedom together. It is in the woodsire forests, hundreds of years ago, where the woodsires grew to become one of the oldest living dynasties in Dorea.

Duke Cedaris Nok was a first born to his own father and so he was born to rule his family. His five brothers quickly stand behind him in any matter worth speaking of and his own first born, Oakis Nok, is already attending the best education and fighting masters any son of a duke knows right in Graede academy for the young rulers born.

The dukedom is simple in how it is ruled. The Duke is the supreme ruler of his territory and his word, as far as the common folk knows, is the orders of the emperor and church.

Good questions, thanks for them.

In my last post I indicated that the map key will come later today. I'll try and get that up in a bit. The colourful blobs are resources, the black icons are towns, cities and castles.

Cities, which are the larger icons surrounded by a black border, generally change hands through elections. These happen every turn in every city. Every city you control provides an extra vote in the Electoral Court (which chooses the Emperor). With no cities, you have only one vote. Cities can be taken by force but this is seen as a breech of tradition and can result in damage to the prestige of your faction. Towns and Castles are simply conquered, and you gain prestige for doing so.

Income is generated by resources, towns and cities. Empty land does not provide income, although annexing it still provides a small amount of prestige.
