I forget sometimes that everyone isn't American.

And that person died (I'm pretty sure).

I'll join!

Ruler: Their Most Benevolent Graces, the Duke Eisen I and the Duchess Daphne II (brother and sister and NOT MARRIED TO EACH OTHER)
House of Mencia
Whatever color you want.
Wherever you want me as long as it fits my background story :)

The House of Mencia traces its ever most humble origins to a member of the minor nobility whose claim to fame, and power, was his long service as flag-bearer to Astromun the Devout. When victory came, and the Hastrovard Dynasty became firmly cemented, the House of Mencia counted as one of its strongest supporters. Granted vast estates by the Emperor, the Mencia of Langara cultivated and settled large territories. Involving themselves in everything from weapons-manufacturing to wine-fermenting, the House of Mencia profited greatly from the peace.

For a time, the Mencia were said to be second to only the Emperor in the Empire. Yet all good things must come to an end; when the Empire intervened in Zolrieke, the sole son of the then Duke was slain in battle. Left with only daughters and fearing for his House's continuance, the Duke sought long-forgotten tales of mythic heroes to justify his daughter succeeding him. Strife occurred and civil war did neigh strike upon the daughter's succession but for the intervention of the Emperor.

The years have gone by, and while their beloved Hastrovard Dynasty is no more, the Mencia still stand. The Mencia once stood for tradition, and argued vehemently for the continuation of a True Empire at the conference that decided the Electoral Court. Yet even they, the erstwhile defenders of the past can sniff the winds of change on the horizon...

Wait, wait--they're married and brother and sister?

OOC: Not married, simply siblings ruling jointly.

How come we can't be on of the islands, I wanted another crack at the inevitable pirates that show up :p

Because I believe they are simply claimed by the Empire not really stable enough to be duchies yet (IIRC).

It also means that it's the den of the scummiest pirates of this world. BURN EVERYTHING TO THE GROUND THERE.

That is so like you can't we just invite them for tea flavored with cyani...almonds and discuss it like peaceful people?

Mirsara/qoou
Ruler: Heowth of Mirsara
Dynasty: Heowth
Color: #C0FFEE (the hex code, not the plant)
Location:

Background story:

Half a century ago, the Mirsara was just a minor city merchant family. Their meager profits were just enough to send Heowth to a war college. Yet there, Heowth of Mirsara truly distinguished himself. Quickly rising through the ranks, by the age of 35 he had become one of the most valuable generals of the Kingdom. With the Mosovids beginning to raid the far eastern reaches of the empire, the Emperor assigned Heowth to a permanent post near the border. By the time the Emperor's term had come to an end Heowth had managed to more or less secure the eastern border. Impressed by Heowth's achievement, the succeeding Emperor granted him the whole of the eastern borderland along with the title of Duke.

Over the years, Heowth continued to fight off the unorganized Mosovid raids and managed to even make territorial gains. Now 65 years old, he commands a loyal powerbase and stands to be inherited by his strong, educated son. He has secured his standing with the Pareya by erecting multiple churches and converting the populace of his conquered land. Naturally, he deeply respects the office of the Emperor, and this respect tends to be reciprocated. Other Dukes, however, dismiss the Mirsara as uneducated boors, poking fun at their Spartan lifestyle and their general lack of gauds.

Okay wow! That makes 15 which is great! I'm still happy to take reserve players, who will be asked to take over from potentially dormant players or fill other roles within the game, but for now at least, main sign ups are closed.

Can all players please provide me with a short background giving a little bit of flavour to their duchy and/or dynasty. I'll need all these done before I can write the opening update and get this thing moving at last! :)

Eko.

I wouldn't mind being a reserve player, if you'd accept me

Will try but limited to smartphone for the weekend.

OOC: Was my description sufficient or would you like something longer?

Background edited into post. Please don't drive me too bankrupt with the army maintenance cost :/.
