Emperor SG?

Ugh...definitely one of the most difficult turnsets I've ever played...sorry if it's not perfect. As you will see, it was full of "what the @#$%?!!?!" moments.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Turn 0 (50 AD):
Step 1 - Bust open Mapstat and Civ3.

About the whole GPT thing, all was well until the last turn (we even had a surplus), then suddenly it dropped like crazy... And that was with only building one unit and no improvements during the IBT??? I decided not to deal with it and leave it for you, I was already exhausted (mentally) from the grueling warfare.

Under the given circumstances you did quite well, I think. It was not easy. And with another army the result is quite good.

I think getting into Republic soon would ease our cash woes. I don't see monarchy as necessary since this isn't AW so WW won't stack and as far as unit support, our stack is almost overkill, at least during my turnset it was. I never used more then half the units.

I strongly disagree. Republic won't help us with unit support at this stage. It would completely cripple our economy.

With two armies available, we sould have no trouble with our enemies for quite a while.

And at some point we want to capture The Great Library to get us a bunch of techs.

This is just Emperor and we can handle things, I believe.

Can we even afford Monarchy at ths time? We need space to spam cities and it'll take the big military to get that space. I think we will not be revolting soon. The unit support issue came from losing towns. Anyway, I will start play Friday.

IBT: Sumerians complete GL in Lagash.

130 BC (1): Raise the Luxury slider to keep Edrine content. We need more MP's. Give Iznik a taxman. Take a couple shot's at a stray archer but miss both times. No attack.

IBT: Russian's begin GL.
What is going on here with the GL? Interesting game. I played a few turns Greek war started. Conquer time!

I just noticed that the Sumerian's have the GL. This will save us much gold if we capture it. I think they need to be bumped up on our list of who to strike.

Even when the Greeks are gone, do we have to declare on India, with the war in Russia and all. I think we can find a loophole. I think the two rules are we have to declare in the order we meet them. The one I am not sure about is "must always be at war." Could we get away with saving India until Russia is done?

Sandbagging India not in the spirit of the game.

Arathorn's Comprehensive Guide to Variants said:
Non-Oscillating War (NOW): The first civ met must have war declared on them during initial diplomacy. Each later civ met gets added, in order, to a list. When the first AI civ on the list is eliminated, war must be declared on the second. As each is eliminated, the next must be declared on before the end of the turn. Other wars are allowed, and alliances are encouraged. Sandbagging or not finishing off a defeated foe simply to not go to war with the next one on the list is illegal. When two or more civs are met simultaneously (via contact sale, perhaps), it is player's choice which order to declare on them.

Aww...

Don't worry, it may be hard to get Greece eliminated in 4 turns, India might give a leave or declare immediately. There is nothing in the rules saying you must declare war on a third civ to get to a target civs last city. Also, I noticed that India has an island town, so we will have to build boats to finish them.
Edit: Finished, still rough going. See the tun-log here:

Never really tried NOW, but it would seem you could DOW Summeria at anytime, prior to their turn. What I am not sure about, is can you make peace with anyone at anytime as long as they are not at the the top of the list?
