End of Empires - N3S III

Void... Another story to come.

On that topic, to what extent can we declare "here's a character, and he made a bunch of cool discoveries?" And not philosophy wise, scientifically wise. Should we ask you first? (should I assume Cannae and others asked you first?) Or should we just accept you'll mark it in the update, and we can follow up, with the addenum that we can suggest developments in orders? I know you refused to let me discover gunpowder via Wertus blowing himself up and an assistent saving the notes for later use :p. What if I just wrote a story like that without consulting you?

On another note, Atandro is offered a sizable wage, pension, and bounty to teach at the Academy and work at the Zarpe Observatory. He shall be granted several servants -- a scribe, a maid, several wives -- as a matter of course, and depending on his prominence housing can be arranged. Vacations and trips are allowed and, indeed, expected, but Atandro is also expected to teach each order of students at least once before they graduate. Our facilities are top notch and indeed, the best in the region, with consistent funding and a wide audience.

Yeah, you should definitely ask before doing stuff like that. A Rihniti astronomer inventing heliocentrism is probably fine, but observing a planet's transit is about a millennium too early -- not to mention you don't have nearly enough technological prerequisites to make it happen (what's he supposed to do, stare straight at the sun?). I don't like to shoot stuff down straight away, Cannae, but that's way too advanced for this time. Don't use your OOC knowledge of science to improve your position in game -- we're perfectly aware that everyone here knows that Coraia goes around Haiao; you shouldn't use that to inform your country's own discoveries.

Noting that I still watn the income estimate if at all possible.

Alright then. Apologies about being impatient- I just wanted to confirm that it was still somewhere on your To Do list, even if it wasn't high.

Sianai is now dead, and there is no remaining threat to the restoration of the rightful Moti authority throughout the South of the World. You have had your time of autonomy during the weakness of Sixth-Gaci, but with the ascension of Frei that time is now at an end. There will be no more negotiations, and no more talking. Recognize the Chief-of-Chiefs of the Moti as your overlord, and you his subjects, in perpetuity. You are not as free allies, or as equals, for that is not your right, for your exatas is utterly insufficient.

You have sought to overthrow the Empire's control of the South and weaken its rightful authority, and your conspiracy will now be brought to an end. If you refuse the path of peace and submission to the rightful authority of the Rulers of the World, I and my allies will be forced to destroy you.

FROM: Caron Nuvor, Lord Protector of Gallat

I humbly would point out to my Lord Redeemer that the Karganai, at least, have significant territorial holdings in Athis. Lying as they do north of the sea, these holdings clearly fall under the dominion of the Lord of the North of the World. Should not the Federation also be required to recognize and do homage to the overlordship of the Lord Redeemer for these areas? For surely the Federation holds the Peko by leave of the Redeemer, and not of the Ayasi.

Your exatas has been amply shown in your dealings with the Airani, which lends merit to your argument.

I had not thought to force the Fivefold Council to do homage to myself unless they openly defy me, afraid as they are of becoming the slaves that their ancestors were. Still, as the Gallatenes and Airani are my proxies and representatives in the matters of Athis, I would consider it fit for the representatives of the Farubaida in the Peko to do homage to my tarkanai Caron and Ibala in my stead, and further to recognize that while the lands of the Peko might be granted to them by Reppaba, they hold those lands only by your consent and mine, which can be withdrawn if a lack of proper homage is given in all these matters.

For in the hierarchy of things, the Treaty of Magha supersedes the Treaty of Reppaba in all ways, since the Treaty of Magha concerns itself with the division of the whole world, not simply its petty principalities.

Kargan, being as it is the center of the quadrants of the world, must do full homage to both North and South, or be destroyed by both.

Indeed, and we are pleased to learn of Sianai's death. Define what you view as overlordship. We have long possessed an understanding with the Lord of the South, that we are their loyal allies, and that we follow their leadership in times of trial.

Never have we sought to weaken our allies the Moti, and our sacrifices for their cause are measured in blood. Now that a new Chief-of-Chiefs has been established, we will speak with them. It is not your place to tell us what our relationship is with the Moti.

Tell us, what does this homage from the Peko Republic entail? It is obvious that we hold respect for the power of the Karapeshai Exatai and for Talephas, the widely-recognized Lord of the North.

We will not be forced into shameful servitude. We will continue to maintain the status that we have earned with the Moti through bloodshed, arms and diplomacy. We do not wish to see our will and capacity to rule in our own lands challenged, but if you doubt our will or capacity to rule and seek to usurp it, then we will demonstrate it, and fight for what is ours.

North King, I'd disagree with you entirely but I'll none the less very reluctantly remove it.

Just writing some notes down for consideration of y'all.

Peun- The Leun who live in Teoras, Tyrsias and Maraida, due to the rather deficient uniqueness (ha!) in their own culture, have adopted several Parthecan customs. The most important include Polygamy, A stronger family structure, the Parthecan Script and a modified Succession Tournament (instead of fight to the death, final challenge, if reached, is a Bullfight: most spectacular show wins.) The three cities/areas are also renamed Tenoraz, Tyrsicas and Maridan. Also, "guilds" as forms of inter-familal cooperation start spreading westward to Leun/Daharai proper.

Cosmology- The Earth and the Sun spin around each other. The Moon is their bastard child and spins around them both. The Stars are placed around the Earth, although too dim to see when the sun is visible.

General Parthecan History: Parthe will become somewhat Imperialist. After this dynasty ends a Republican era will arise, based on the Hasnuen/Buerocracy. Rivalry between Traditionaists/Navalists/Mercantalist/Militarist/Culturalists will continue to brew up. End result will either be a Republic, a fractured Parthe, a Third Kingdom, or a civil war (brewing or extent) for either the Republic or the Kingdom.

Private message, please. Terrance is just telling people his rough plans, for the sake of collaboration, I assume.

Is it okay to send several PMs worth of orders instead of one? If so, what's the limit?

We will require that the elders of the Telkathai-ta-Peko pay a yearly tribute to the Rosh Ibala and the Lord Protector Caron Nuvor, to be determined by their graces. This ensures that your lease on the lands of the Peko, being as they are in my dominion of the North of the World, is maintained.

Furthermore, we will require the establishment of a Karapeshai embassy in Reppaba, to be paid for at local expense, to determine that the rights of the Maninist minority are protected, and furthermore to allow the entry of Oracles to spread the practices of Ardavan to the people there. In addition, Wards for the Maninist communities in the Peko will be appointed exclusively by the High Ward, and given full access to those following the Path of Manin.

Thirdly, the leaders of the Telkathai-ta-Peko will travel to Atracta to do homage to Arteras, my scroll-bearer, and escort the commissioners of the new Karapeshai embassy to Reppaba.

Fourthly, the remaining leaders of the Farubaida will travel to Moti-city to swear eternal and undying allegiance, in times of peace and war, for themselves and their descendants, to the Chief-of-Chiefs of the Moti as the Ruler of the South of the World, and to all his heirs in perpetuity.

Finally, we will require the Union of Aitah and all other constituent parties owing loyalty to Kargan to rescind the prohibition on worship of Taleldil which has prevailed since the War of the Three Gods, throughout the Farubaida. In accordance with this we will require the free access of our Oracles to all of your communities, and the right to appeal to the final justice of the High Oracle in Siaxis, in the event of a dispute between locals of your nation and Taleldil's servants. This privilege of immunity from your laws will also apply to every Satar and loyal ashkevai-ta-Exatai who travels your lands.

This is with the understanding that the same privileges will not be afforded to you.

I am allowing you this chance at graceful submission and continued independence because many of your men fought at my side, and because my scribes have learned much from your worthier scholars.

To: Talephas, the Emperor of the Karapeshai Satar
From: the Exarch Eres, in the name of the Red Chamber and the People of the Republic

I have heard of the wisdom of the Emperor of the Karapeshai Satar, and I have heard of his honour and of his civility. Traits which become a sovereign, and which bring luster to a reputation yet bearing the tarnish of past ages. But word filters to my Chamber and to my ear that the Karapeshai Satar stir the dying ashes of war, and that it is their desire that that terrible pyre should be lit anew, and that more men should be heaped upon it.

How then should I reconcile these tales one with the other, noble Talephas? I have heard it said in my Chamber that you have demanded a great and shameful tribute from the Carohans and the Helsians - a tribute which you know in your heart is undeserved. I shall ask you plainly, is peace and plenty your great desire, or is it the anguish and tribulation of man?

It is known that I bear little love for the Aitahist, but so too is it known that friendship endures between my nations and the nation of Helsia. If war should come to the Lovi, the prosperity of my peoples would suffer unduly, and I would be displeased. I caution you, Talephas, for your writ does not rule every land and sea upon this orb, and I think you would suffer in such attempt. Heed my counsel in this, or discard it. Walk upon the path of peace, or that of war. Which tale shall I believe? The choice lies with you.

Some of what you say is acceptable to us. We might be convinced to accept the establishment of an embassy. However, we will not accede to the rest of your requests.

Neither the Farubaida, nor its constituent Republic in the Peko, shall be forced to pay a tribute to Gallat.

We will not change our stance towards the practice of Ardavan. Practicioners of Maninism, Indagahor, Aitahism, Iralliam, and all manner of other faiths which embrace what we view as 'goodness' shall find themselves accepted within our Federation. We view Ardavan as opposed to this. Should you practice it in your own lands and trouble us not, then we shall endeavour to do the same.

Our relationship with the Holy Moti Empire shall be determined by our correspondence with the Chief of Chiefs, and not by the requests of Talephas.

With these responses simply given, the Harafaio o Farubaida bids you good health and a clear mind.

I obviously cannot make any statement until I have heard from the Ayasi. As far as I know, Sixth-Frei considers us our allies (or at least I assume he does, as his forbears before him, unless he says otherwise), and so far has not joined with Talephas in holding correct the legally unfounded stance that we are subject to him.

I could scarcely swear fealty to the Ayasi when neither he nor his predecessors have ever claimed fealty, even if I were willing to.
