erezNES - Waves of Civilization

Honestly? Another Italy player?

Would you mind joining somewhere else, like North Italy?

You're taking away any room to expand and garunteeing war.

First of all, we are aspiring upcoming city-states in the early bronze age, war is a given thing.
Second, the place I start is the end of a trade route, whether or not I start there, a city-state will arise, might as well be me.

"Eurocentric Life" I'll be joining later, possibly Monday.

1. Why are the main centers of civilization in Greece and Italy?
2. Seriously, SamSniped? Seriously?

Because everyone awake when he posted the first wave wanted to be in europe. I made a civ in asia if you want to join. We already have Terrance and Joan.

Pre-emptive sign-up for next update:

Armass/Optical
Edit: Map:

attachment.php

Government: High Council (much like the Roman Senate but more primitive)
Religion: Animism
Age: Bronze
Stability: Stable
Economy: Barter economy based on the region's farming culture. Markets occur every nine days (a cycle of nine days - 'issi' - is the basis of Armassi life) where people trade their excess produce for produce they need.
Projects: None as yet.
Information: Hunter-gatherers settled here to fish and farm; one group on the Arabian Peninsula and the other in Hormuz. The two groups found each other across the straits; their two towns of Fas (on the peninsula) and Armas (on the mainland) quickly saw the wisdom of working together. Now the relatively successful small polity looks toward outside of its borders. The concept of power has entered the world and the Armassi are eager to have it.
Unique unit: Harpoonists use their boat-loaded weapons to catch fish. The Armassi have perfected the technique - it might come in useful against any enemies they encounter.

Here's my submission, reposted for your convenience.

Edit: Note: The kingdom has two s's at the end, the city only has one.

room for 1 more player.

I am waiting to see if Erez will OK Taiwan/Pearl River/Canton/Hainan. If not, Shanghai would be OK.

Might as well make an outline that he can okay or disapprove so that your spot doesn't get ninja'd

Citystate of Yakut/Terrance888
Elective Monarchy
Religion: Personified Dualism With Pantheon
Age: Bronze
Stability: Stable
Economy: Based almost entirely on trading and crafting. Farming is done by slaves or trading partners. Fishing is done by poor merchants on their spare time.
Projects:
Information: An urban culture based on Taiwan and the nearby coast, a dictator from IRL Taipei created an "empire" in recent history, which collapsed after his sieges failed to capture any of his rival city states who survived by trading with the mainland. However, instead of freeing the peasants the merchantile city states maintained their enslaved status and more or less ignored them as they continued to direct their attention towards the outside world.

Their religion is based on a pantheon of "Spirits, "Saints" and Deities" who differ by their origin, and which is headed by Kagura the Father and Dahare the mother. Both are represented by common drunken stereotypes and are very unreliable. Kagura emphasizes the steady melancholy of drunkenness in his care of his people and his intense attention to small subjects while Dahare represents the moodiness of drunks by standing aloof until incensed, upon which no kill is overkill.

The coastal culture, without the influence of the nearly mythical empire, has diverged culturly from the Nogaia islanders.
Unique unit: Tahe (Police)
The Taha emphasize in nonlethal takedown of unruly folk and management of the enslaved countryside. A voluntary force raised mostly from the militia with some actual volunteers, they are armoured against such things as scythes, fists, and stones and are armed with staffs, shields, and fists.

They are very good at maintaining cohesion, loyalty, and capturing slaves. Less so against actual troops although their constant duties makes them experienced enough that retraining (1ep?) to using actual weapons is quite easy. Such soldiers, unseen since the time of the Nogaia Empire, are known as Hekar

Each unit consists of 1 colonyship, support craft, and basic self defense. X EP (as determined by erez) shall be enough to fill it with either a colony or troops as needed.

Culture: Nogaia
The Nogaia culture is divided intrinsically in two. The "free" cities and the "slave" countryside. This division is thought to have stemmed from an ancient Nogaia Empire which has conquered the countryside, but failed to destroy any of the walled cities due to their trade routes to other peoples. After they collapsed, the city states divided the now enslaved and enserfed land among them to preserve their food supply, while maintaining their vision outward.

Names for City States:

Troja: TerrisH's choice, just make it sound like the other names.
I counted seven non-player cities, correct me if I'm wrong.

Yellow one south of Nassiros: Hudeos
Between TerrisH and Nassiros: Nycheos
Purple in Greece: Alderos
Green in Greece: Nitteris
Light blue in Greece: Eubeis
Dark blue in Greece: Trachos
On the Adriatic: Uldered

Anywhere out of the grey areas is Ok if you give good reasons for it, and you can expect being a bit less civilized. If you want somewhere not grey, you can also wait to join on the next wave.

For now the waves seem to be more of a slow player joining thing rather than actual waves of development. It helps me add players slowly that's for sure.

Do the second wave of players get their stats to send orders with and create RPs about projects now or do they have to wait a turn?

Well, the reasons for moving it southward is so I can connect the Mekong-Yellow cradles better with my culture. Also, the Pearl River is quite important historically, allowing the more land-focused early Chinese Dynasties to start the assimilation of the local Yue/Minh/Viet/ect cultures before more effective coastal-approach is developed. Rice farming, this far south of the Yangtse, can be double/triple cropped. (quadruple? IDK)

Terrance I'll accept you anywhere you want. You will be the fifth player. Just add a map for exact detailing of location.

BTW for now, if someone doesn't want to send a PM, orders on thread are fine by my, just keep them in 1 place and well bolded to be seen.

Luckymoose - it wasn't my choice... I'm sure things will change as more waves join in. History will also get rewritten to who was first to be civilized etc...

Also to everyone making ship UU's - just so you would know they will be about

It can't move itself. It is just a massive box pulled by rowboats, with enclosed (and barely watertight) compartments belowdecks usually filled with supplies.

EDIT: More specifically, the one-time-use barges farmers used to take corn and wood down to New Orleans. They can easily disassemble the barge for usable building wood (after drying it out, probably) and sell that along with their crops. Very roughly made at this moment.
