Esnaz's Mod

Okay, I've done a picture search. Although I found picture where he has blonde hair too, darker hair was more common.

Some of my pictures are black/white, others show paper money (that are colored), but they also point to a darker hair colour. At least it seems Matthias Corvinus was well-manicured and on 99% of the pictures he has no beard. Maybe somebody knows more pctures (from history books etc) which can be scanned and posted here. In my oppinion the beard has to be removed, but it is still your LH.

thats great, thanks a ton! I already removed the beard, but maybe I'll use a whole new model. The one i used for my mod looked a lot like the Charlemagne model (so far, I'm thinking the Joao model), but these pictures you gave me look less like him. I could post a new version for those who would like to download it (when I'm finished, of course)

Cool. Just tell me if I can help you again.

How do you install these? I loaded the mod but I get no new civs in bts.

You have to first save the mod to the regular mods folder (I assume you know what that is, if not, just let me know). Then, you go into Esnaz's Mod/ and open up the Esnaz's Mod text file (the ini file). Go down to where it says Modular XML Loading= 0, and change the 0 to a 1.

If that doesn't make a difference, let me know

I finished the Matthias Corvinus LeaderHead, it was hard to cover up the hole in his head perfectly, but I think it looks pretty good. Check the first post for the download link

Suggestions? Alright, here goes...

For existing models:
1) Theodora's cloak is good, but the hand-tied knot just doesn't look fancy at all. Perhaps replacing the cloak model with the Ragnar one would do the trick, or covering/altering the knot into some sort of metal insignia?
2) The Hittite fellow's turban is fine I suppose, but I think it might look even better with a retextured Hannibal helmet. It would separate the design from Darius even more. Furthermore, the Hittites and Carthaginians were related, so a similar helmet would even make sense.
3) I love the Nebuchadnezzar design, but I'm not completely sold on the striped hat. It just doesn't match the rest of the outfit in my view.
4) The Assyrian leader is too much like Hammurabi. Perhaps with a different beard, possibly Mehmed's robe as well?
5) I still think Ben Gurien needs a straight tie instead of a bow tie to fit him more and distance him from Churchill.

For additional models:
1) To round out the Aborigines, I think that Peter the Great could be recolored and altered a little (no mustache) to make a great Bennelong. Including him would also present a very different version of the civ from that represented by Yagan.
2) I'm still really hoping that someone will do a good Joshua leaderhead for Israel based on Hannibal. He'd be a good, aggressive/spiritual leader.
3) I really want to see a Selassie I of Ethiopia based on Alexander (no paudrons or laurels). He'd wear a military outfit and have a beard (possibly painted-on).
4) I'd really like to see Cato of the Romans make an appearance to represent the old republic. He could possibly be a white Shaka with a robe of some sort.
5) Finally, how about another Egyptian? Someone like Akenaten or Kufu. He could be based on a completely different model but with the traditional headdress and/or beard added.

So there, five alteration suggestions and five new requests. Take them or leave them, but I'd really love to see them.

Your Corinus looks wonderful. I'll try it out soon.

EDIT: Tried the new Matthias Corvinus. Very well done. A minor thing: he looks a bit strange from the side. Nevertheless he will be in the next version of the magyar mod. You'll get credits of course.

Thanks for all of those, I'll try some out in the next version. I never would have thought of using Peter as an aborigine.

Yes, getting the top of his head perfect was difficult, but i'll try to get that better for the next version.

It was already set to 1. :(

These are silly questions, but I'll ask them anyway:
Did you load the mod in the game (Advanced-->Load a Mod-->Esnaz's Mod)?
Did you save it to C:/Program Files/Firaxis Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 4/Beyond the Sword/Mods?
Did you extract the files?
Does the mod name appear in the corner of the BTS main menu?
Umm...I can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'll let you know if I think of anything else. It just seems weird, usually the problem is the "Modular Xml Loading=0"

Yes to all of the above, i'll check back now and again to see if you have any tips to get it working.

You could also try going to My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/ and open the Civ4 ini file (text file) and cange the Modular XML Loading= 0 to Modular XML Loading= 1. I'm not sure if you still need to do that with the latest patch, or maybe you don't have the latest patch and you have to change the modular settings there.

Done for CIV Gold 3.0, but not in posted beta. It will be in the final (posted this week). He is based on Alexander, with a beard, and a modified Stalin hat.

esnaz may, as always, use the LH for his mod as he sees fit.

And Civ gold may use any of the LH's from mine ;)

What might make another nice peaceful Aboriginal leader would be Mokare. He'd probably be Cha/something, he maintained peace between the settlers and the Aborigines and also helped the white settlers explore the land. He even became close friends with several white settlers.

A completely new question:
I'm doing research for v.2, but I'm having trouble getting a Harappan/Indus Valley Unique Unit, anyone have any ideas?

For the Harappan/Indus Valley Unique Unit it should be some sort of defensive axeman. Although not much is known, archeological finds seem to suggest they were into extensive copper working (and some low bronze). I think an axeman with an obsidian axe blade (like the Egyptian axeman) could also be a good choice, because they were good with precious stone working.

Or go for something new and replace the Spy unit with "Indus Valley Trader", although I'm not sure in what way it should be unique.
