Farownes02 Revived!!!!

Great update. The collapse of T'lur Pa really sets a change for the cradle.

I suggest you go over the map and take out names that don't belong. It is getting confusing. And maybe if possible making some nations different colors. So they aren't the same.

The Light of To'ra continues to enlighten others. We shall carry on the Holy Scepter.

map is a bit confusing.. several nations don't seem to have a capital any more?

Nice update! I assume Kalduria is the light blue nation to my east?

What is the predominant religion of the Oslan tribes?

Diplo coming after stats.

And so the light of the Ancient world is extinguished. The well of the world's knowledge goes dry as war and religion march in step across what was once the world's glory, reducing what was greatness to a pale shadow of some tattered self. The passing of T'lur Pa goes unmourned and hardly noticed. Let it not be so!

Spoiler :

From the ancient scrolls...
In spring when the Animus runs at flood and the mud banks of summer are deep within the rich runoff from far mountains, Queen and consort often spend their evenings on one of the flowered balconies over looking the river. On this day she reclines on a cushioned chair and he upon the parapet. Sheer lavender cotton hardly masks her shapely form, but sets off the necklace of leaf shaped gold and large pearls in which she twines her fingers. They talk of change.

Tipu: A scribe caught me by the arm today and took me the docks and spoke of counting.
Ariana: Counting my love? How very strange. Does he think you ignorant?
Tipu: ‘Twas my thought exactly. Then he had me watch as the tallyman recorded the unloading. A basket of fruit, a basket of fruit, a basket of fruit, a bag of grain, a bag of grain, and so on until the unloading was complete. All seemed well and accurate to me. What was the point? “Ah,” he said “such has been our counting since we first learned to keep track of goods. But now with all that passes through our port it is clumsy and slow. My I suggest something new?”
Ariana: A new way to count? Do you jest? How can we count any different than we do? Is this some new scheme to hide from taxes?
Tipu: So I thought too my sweet marsh flower. But hear me out. The scribe and I sought a quiet spot along the quay and with tally sheet and marker he explained. In our system quantity and commodity are joined as one. “Shepu” is a bag of grain; nothing more nor less. Just as "twins" is two children born together and "quartet" is drum, two flutes and stringed lyre. Vinette is a jar of drink made from grapes and olette a jar of oil. Our tally sheets list them all shepu, shepu shepu, olette, olette, vinette vinette vinette. Now here is his brilliance: separate the “thing” from the “count”.
Ariana: What! How can that be done?
Tipu: Oh my love it is simple in its elegance. Our scribe has created “numbers” from the air and matches them to things as needed. Shepu no longer is a bag of grain; it is the grain and nothing more. The number, see I write it down, tells us the quantity of grain we have. Lines of shepu are reduced to this single entry: 5 shepu.
Ariana: So this counting as you call it must be learned anew. Can anything be counted? What more can we do with numbers?
Tipu: I do not know my love, but I think much. These I will name “toes” and count them just so…Now, your “fingers” I count the same at 10. But of these you have but two…here and here.
Ariana: My Lord! You do encroach… but I do like this counting thing. Count me again…

And so in the early years of her reign, Ariana accepted counting as a new learning. And with the separation of numbers from things “words” were invented as a happy accident and they took their own path to greatness and spread like the spring floods across the land. Soon people began writing words without any numbers and made stories and songs. Old names were recorded and new ones created. Keeping track of commerce became easier and more accurate. Tax revenue increased. Other people thought of new ways to use these numbers, and counting became mathematics like words became stories.

Yeah, I thought I owned Vencia for a little while.

Terenans do mourn the destruction, though they are not involved in this conflict. Remnants of the people of T'lur Pa are welcome in Tereno, should they choose to emigrate.

Bird, was that your nation, which Nuke has ruined?

"All things must pass."

so who gained the most from nuke?

That is an irrelevant topic of discussion to the IC thread, rapidly trending towards spam. Keep stuff like that in the While We Wait thread.

ok, which nation has gained the most economically since the collapse of T'lur?

An, since when was this a IC only thread? Hardly OT when discussing a nation within it!

Sorry, stats will not come today. I was gone all day and I am doing homework currently. They will be up tomorrow. I will fix the map and update the front page today. I may even get the spotlight I intended up today as well.

I will answer questions in the thread when I finish updating the front page.

It just really detracts from the environment if we start having this discussion analyzing the effects of the fall. Feel free to do that anywhere else, but cluttering up the thread is just annoying.

Awesome update Farow! Twas' worth it.

From: Hyoln
To: Vencia

We congratulate the merchants of Vencia for their intelligence. This power coup was a good idea, and we will now offer more lenient terms.

Here are the terms, as we have suggested. Feel free to negotiate, if you will.

1. Vencia will be incorporated as a semi-autonomous vassal state to Hyoln.
2. Vencia will pay war damages to Hyoln.
3. Vencia will pay a tribute to Hyoln.
4. Vencia will defer to Hyoln for all foreign policy matters.
5. Vencia shall have a cap placed on its military.
5. In return, Hyoln will defend Vencia from an unjustified attack.
6. Vencian merchants will be allowed free trade.
7. Vencia as a whole will be mostly left alone and left to prosper.

From Vencia
To Hyoln

We accept as long as the amount of tribute is specified as well as the amount of money we will need to pay in war damages. All other terms we see no problem with and find them proper given the current situation.

Nice update! I assume Kalduria is the light blue nation to my east?

What is the predominant religion of the Oslan tribes?

Diplo coming after stats.

The light blue nation is Kalduria. Will add their name to the map.

The Oslan tribes are mostly pagans. They believe strongly in a war as a path to a paradise in the afterlife. Surrender is considered enternal suffering often in the form of a spirit forever left to wander the earth. Veneratio Avatorum literally will have to be forced down their throats. Some tribes are more open to religion but they have mostly fallen under the Dualist sway like Moldvi.

I am fixing the map. Several nations do not have a capital for a reason but those who do are considered "civilized" while those who do not are important tribes that deserve a color rather then grey. Like Oslan it an important group of tribes sort of essential to the story but the have no capital.

Front page updated and spotlight added. Still working on the map. Going to be soon. I will add new descriptions for a few nations and new war descriptions. Some please give me a link of the stories in the thread and I will reward you.

@Birdjaguar, thanks for the story :)

I'll figure out the tribute and war damages when stats are updated. 8)
