Well, I was pretty interested in Rome: Total War until I realized how god-awful the battlefield AI even on the hardest level so lately I’ve been going back to Medieval: Total War. But the problem runs even deeper with RTW, battles are over with in seconds. I remember actually enjoying epic battles every few turns in MTW. But in RTW, battles are numerous and so easy that it becomes a chore after a while. Overall it’s a good game but it seriously needs a good patch or mod to become truly enjoyable.

GTA gets boring and repetitive after a while. The joy in beating the crap out of police officers and prostitutes, hijacking an ambulance, and having the US military come after you soon wears off.

Every once in a while I play Wolfenstein, Enemy Territory online with my friends.

I play sports games on the PS2 some, and I play a lot of Pirates! Also, I'll probably take up Medieval: Total War sometime soon.

One of my favorites is the shareware game Escape Velocity: Nova, which is a space game where you do basically whatever the hell you want (e.g. trade commodities, become a pirate, fight for any number of governments, take over planets, etc.)

I also really like Heroes III and both Descent: Freespace I and II.
