[FfH II Art Team Blog]

can you make new female adepts for both civs?

Why? They already have them.

Ah, I did not know that. Since I've been unable to update, I didn't know about the graphics changes. Please ignore my previous request.

[While I was able to download the BtS 3.19 patch, I can't download the current FfH. Even with Download Manager, the download gets interrrupted and will not start up again. I've tried different mirrors, with no success. If someone could suggest a better download software, it would be welcome.]

BTW, regarding the instructions, don't you need to tinker with UnitArtStylesAnd CivInfos.xml, too?

Yes, in order Civ4 load custom civ skins (as Malakim Archmage instead of that regular archmage), we have to add it in UnitArtStyles.xml in Civilizations folder. But since this instruction is FfH only (AFAIK), I don't want to confuse modders from another mods or modmods ;)

Working on Lanun adepts, people. Keep your finger crosses

Aye, a buxom saucy wench be perfect for a lanun Adept! However, as they gain power, they age and become ugly and sinister-looking, the the Archmage looking like something dragged up from the depths of the sea.

Progression:
Adept: Young, sexy, still human looking.
Mage: Elderly, wizened, sinister, but still human.
Archmage: Elderly, wizened, obviously evil and inhuman.

why is she evil? Sinister, definently... not evil. unless she's hannah.

Mythic tradition. Usually (though not always), hags in folklore are malevolent, particularly those associated with water. {In the case of pond or river hags, this is due to parents telling their children that a hag lives in the nearby body of water and will drown children that go near that body of water. This is just parents telling children things that will frighten them into behaving. Presumably when the children grown up and themselves become parents they continue to perpetuate the myth since it is useful.}

Also, in FfH, now that Danalin is asleep and tormented by nightmares, the Octopus Overlords hold sway, making tainting any connection to the ocean.

Mage: Elderly, wizened, sinister, but still human.
Archmage: Elderly, wizened, obviously evil (or neutral?) and inhuman.

While it is terribly sad, I have to admit that I failed in reskinning Lanun arcane line as planned above. Ten times I tried to reskin, and that many times I have failed.

So, I did the only decent thing to do. I quit.

Nah. :p

I drastically change the plan. Instead of making the units more sinister as their arcane power progressed, I made the units more alluring! And the result is...

Your using the Elohim devout as a Lanun Adept. I think instead you should take the mage model, decrease the size of the breasts, and change the texture from a blue dress to a brown shmock/ apron.

In this way, you can have the adept to be akin to a flat-chested broom-lady, while the upper tier magic users are more refined. Think of it as the starter-magic users are primarily used in the kitchen, while the better they get with magic the more lavished they are with gifts and prestige. Hence upgrading from a Brown apron to a blue dress.

If I may make a request of you esvath (mind you if you dont that is not a problem at all). Could you reskin the devout unit to a more Illian magical look? One with very light blue hair, pale skin, cape in a white animal fur look, with pelt boots, etc? Been looking to make a low level healing unit for the Illians and felt an Ice maiden would look nice...

This took a while. My apologies

Each druid carries a worn wooden staff, tipped with antlers taken from a fallen deer, and a single phoenix feather - a gift from Sucellus.

The sash which is worn around the torso, is teamcolored. In the lower right of the main image, a few different teamcolor variations are shown. Button art is included, with a green background to emphasize the nature theme. The .psd I created along the way is also included for easy editing. Layers within the .psd include 3 alternate seasonal clothing colors, and 3 alternate hair colors. The default look here is autumnal with brown hair

Technical Stats:

944 faces
single 256x256 texture
uses unique_sumeria_vulture.kfm

not entirely sure what will become of him since kael has apparently stopped working on FFH, but I'm sure he'll find a home among one or two of the modmods around here

Already downloading it.

Won't actually be in for a while though; Taking a short break from modding, a week or two. Few things happening at once.
  1. Best friend of 10 years (We were 12 when we met. LONG time ago.) is back in town for a week, after Techschool. Then he's off to the 'Office of Naval Intelligence' in DC, with his wife and kid (my godson).
  2. Christmas, obviously. :p
  3. And last but certainly not least, as of today I am 22. I fully expect to get drunk.

Awesome work Kirby!
great stuff!

Hehe, Happy Birthday, nice day for a Birthday ;) as of today I am 26... this means I have to get drunk to overcome the shock of finally moving towards my thirties :(
ARGH!

Not so unusual, it happens every year for them :P
(and everyday for someone! :P )

Grats all of ya's

...decrease the size of the breasts...

This is something I don't know how to do (yet). Maybe another artist here would like to do that?

...Could you reskin the devout unit to a more Illian magical look?...

Sure thing! Doesn't guarantee success of course, but I will try it. It seems my Muse only work with magical units. I tried to reskin something for the vampire and failed miserably

BTW, does the Illian already have unique art for their arcane line? If not then... :mischief:

This took a while.

Finally! Thanks, WarKirby! :goodjob:

Now, what other units I can make with this as the base? Hmmm... :D

Since the Svartalfar archmage still unfinished (IMHO), I was tempted to reskin for them. The result is these two. The first is reskinned Archmage with Banshee dds. The second one is reskinned Ljos Mage with Svart Mage dds. Still doesn't know which one is better for Svart arcane line.

Pick one, or pick both. Please :D

I was thinking of maybe doing 4 different druid variants - one for each season, that could be divided among the human factions to give more variety. I kind of scrapped the idea, but not before I made a ton of different hair and clothing palette swaps. Check the .psd included in that download. Maybe you can do those additional versions

Will Ljosalfars ever get a new Champion model? Or at least, switch the current swordsman model to the champion, and chuck the champion down the nearest toilet. It looks so bad, I don't even wanna upgrade my units now. :(

I did the reskin and the result is this :

But since the Illians have not unique arcane units, and I feel that the ice maiden is perfect candidate for Illians mage, I also made the adept and archmage to complete the package
