Which units will make it next into the game?.

I know that Roland is working on a surprise for the Kuriotates, Ploe is a week off, Rabbit is occupied with EDU and Alazkan seems to be busy with real life stuff, too. So unfortunately lately I have had a lot less time for unitcreation than i wished to. But I will try and finish the upgraded Satyr character until tomorrow and then continue with some stuff for Malakim, Balseraph, Luchuirp and Kuriotates (depending on my life, this might take again some time... :( )

Intresting.

another question, what is the unit limit in game?, is there a cap on units?, for instance ive created a lot of variants of a unit, which are drawn per faction and resource, but i wondered if there is a unitcap i would run into later.

There isn't a hard limit.

i would presume the limit is you getting to angry to continue after thecomputer gets laggy...

Your talking about quantity of units, im talking about variety of units.

Perhaps i was unclear, i wanted to know if there is a limit on the number of unit types in game, ( for instance useing the UU Rossier class and assigning 9 unique names gives you 9 Nazgul class/Rossier named nazgul, each with specific names, and changed graphics or not in the civs file) not a limit on the number of them them produced used in game, which is the product of another file, nor the total number of units in game either, but if the game capped units classes at 256 or whatever number.

Sez, what no Calabim?.

hehe, no you can actually fit in as many varieties as you can handle ;) Kael upgraded to excel 2007, to handle more than 256 columns with it, because we are at around 400 unit entries if i am right... so feel free to add what you want ;)

I am not responsible for Calabim, thats Rolands part.
And a small update from me, I suspended work on some started units, because I will receive my Wacom intuos 3 in 2 weeks and from then on can "paint" textures with a pen instead of the mouse. Until then I will only produce the models and uvmaps for upcoming units, and as soon as I have the tablet, i will texture and finish what I started.
So, be patient guys :)

Wacom intuos 3 ?, tell me more......Does it allow easier use of graphics, or more advanced use?, is it expensive etc.

What i do like is for some factions units not to be all the same graphicly, less regimented if you will, so for instance a 3 man unit might have 3 different shield patterns but the same body/armour, or in the case of orcs, more variety of bodys and shileds, or lack for that matter.

sounds good! more variety is very welcome ;)

A wacom intuos 3 is a graphic tablet, you can actually use a pen (comes with it) to paint (replaces the mouse) on a touchscreen like tablet. It is very accurate and very pressure and angle sensitive, which allows in Photoshop e.g. the transparency and direction of your brush. It is fully customizeable. It hopefully will speed up my texturemaking and improve quality at the same time.
It costs 190 €. so its not cheap :) but I worked the last 5 month, so I definitely can invest into this.

That is great! FfH actually has some professional equipment now! ;)
May I ask what is your job? Something related to art or? I'm also glad you are enjoying making FfH :goodjob:

my "job", well I am studying chemistry and will finish my internship at a company here in UK next week. Thats where I got money from ;) after that I will be a poor student again :(
art unfortunately is only my hobby...
FfH is something special, normally things can´t catch my attention for such a long time ;)

Intresting, not on ebay though so ill pass......besides ive only just started on graphics and it wouold prob be waisted on me!!.

yes the units and shieds definatly help if you have a less uniform look, unless your factions very regimented, my orcs home made shieds made from bits and bobs, required a certin varity, and its easy to do, i used the diseased corpse unit as a model to see how mutiple models are used in a single unit.

Hey, sezereth, can you give us a sneak peak at those models you working on? please?

well, as I don`t texture I only could show you some models, probably will do so tomorrow. (UV mapping and rigging takes ages for completely new models)

So, are you guys secretly working on cool stuff for Shadow...? Oooor can you show us some new eye candy? :)

i am finalizing the satyr upgrade, just need some time to actually bring it to an end (needs rigging and small texture work).
after that ill start the puppeteers texture (he is already modelled and rigged) and then finally you will get the malakim scout and warrior.... lets hope everything else goes smooth and swift, so i can spend a lot of time for ffh ;)

I like the new art for Ljosalfar spellcasters, but they are the same through adept, conjurer, mage and archmage. Even a simple colour change for the different classes would be good, but I realise you have a huuge `to do` list.
