FfH trivia game thread

This would go much faster if Kael would just confirm which ones we got right.

I'm thinking the bold ones are right

edit: nm, misinterpreted it, Aeron is the patron god of the Calabim. I guess I equated the assassins part with the scorpion.

But then you'd get it by simple replacement.

Im really surprised no one has gotten the phoenix right yet considering how obvious I would think it is. MC is right that the snake makes perfect sense for the Infernals, considering the constellation, but its not their's.

It's also similar to the Chinese calendar with thier year of the dragon, year of the monkey, so on. It has the same stuff, with some subsitutions.

Snake: Shealm (thier flag has a dragon or a snake on it)
Deer: Ljosalfar
Scorpion: Malakim
Phoenix: Illians (Auric Ulvin is a reincarnated Mulcarn)
Ram: Khazad
Lion: Bannor
Bat: Calabim
Elephant: Elohim
Rabbit: Clan (they multiply like rabbits with thier warrens, at least they will if you leave them unchecked)
Dog: Grigori
Eagle: Mercurians
Wolf: Doviello
Rat: Balseraphs
Chimera: Kuriotates
Owl: Sidar
Panther: Svartalfar
Horse: Hippus
Raven: Amurites
Whale: Lanun (the only aquatic animal in all this, so it's obvious)
Bear: Lucichurip
Locust: Infernals

8 right .

im starting to think the pheonix might be the sidar

... and as soon as i post someone looks at the flag

As I've often stated, we know for a fact that the Bear is the symbol of Mulcarn. The Phoenix could be a symbol of the risen Sucellus (while the deer was his symbol before he died, when he was god of nature instead of life) though, but I doubt it. His sphere isn't represented by his followers though, but by Basium, who never even liked Sucellus.

Looking at the flags, the Mercurians do now seem to have a Phoenix. I was remembering their old flag, with a human-like head, but had convinced myself that their symbol was the Phoenix already anyway. Phoenix does seem best for them, both because of the life sphere and the rebirth of units as Mercurian angels.

I'm thinking I may be going back to the raven of the Sidar. their flag does seem to be a winged creature, although it ooks more like a butterfly than a bird. (If butterfly were on the list though, I would have considered it a symbol of their creator, Amathaon.)

I'm also thinking of going back to the Balseraph Chimera. An eclectic mix of various creatures just seems to crazy for any other civ. Also, wasn't the demon of Mammon (who I'm thinking was Hastur himself) who impregnated Lita rather Chimera-like? Mammon is over the Balseraph sphere of the Mind.

If the phoenix isn't for the mercurians my bet's on the sidar. After all, a phoenix is an animal of life and death, it dies and is then reborn, Arawn used to control both the life and death spheres.

I think the ram could be for Agares because in christianity / judaism whatever rams are associated with the devil.

Here are my guesses and reasons. I doubt I'm right, but here goes nothing:
Snake - Sheaim; the serpent may be the symbol of Agares, but the locusts fit the Infernals too well.
Deer - Ljosalfar; cuddly woodland animal.
Scorpion - Clan of Embers; wild guess
Phoenix - Mercurians; I could argue for the Clan (fire) but the Phoenix seems a perfect symbol of angelic rebirth.
Ram - Khazad; process of elimination, since they sure aren't the scorpion. Plus UU.
Lion - Malakim; they summon sand lions, for crying out loud!
Bat - Calabim; cliched, but I'm going with it anyways.
Elephant - Grigori; stealing Magistar's answer.
Rabbit - Kuriotates; it's so cute and fluffy.
Dog - Bannor; deep dedication to law.
Eagle- Amurites; I dunno, I'm steaing Magistar's answer.
Wolf - Doviello; fairly obvious.
Rat - Lurchiup; I see them as being sort of pack-rats with their magical goodies.
Chimera - Balseraphs; so CRAZY!
Owl - Elohim; I think it's mentioned somewhere or other that they're connected... some 'pedia entry, if I'm not mistaken... I could be wrong, though.
Panther - Svartalfar; dark and shadowy. Plus they ride 'em.
Horse - Hippus; obvious
Raven - I like Sidar for this one.
Whale - Lanun; it swims.
Bear - Illians; obvious.
Locust - Infernals; they destroy everything.
EDIT: Red are the ones I'm 100% confident in. Most are stolen from Magistar, whose list I quoted and re-arranged... but I'd like to add a vote of confidence for the Dog/Bannor. Not as grand as you'd imagine the Bannor symbol being. But it makes sense, IMHO.

I thought the bird on the Mercurian flag was an eagle as it sort of looked like a medieval eagle that would be on a shield or something.

Also, I think the one for the Sheaim is correct, since nothing else seems to fit them. Lets see what Kael says for this latest one.

Actually, guys, I just thought of something. Remember the Balseraphs Mimics? They are supposed to be like shapeshifters, never really having one true form and always being a mix of things, so the Chimera has to be the right answer for the Balseraphs.

If this means anything, in Age of Ice, when seer comes and you pick a raven, seer says:
Since you stood upon the castle parapet and stepped away from mortal life the eagle has been your symbol. Now you shall see your strength spread to a new generation.

I could make a wildcard and say that Snake is for Kuriotates- it symbolizes the Dragon and the team decided to go against the archetypes of evil snakes. But then again, the snakes are known for their poison, so I guess they would fit Sheaim more.
Also I doubt Panther is for the Svartalfar- they are winter court, and panther is associated with jungle/summer. Panther is really bugging me- whose animal can it be? Dwells in jungle, fast, agile, stealthy..?

The goddamn clan.

or thier lizardmen rangers?

I think I'm gonna go look through the XML of AoI for clues.

When picking the bear: You should have cast me from your camp. That which you imagine is the sign of the white hand himself.

So, Mulcarn obviously.

When picking the deer: This is the symbol of the fallen Sucellus. Even in death he passes some measure of sustenance on to you.

Also, TheJopa, the text you quoted is when you pick the Eagle, not raven. The text for that one sounds like someone commiting suicide.

When picking the Mammoth: "The symbol of Cassiel and his grey king,"
Picking the wolf: The wolf is the symbol of Charadon and his savage followers. clearly Doviello

Oh yea, the Raven now replaces the hawk for the Svartalfar, so maybe they should be placed on the raven entry here?
