FFH, you think it could be a movie?

Agreed.

Somebody said

There could be an age of ice trilogy/series, encompassing:
Bhall's Fall and the Bannor's Journey through hell
The Rise of the Illians, and finsihing with Mulcarn's destruction of the Luchuirp army
The reforging Of the godslayer and the Amurite's trials
The Elven Schism...

But there is so much stuff to cover and hard to even start when dealing with a movie plot line. 6 hours would barely suffice, but probably would.

Agree with charleswatkins to the extent of at least starting with a book series, however after a while, it would need to be made into a movie. The only problem aside from actually getting the resorces for that is, well like I said before, the movie would have to be very good quality, though the story you guys have is magnificent, the few problems would be, hollywood itself screwing with your ideas. MORE SEX. NO NO NOO WHILE HES HAVING SEX HAVE SOMEONE COME AND PUT A DAGGERZ IN HIZ HEAD!!!! THEN HE BLEEDS ALL OVER HIS WIFE AND HIS WIFE CASTS A SPELLZ AND MAKES THE ASSASSIAN EXPLODE THEN SHES HAS SEX WITH HER DEAD HUSBAND THEN THE KING WALKS IN AND RAPES HER AND THEN CUTS HER HEAD OFF. Sorry but yeah, thats what hollywood is nowadays, sex, violence, and more sex. And dont forget cursing.

How about a monthly online comic? There are already so many things mentioned in the 'pedia that would make excellent stories if expanded. Things like Beeri's capture and eventual escape from Perpentach. Keelyn summoning her own puppet for the first time. Falamar/Rhoanna. Lots of things.

Kael:
One of my favorite book series is Eric Flint's 1632 world. He created a place where readers could submit their own short stories that take place in his world and he publishes the best ones he gets. Would you ever consider doing something like that?

Hehe so exciting. Kael seems just as excited as the rest of us! ;)

Yeah Im actually reading Thriller at the moment. Its a collection of horror short stories from various authors.

Although its a decent read it makes me wish there was a common thread holding the stories together, even if that is as loose as a shared world. The big advantage of that method is that I could accept contributions from other writers (like the team members, though others could be used as well assuming the legal implications work out).

I know the next step along this path, I should be writing short stories and submitting them to fantasy anthology magazines. That way I get some use critique and maybe even a few published credits to help convince a real publisher to pick up the book if it comes to that.

But its not like I dont have my hands already full enough with my family, job and the mod to work on. Right now finishing the mod is major consumer of my fun time, after that I will have to look for another project to start up. It certainly is fun to think about.

Yeah, opening up a place for just anyone to post fanfic probably would be a bad idea. No disrespect to avid fanfic'ers out there, but the vast majority of it is utter rubbish. However, if there was a way people could submit their stories to Kael or other team members to judge for quality then it could work. Especially since I don't think you guys would be bombarded with very many applicants, and if it is all confidential the rest of the community doesn't have to know your story didn't pass muster.

ps. I would absolutely DEVOUR any books written about the FFH world. A truly awesome story you created Kael. Just out of curiosity, several years ago WOTC ran a contest for fans to submit campaign worlds and they would pick the best one to become published. (this is where Ebberon comes from) did you ever consider submitting FFH?

I did submit Erebus, I lost. :(

Lame.

As far as WOTC getting any more money from me for 4th ed. No Bard? No buy.

@ Kael: Well, their loss. :p

If that whould have come to pass we might never have got the terrific game that is FFH 2 (Due to coppyright issues at least. WotC sometimes seems quite harsh on that front.)
I prefer it the way it has turned out to be (i could understand should you don't so much, naturally.).
And who knows? Maybe in the end more people might get to know and like Erebus that way than whould have done if WotC whould have published it.

Pfft, looked up Ebberon on wikipedia and it doesn't look half as good as Erebus.

Anybody else familiar with Robert Asprin's Thieves' World? It consists of collection of anthologies with stories by some of the best fantasy writers. Instead of publishing a 'bible' for the series, he developed an RPG. Since then there have been full novels, comics, and RPG scenarios.

I think this would be an excellent publishing model for FFH.
