Do you find this image offensive? Should burning this flag be banned?

North Korea. And since I don't find flag-burning offensive...

It shouldnt be offensive. But if your doing it in a public area around lots of people it just creates smog and its a nuisance.

The people are thre by choice, they choose to breathe in the smog. And please don't tell me you want flag burning banned because of pollution - because thats a double standard if you then don't want barbeques or bonfires banned as well. And before you say 'they serve a purpose' - they serve no more or no less of a purpose than burning a flag does.

People dont have barbeques on the street in front of crowds of unwilling people...

I shouldnt have to go out of my way to avoid people like this on my daily schedule if i dont want to.

It also causes trouble.

I don't have a double standard!

When there were riots about the Danish cartoons, I joined in the burning by burning Danish flags (Hans Island is ours, damnit)!

Okay, I didn't really burn flags, but people drew flags burning me. It's pretty well the same thing.

I must admit, I would be distressed if someone was burning a Canadian flag. I don't think it would like it. That said, I don't mind enough to say that we shouldn't be allowed. Hell, someday, *I* might want to burn a Canadian flag.

I don't agree with what you are saying, but I will defend your right to say it to the death. I say banning it sounds like something from 1984.

Im just against the idea of doing these things in public because of the reasons ive listed earlier.

Not to mention it aggravates people but if you want to do it then you should do it with a permit in an organized fashion such as at a protest.

BTW i am not against burning flags because of respect out of the flag my reasons are different.

I dont see why I should respect another countries flag, I wont go out and burn one though.

Flag burning should be allowed, provided of course that the flag being burned is the personal property of the person burning it, otherwise it's arson.

Something being offensive to you is not valid reason to force legal action to shut someone up.

Noone has the right to not be offended at times.

Not allowing people to burn flags is tampering with their freedom of speech.

I would feel confined if ridden of that right.

But here is a distinct difference in respect and reveree for flags as symbols of nations, and honor and so on in different countries.

For example, I have seen paper napkins in Sweden colored as Swedish flags, in a restaurant. At that ocasion a British aquaintance was apalled by the notion of wiping your kisser with your nations flag. Or in deed allowing tourists do the same.:ninja:

The image is somewhat offensive, but I don't see why that matters in the least. Imagine banning everything someone found offensive...?

I dont see any problems with burning other country's flags. However, I do want to see the burning one one's home country to be illegal since I see burning your own country's flag is a sign of disrespect and being unpatriotic to your own country.
