Flags!

The Solar Federation flag, in small and regular sizes. Regular's a bit rough on the edges but I can't really be bothered to soothe it out that much more.

Amazing work.

It looks like a French Wales...

A welsh dynasty ends up as the kings of Norman England & France?

I thought the flower of lily was a Bourbon thing... So, is it a Bourbon-controlled Wales?

Nope, either Louis VII or Philip II Augustus first used it as a heraldic charge back in 1100s. You can also tell its not Bourbon because Bourbons have two fleur-de-lys on top while the flag has two on the bottom.

My guess on the flag is a little more complicated. I remember a legend about King Arthur where a red and white dragon are fighting, the Red Dragon symbolised the Britons, while the White Dragon represented the invading Saxons. So my guess is a Briton-Saxon country, equally united (so most likely by marriage).

The fleur-de-lys were not only a symbol of France, but also a symbol of royalty. So I would guess the three fleur-de-lys represent three "kingdoms" united under the one king. As the top fleur-de-lys is the largest, it is most likely the main Briton-Saxon kingdom, while the smaller two are additional, later kingdoms added to the main kingdom.

The Strategos is correct in nearly every respect and gets full marks on knowledge of national symbols, the exception being that the upper fleur-de-lys is bigger coz I think it looks nicer that way rather than any heraldic significance ;).

Xen's supposition is also correct excepting for the 'Norman' bit.

The colour of the flowers is also significant...

Ahh, it just seemed to me that unless it was a direct line fo descent from the Arthurian Romano-British warlords, that the easiest way for the Welsh to come into power was post the events of 1066 and all that.

Now here's a wee experiment I've been working with. Some of you may remember this flag.

And this one too.

Ooooooo that second one looks pretty sweet, kinda like turn of the century grim&industrial look, or some old parchment.

For the first one...why are there bodily fluids on the proud flag of Dalnorossia?!? The upstanding members of the Grand Assembly are practically quivering with anger!

that looks not like blood

It looks like someone jizzed all over the flag.

I don't see whatever others are seeing, apparently, because I only see a bunch of rips. :p
