For Handfull of Units

I was wondering too, why the mods of civ4 haven't so much
new units....but i dont mean the vehicles of 1939 mods or maxriga

Because most people prefer to fight in the modern Era I find. Personally I like the early eras for warfare, its more..... desperate, hand to hand fighting has that true element of" if I don't put this pointy thing in him he will do it to me", while the modern era is like "pull this trigger and push this button, boom your dead", no fun:lol:

If your looking for new units, just wait until EBCIV is released, it will add probably around 500 units is its complete stage, not including the later expansions that will undoubtedly follow. And most important it will be based entirely in the classical era from 272 B.C.E to 14 AD.

Also keep in mind it takes a lot of effort to create new units from scratch, even more so when you are creating new animations (just look at Rabbit White's Centaur) The bones for people are more complex than for modern tanks, plane, and artillery too. Lastly, people with 3d modeling skills are at a premium here, sure there are some absolutely amazing unit creators here but they are at a premium compared with the demand of their time for many projects.

wow, nice reskin work !

there are some units there that I would really love seing in my mod ;)

Thx for putting the units that i've asked there's couple left that i want but i'll wait

As i said i can create weapons pack for you - just say what is needed :)

WOW thats are very interesting informations
can you give me more information of EBCIV and can i find threads with
tutorials for making own animations (***.kfm files),
it would be the next step for me, but yes its much more difficulty..

DAMN I MUST MAKE ANIMATIONS TOO

Well for more EBCIV information just checkout the link in my sig. As for tutorials on making your own unit kfm files, I'm not sure any have been made. But the best place to look would be in the Tutorials section. But if you do get some new units animations going I'd love to talk to you about some basic animations for some of the core EBCIV units!:goodjob: (namely pila throwing legionaries  )

ModFreak,

As discussed in private message, heres are some examples of various ww2 units you could try to rebone/reskin if possible.

1. German paratrooper (I know there is one already done but it looks too modern in my opinion)

I will post more unit types soon. I know this is a hard one to begin with but I think all that needs doing is making the helmet smaller and more round like the one the Fallschirmjager wore and the length of the jacket/tunic needs to be the same length as the uniform worn in Normandy. The jacket had buttons on the bottom to clip the jacket around the legs (refer to first link under camouflage patterns) or let it hang loose. Which way you model it is up to you.

Sorry I did not respond sooner. Unit looks very good :goodjob:

I just saw the new paratrooper unit in BTS screenshots and this has potential for representing American and German paratroopers with a bit of skin editing as well :)

Thanks for taking the time to do this unit for me :D
