Foreign Policy: UniversCiv

we will need to settle our city on top of the Marble. We plan to settle this soon.

I love it. That's a Big-Boy-Pants message right there... That's how to get'er dun!

Is the city already settled?

Oh and I think since we got Alpha, I will now renew my :gripe: whines and cries about making a spy... where, I don't know... but surely somewhere in our vast powerful lands there is a city that can spare a few hammers for us to have a Spy keeping track of where the Zulu stack is. As bistria mentioned in the chat, we didn't NEED Alpha urgently.... so I'm thinking that if we don't at least get a spy...

Do it! Do it Now!:whipped:

;)... And if this is already done and I missed it then I am thouroughly embarrassed:blush:... just ignore my questionable advice.

The spy is on his way in 4 turns in Raj, Captain!

It is on build from this turn, so no, you did not missed anything yet :)

So, UCiv is trying to organize an embargo against RB. That's great for us but I don't think we can participate due to our comprehensive agreement with them. Any ideas how we should respond to UCiv?

Also, did that spy ever complete?

:bounce:Ooooh Ooooh I know! I know! Me me me!:wavey: Let's suggest that a member of RB should be made the admin of the game!

All joking aside I think we should wait a bit and see if UCiv can at least get some others on board before we throw a wet blanket on it... Their idea does have merit and helps us longterm, so we don't want to discourage them by telling them we can't participate.

:)

My opinion is exactly the opposite:

We must tell them in open what agreements we have with RB and tell them we cant close borders right now, but tell them we are happy they look at the situation like they look and we will be happy to work with them in order to sustain RB becoming run-away nation. (Further than it is already :( )

Maybe even ask them if they have shared their concerns with other nations too and if they are willing to.

I also prefer being open and upfront. Let's just say that currently we unfortunately have an agreement including open borders with RB and we can even tell that it lasts until turn 175. I think this is a perfect opportunity to try to get them to join the anti-RB coalition. We must be careful though not to give too much away before we know we can count on them.

I agree very much with this.

Trying my hand at this as well:

Hi UniversCiv,

Our open borders with RB is a part of our current NAP with RB. We really like your idea of everyone closing their borders from RB but unfortunately we cannot close the borders without breaking the deal and we take keeping our word seriously. Have you discussed other teams about this idea as well?

We fully agree with the sentiment that RB run-away must be contained though and when our NAP with them runs out, we are very interested in co-operating against team RB. We believe that practically every team must work together to contain RB advance.

An optional idea I have is to add following sentence to the end of the message:

"We are also afraid that just closing borders will not be enough to contain RB. If it comes to war for every other teams survival at some point, do you think that you can contribute?"

I did not add that to the draft yet, since I am not 100 % sure whether we feel confident enough to share this information. Personally I think that we could add it to the message. IMO, the risk of UCiv to leak this information to RB is very small. Even if they do leak it, I don't think it will be that big of a deal. We don't really have a chance of attacking RB with their pants down anyway. I believe that RB will assume that we'll attack them as soon as NAP is over. If not yet, they'll know at the moment they start asking for extensions to their NAPs and every neighbour declines. And they'll start asking those in time to prepare for the worst.

Brilliant!

I like the message as it is without the additional section. Lets not hurry the things. We will come to this at some point for sure.

Only one "with"is missing between discussed and other teams at the end of the first paragraph from this otherwise great message.

Lets send it quick, we must move our diplomacy. Diplomacy is what will win us the game.

We must tell Uciv about RB offers that we attack them. Planting the seed can give us good fruits in 15 turns when we go to them and ask them to send corpus to fight along with us against RB.

RB only suggested that to test our relationship with UCiv. When UCiv comes back to them and says "CFC told us that you suggested for them to attack us" they will know that we share their letters with UCiv, and then they will know that UCiv is a reliable way to find out what our plans are.

Let us turn the tables instead. Lets tell UCiv:
RB has told us that they are planning to attack us on turn 170, but they will be unpleasantly surprised when CivFr and SpAp attack them instead. We have discussions with CivFr and SpAp to end the War. We are discussing working together with one or both of them to go after a common enemy and share the spoils. We can only assume, but we think that they both see RB as the common enemy.
Then we wait to see what happens. And none of this is lies, only speculation and innuendo. Hopefully we will get some message from RB that tells us whether UCiv is feeding them information. Then we will know that UCiv is a reliable way to feed mis-information to RB.

@Sommers, what makes you think UCiv would tell on us? I got the feeling that UCiv is not happy with RB's lead either. Remember that they were trying to machinate a trade embargo a while back. Even if UCiv would feed the info back to RB, I'd rather go with 2metra's suggestion. If we try to send something too outlandish, RB would know that we suspect them getting our communication with UCiv.

Yes, it is way too machinatory for my mind that Uciv are friends with RB.

I have Uciv figured in my mind as passive builders bunch of guys, who had good land and good idea to box it in for later use and now they hope to just develop it. And they are afraid of RB score.

5 beer bet
I take that bet. How do we know? I guess after the game ends and threads are open.

I propose that we send the following to Uciv:

Greeting, Team Uciv,

RB looks for and finds allies in the most strange places. Not only they came to us and suggested that we attack you after we finish with Zulu, but in the same time decided to supports our Zulu enemies giving them Elephants. So far, this turned not big obstacle to us and we continue the war with success. Then out of a sudden CivFR came to threaten us with war and obviously they are with alliance with the Zulu, as they move army to Zulu borders and Zulu only moves army towards us. We declared them a war and now we prepare to fight them too. We are wondering if RB have anything to do with this all which happens around us, as they try actively to get longer NAP with us too.

Do you have any information or even idea about something which can throw more light on the situation for us?"

Team CFC

Our ally Ot4e is pushing us to keep trying to get Uciv on the wagon. Shall we send them the message now?
