. . . except when I send a privateer within a few tiles. Then his sends four frigates after it.

I wonder if those ships have something to do with his code, with him being Dutch and all. He also somehow decided to replace all those mines in the first screen shot with lovely Dutch windmills.

Sidenote: Does anyone else play Tectonics maps? This was my first one and it had disappointingly little land, even with Earthlike settings.

Tectonics can generate very interesting maps, but the "Earthlike" settings (I think it's 70% water) result in these very small landmasses. I used to play around, generating several maps and experimenting with the different variables, and IIRC there's a 60% water option which should provide a much gameplay-friendlier map.

Thats what im playing after several pangea games... teching is quite slow at the start, although i got a killer island this time and got civil service around 1ad... i know thats not super early but..with no tech trading it isnt bad :)

Thanks Chakram Bearer!

Julius Caesar is a creep. I've been semi-isolated with him for a while now, and K-Mod JC keeps spamming units and declaring on me, when all I want to do is get to Optics and avoid falling behind the rest of this large, 18-Civ world...

Anyway, enough preamble. Julius had 14 units (Praets, Spears, Catapults mostly) parked on a forest outside Arretium-which-I-had-stolen-from-him. I had a bunch of Maces, Xbows, Catapults and Keshiks. And after I suicided 4 Cats on his stack, this happened:

Yup. 14 straight wins. Odds weren't all overwhelming, either:

89.8%
78.3%
59.2%
63.0%
68.0%
47.3%
74.1%
72.8%
92.5%
93.1%
98.3%
99.1%
99.9%

Having gotten this off my chest, I'm going to reload from my previous save. Doesn't seem fair to take out a stack of 14 units without losing any.

The Random Number God gives you a gift and you choose not to accept it? Careful, that might anger it.

Also, assuming I calculated correctly, that had about a 3.44% chance of happening. Great luck, but not unbelievable luck unless your units also didn't even get hurt much.

choxorn beat me to it. I also made it 3.44%. I admit I did think it would be less. Since I've lost at least one unit at 0.2% probability, I don't think you need to do JC the courtesy of reloading...

Unless you chose the new random seed on reload option the results will still be the same.

"Hey, shouldn't we do something about that barbarian settlement that's completely surrounded by our land?"
