AXIS CONFERENCE PREPARATIONS UNDERWAY
Preparations have begun for the Paris Axis Conference of 1961, with the construction of a great pavilion within view of the Eiffel Tower. The pavilion, once completed, will be the site of the conference where an international delegation of nations committed to progress and advancement will gather to determine the course of the Axis in the next half of the century. It is expected to be completed several months in advance of the conference, and will in addition to being the site of the meetings, will be a place of celebration and festivity for the citizens of France and the citizens of all Axis nations. The Paris Axis Conference will be held in 1961, and will continue throughout the duration of the year, as all nations within the Axis are expected to send a delegation to the Conference. Consul De Gaulle has, in preparation for the conference, enacted a civil ordinance within Paris allowing public demonstrations in celebration of the conference. The Conference is assured to be another glorious moment in the history of fascism. Some scholars are going so far as to call the fascist and falangist movement across Europe and the world a second renaissance, an answer to Marx and other socialist reformers that the capitalist system is strong, when tethered to the interests of a state and its people. The pavilion will additionally host an orchestral hall, a steel frame globe with a map of the world's great nations and their colonial possessions, and a plaza for public use. We interviewed several Parisians, who expressed their complete support of the Nationale phalangiste Parti de la France, Consul De Gaulle's administration, and the Axis. Theophile Cartier, thirty-eight, had this to say, "These are glorious times to be French. I could not be prouder of my nation. Down with the hated Hun!" Marie Orisell, fifty-four, said "My husband and both sons are members of the Parti phalangiste, and will help oversee the construction of the pavilion. I couldn't be prouder. Vive la France!"

FASCISM -- TRUE DEMOCRACY AND THE AGE OF THE FALANGE
Consul De Gaulle opened the National Assembly this year, with a speech on the democratic nature of fascism, and the ironically undemocratic nature of the republics, republicanism, and nations that practice these flawed principles such as the United States. The Consul stated that in nations like these, the voting public is swept up by the traitorous, transnational and privatized interests of speculating businessmen, and the calculating and unscrupulous politicians in their pockets. Furthermore, he denounced the criticisms by foreign nations that the system of French fascism is a one-party state, citing that various parties sit within the National Assembly, of which his Parti phalangiste was only the most prominent. That all the parties within the Assembly are fascist is not representative of the undemocratic nature of the system, the Consul wisely notes, but representative of the fact that the French people are uniform in their support of fascism. De Gaulle further praised the spread of fascism in its various forms across the world, particularly falangist movements in South America, which he called forward-thinking, and bold in their denunciation of American imperialism in the western hemisphere. When asked later by reporters if the monarchy was supportive of fascism within France, De Gaulle remarked that the House Bonaparte was the very spirit of France, and that as a fascist nation, the House Bonaparte was a royal family in support of fascism. Emperor Napoleon later corroborated this statement when we reached him on vacation in Corsica, stating that he fully supported fascism in France and abroad, and that as Emperor of the French, he felt it was his duty to embody the fundamentally fascist spirit of the French people. All Frenchmen can surely be proud of the principled, loyal leaders we have as a nation. All members of the Assembly confirmed their commitment to bringing about the end of socialism in all its forms, and building a verdant and peaceful world for the Frenchmen of tomorrow. Vive la France!

MILITARY PARADE TO COMMEMORATE FIFTEENTH ANNIVERSARY OF VICTORY OVER THE HUN
We celebrated the fifteenth anniversary of our reclamation of Alsasse-Lorraine, Algeria and Tunis from the Hun and his lackeys in the Second Great War. In commemoration of this historic victory over the forces of decadent evil, the Armée impériale de la Nation française held a military parade presided over by Consul De Gaulle and Emperor Napoleon IV through the Champs Elysees to cheering crowds of Frenchmen. There are still those who remember the humiliating defeat of 1918, and they were out in force to cheer on our brave soldiers, who brought low the enemies of France, restoring honor to the French people. But in the face of victory, and the shining bayonets and stocks of so many rifles deployed in the name of la belle France, and fascism, we must remain vigilant. Not so long ago, France was vulnerable (and still is!) vulnerable to the forces of socialism and anarchism. In these tumultuous times, we must all stand ready to defend our great nation against evil. Remember Shanghai, remember Sedan, remember all the humiliations and defeats we have stood up and repaid in full to our enemies. Remember that there will be more to come, and remember that we must be prepared to pay them in kind. Remember that death is preferable to socialism. Country, glory, brotherhood. Vive la France!

DO NOT BELIEVE HUN PROPAGANDA -- IMPERIAL OVERSEAS DEPARTMENT DEBUNKS ANTI-FRENCH MYTHS IN THE COLONIES
Le Petit Journal has graciously been permitted to be the first in France to print Secretary-General of the Imperial Overseas Department, Pierre Laval's, remarks on foreign allegations against the Overseas Department of colonial abuse, oppression, and racial violence. Below is Monsieur Laval's debunking of these slanderous, felonious accusations against His Imperial Majesty's colonial officials.

"Contrary to accusations by foreign subversives inside and outside of France, under Consul De Gaulle's administration, the relationship between French colonists and the native population has become far more progressive, far more positive, and generally conducive to mutually-beneficial progress in the colonies. The Consul, and His Imperial Majesty, have the fullest confidence in the Overseas Department, and the Overseas Department have the fullest confidence in their leadership. The math, ladies and gentlemen, does not lie. Colonial economic returns are up, while incidents of tribal violence, colonial vs native violence, and anti-colonial demonstration are down. In fact, I would go so far to say that any and all reports of such activities are the work of anarchist or socialist subversives. The colonies are more than safe, and more than ready for immigration and settlement. This concludes my statement. Vive la France."

We have had war in the past, but we feel that the time is ripe to make amends and seek a lasting agreement in the region.

I have posted Update 0.

While it's not a regular update, I hope it helps to explain the situation of the world a bit better, and also help me to avoid inconsistencies later on.

Excerpts from a speech by Robert Menzies, Prime Minister of Australia, made to a Joint Sitting of Parliament in 1960

The Commonwealth is an institution based around the primacy of the Mother Country to defend and support the other components of the British Empire. However, with the fall of Great Britain to fascism and tyranny, the Mother Country is no longer a force to defend our rights and dignity. Thus, it is with a heavy heart - and make no mistake, for the Monarchy and the Commonwealth have always been close to my heart, and I am saddened, as are all Australians, that this is a necessary action - that I must announce that Australia will withdraw from the Commonwealth until such time that Democracy and Rule of Law return to Great Britain.

I urge all other Commonwealth nations to do the same; to the nation of Canada, to New Zealand, to South Africa, and to the Commonwealth nations of the Caribbean, I must remind you that the fascist government of Great Britain is tyrannical and undemocratic, and does not represent the ideals that the Commonwealth was founded on. Thus we urge you, the free peoples of the Commonwealth, to take the necessary step and declare that the Commonwealth of Nations will be defunct, and that Great Britain and their Bonapartist puppetmasters will have no authority over us, legal or otherwise, until such time that Great Britain returns to democracy.

To: Great Britain
From: Australia
We are formally withdrawing from the British Commonwealth of Nations. Your abandonment of democracy and the ideals of the enlightened British Empire of old are a disgrace to your former subject nations, and, as such, we are withdrawing from the Commonwealth until such time as Great Britain returns to democratic rule.

To: All Other Commonwealth Nations
From: Australia
We urge all democratic nations in the Commonwealth to throw off their ties to the organisation. We are free democracies, and we should not be at the legal beck and call of the fascists who have despoiled the Mother Country, less so their French puppetmasters. We urge you to throw off the chains of the Commonwealth until such time as proper government returns to Great Britain and our ties with a free, democratic Mother Country can be restored.

In light of the recent move by Australia, we are also withdrawing from the Commonwealth.

We request entry into the Coalition of American States.

OOC: South Africa is not in the Commonwealth. That said, they're closer to the Axis in ideology, anyway.
