Geography lesson

Pitcairn Island
The smallest island with country status is Pitcairn in Polynesia, at
just
1.75 sq. miles/4,53 sq. km.

Since new zeeland (poss oz) busted the people there for piediphilia a couple of years back and thier defence that they were a soverign state was chucked out of court thats wrong too.

Sorry cannt be bothered to find the references.

Detroit
Woodward Avenue in Detroit, Michigan, carries the designation M-1,
named
so because it was the first paved road anywhere.

Thats just silly, there are paved roads all over the world dating back thousands of years.

Maybe they mean bitumen. Still wrong though, good catch.

Texas
The deepest hole ever made in the world is in Texas. It is as deep as
20
empire state buildings but only 3 inches wide.

Not true the Kola hole in russia. Seven and a half miles deep.

On a side note, why is the Empire State Building still used as the scale to measure height/length? I could see when it was built but in the last 70 or so years other, taller buildings have been made.

that reminds me of some comedian somewhere...

How did the cow become the standard for measuring meat-devouring animals "a swarm of piranahs can devour a cow in 7 minutes" a pride of lions can take down a cow in half an hour. What, do they shove a cow in the Amazon and get a stopwatch out? ;)

Well this is the post-Roman era, presumably. Probably the first road recognized as a paved highway, instead of just 'a road'.

Lots of roman roads have been in constant use. The M1 and A1 in england first that comes to mind, but im sure its the same all over. Bonepart also built paved roads for his troops and made the local property owners tree-line them so his soldiers could walk in the shade, and these roads are still in use all over france (and probably the other countries he invaded).

The roman road that runs behind hadrians wall for troop deployment is still there, in use for large sections. All these roads paved and in use for hundreds or thousands of years.

This fact is just twaddle.
