GR27 - AWE Archipelago vs 30 civs

950 (0): A amusing contrast of styles: here Greebley has left me with enemy cities in resistance all over the place, and in Rat36 I left him with nothing but new native cities and empty space, because I razed everything.

We lose a pikeman to the attack of an English MDI next to Toledo.

960 (1): Our single army attacking Vitoria flays a pikeman and a spearman, but the town remains garrisoned (2-0).

We smash three English units around Toledo (5-0).

970 (2): We take Vitoria, held by a remaining garrison of two spearmen (7-0). We capture three workers.

We bombard and smite three English units around Valencia (10-0).

Around Toledo we skewer one English and two Viking units (13-0).

980 (3): We strike down two pikemen in Logrono, but the town remains garrisoned (15-0).

We advance on Zaragosa and overrun a Spanish archer in the area (16-0).

We smash a Carthaginian NM outside Vitoria, capturing a catapult (17-0).

On the Toledo-Valencia front we blast four English units (21-0).

We see the Spanish and the Vikings fighting--excellent. Isabella even moves units out of Zaragosa, which we're about to assault, to attack the Vikings. :D

990 (4): We auto-raze Richmond, the English tundra town NW of our capital (garrison of two spearmen; 23-0), and then replace it with Gallipoli in a better location. It's worth going after the AI's junk towns now that we're at the global city limit.

We close in on Brighton, destroying two Viking archers en route (25-0).

We take Logrono from its remaining garrison of one archer (26-0).

We batter four Carth macemen around Vitoria (30-0).

We take Zaragosa, held by a pikeman and two spearmen (33-0).

Beyond Zaragosa we unhorse a Viking horseman (34-0).

We savage an English archer next to Valencia (35-0).

The Carths land four units between Forthright and Santiago.

1000 (5): We smite two spearmen and an archer in Viking Molde, but the town remains garrisoned (38-0).

We bludgeon four English units around Valencia (42-0).

We pick off a Spanish pikeman and a Numidian between Logrono and Vitoria, but lose an MDI (44-1).

We destroy two Carth MDI south of Vitoria (46-1).

1010 (6): We raze Molde, held by a remaining garrison of a spearman and two horsemen, and then found Silistria closer to our core to replace it (49-1).

Our tundra force takes Fauske, held by two spearmen (51-1). We'll abandon and replace it soon.

We approach Pamplona, trampling a Spanish archer on the way, and then obliterate a pikeman of the town's garrison (53-1).

We dispose of an elite Viking horseman near the ruins of Molde (54-1).

We hunt down the Carth force of four landed between Forthright and Santiago (58-1).

On the Vitoria front we account for three Carth MDI (61-1).

We raze Brighton, held just by two pikemen (63-1). We gain two slaves and a catapult.

We replace Brighton with Janina, in the former Spanish lands.

We slaughter two Viking units in the tundra (65-1).

We eliminate three English MDI near Valencia (68-1).

The Vikings reduce Pamplona's garrison for us.

Viking horsemen attack out of the fog, so our period of not having to worry about fast enemy units is over. We slay one and redline two, but lose an MDI in Toldeo (69-2).

1020 (7): We take Pamplona, held by a remaining garrison of two spearmen (71-2). The Spanish are down to two cities now, and we can see both of them.

We club a Viking archer near Fauske (72-2).

On the Toledo-Valencia front we expunge four English and two Viking units (78-2).

We exterminate one Numidian of Tingis's garrison (79-2).

We abandon Fauske and replace it with Skutari, closing the Forthright-Santiago gap.

We shatter three Viking units around Zaragosa (82-2).

We break three Carth units around Victoria and finally generate our first GL of the round, who forms our eighth army (85-2).

1030 (8): We take Risor, another Viking town in the tundra, held by two spearmen and an archer (88-2).

We defeat the two remaining Numidians of Tingis's garrison and raze the town (90-2). We gain two slaves.

We root out a pikeman of Palma's garrison, and close in on the other remaining Spanish city, Asturias (91-2).

We replace Tingis with Lepanto, founded in the former Spanish lands.

On the Toledo-Valencia front we liquidate two Viking and two English units (95-2).

Outside Pamplona we extirpate a Viking archer (96-2).

We mop up a Carth MDI landed next to Skutari (97-2).

1040 (9): We take Palma from its remaining garrison of one spearman (98-2).

We winkle out two spearman of Asturias's garrison, but an archer still holds the town (100-2).

We hammer another Viking archer in the tundra (101-2).

We push forward from Mugla and crush an English MDI (102-2).

We rout a Carth swordsman landed next to Santiago (103-2).

We abandon Risor in the tundra and found Navarino on the fringe of the Carthaginian lands.

Two forest chops in the Uskudar-Bideer area reveal BG. I haven't mentioned every instance, but we've uncovered a lot of BG this round.

1050 (10): We're able to found a free city in terms of the global limit, Tirnova.

We move adjacent to another Viking tundra town, Karistad, dispersing a unit of archers en route (104-2).

We pummel two spearmen of Alesund's garrison (106-2).

We take Asturias from a single spearman--the archer moved out by galley :smoke:--and eliminate the "Fledgling Spanish" (107-2).

We gut four Carth MDI between Vitoria and Palma (111-2). The Carths are definitely on our continent, in the southwest. It's remarkable that we didn't meet them sooner, and I imagine that the maximal AI aggression setting had a lot to do with it.

We impale an English spearman near Tirnova (112-2).

The advance of eighteen English units between Valencia and Toledo forces us to devote three armies to defense for a bit. We bombard and vivisect four English units (116-2).

Seventeen elite victories this round, one of them defensive, produced one Great Leader.

Our first objective for the next round or two should be to rationalize our line by extending it north from Zaragosa to the sea, and taking the approximately four English cities which will then be behind it. This will give us a lot of land to settle in which the cities won't be completely corrupt. We have three armies presently defending against the English which should be able to go over to the offensive soon, plus one in Asturias near several English cities.

We also want to push west into Viking territory, since that's where the horses are, and we can probably afford to send two armies far beyond our lines to do this--the one already attacking Alesund, and the MDI army healing in Palma. This will leave two sword armies to defend against the Carthaginians in the SW. We should probably wait to attack on that front until we have a sense of how many units Hannibal can send at us.

We'll have some work to do on defense between Valencia and Toledo for the next couple of turns, but we have three armies and plenty of bombardment units in the area. Note that the English don't seem interested in moving next to Valencia--their objective may be Lepanto, as long as we leave it empty.

I would have razed Asturias, except that our redlined army needs the town for protection and healing. The next player shouldn't hesitate to abandon and replace the town to free the army, once it's healed.

We should be able to take Reading near Mugla with local forces, i.e. without sending an army, but we should probably accumulate more units first, since it's a hill town. A combat settler is already positioned there.

We have two settlers on unroaded tiles ready to found cities as soon as the opportunity arises, and another five in advanced positions. We have enough gold to rush settlers in corrupt towns at will.

The only enemy landings this round were by the Carthaginians, on the Skutari-Santiago coast. We saw no sign of the Byzantines at all.

We built a fair amount of infrastructure this round--four libraries, two aqueducts, two marketplaces, and a courthouse. Lumberjacking helped a lot. At least ten structures will complete in the next round.

Bursa has started a granary because it's the almost the only high-food town in our core, and it would be useful to have it skim off workers for merging.

Kafa is worth developing fully, since it's so close to the capital. This will mean planting forests until it has seven forested tundra tiles, and eventually irrigating over the three mined grass tiles it's now working.

The spearman near Not Constantinople is moving to take up MP duty in Winery.

The GLib produced nothing again this round.

I apologize for handing over such a precarious situation but we simply expand too fast
I left 2 towns undefended in order to attract the Carthage maces back home. We have not seen any fast units from them
so far.
Once we have taken care of those English and Carthage troops, we should be in much better shape

gr271150.jpg

Fine progress in the north. :goodjob: I imagine the English are gassed now, and we should be able to attack towards their core in the next round.

It was always inevitable that the Carthaginians would bring some big stacks, considering the size of their empire. We should move the six trebs fortified in Vitoria two tiles east before we hit Enter. That way they'll be able to fire in defense of Vitoria or Navarino next turn, since we'll complete the road north of Navarino in the IT.

By the usual standards of these games, we're getting a lot of free cities. Clearly the maximum AI aggression setting is having an effect.

The Carthaginians seem to be an example of something we've seen occasionally before--an AI civ with horses, but no apparent interest in building horsemen.

Pre-Turn

Naughty, naughty. :nono: Do you think I wouldn't have attacked that redlined archer if it had been safe? ;)

Do you think I wouldn't have attacked that redlined archer if it had been safe?
:mischief: well, guess greed took over and I thought I can create a MGL and not get attacked :(

Anyway, I think the highest priority now is to get down to the horses and to be able to produce knights. That would make life much easier.

CB, it's still three days until Mark can play, so if you can play in that period, go ahead.

Around Clover is a short stack of three healthy English Maces and also a short stack of three wounded Limey units (two Maces and a Pike). One Viking Spear hides in the hills NW of Clover. The city itself has two Armies inside, Swords-3rd (12/18) and Swords-45h (5/17).

Navarino is the other hot spot. It has four healthy defenders (2 vMaces, vSpear and eSpear) and 9 rock throwers (8 trebs and 1 cat). Ten regular units from Carthage (9 Mace and 1 NMerc) fill two tiles around the city, with four of them wounded. Navarino will face at least 6 IBT attacks. However, just beyond Navarino, New Bursa and Santiago are empty, so they may reduce the pressure on Navarino. Two West of Navarino is a stack of 10 more Maces, but only two of them are Vets. Beginning 2SW of Navarino are a total of 8 Maces and 1 NMerc spread out over 5 tiles. Cadiz and Rusuccuru are also an open cities along the Carthage border.

Swords-6th (3/18) is adjacent to Liverpool and could be in danger this IBT.

Preflight, 1150 AD

Wake the 6 Trebuchets in Vitoria and move 2E, joining the 4 other trebs already there. None are fortified.

Rush the settler in Logrono for 24 gold. This settler will move to the plains tile 1N of the Horses that are 2NE of Fusuccuru. Three turns of moving; builds on turn 4.

1 1160 AD

Around the Empire
One English Mace remains at Clover, in the hills to the east. The healthy Maces left Clover to kill the redlined Army Swords-6th outside of Liverpool. The land around Navarino is empty of Carthage units, but 8 units crowd around Cadiz (1 Knight and 7 Maces). We can move one Army into the city. Elsewhere, a Viking Spear bothers Buicus and an English Pike hopes to take out Zaragoza.

The wounded Swords-6th moves 1W, hill to hill, after pillaging a mine and road. Swords-3rd, fully healed, dispatches one English Mace and then joins Swords-6th on the hill (2 of 3).
Viking Spear outside of Clover is pinged by English catapults and pounded by a Mace (3 of 4).
English Pike is pinged outside of Clover, is now red, but still defeats a vMace (3 of 5).
Pinged and redded again, this time it dies (4 of 6).
Catapult in Buicis pings the Viking Spear.
Pike outside Zaragoza is redlined.
Maces-9th (just named, between Vitoria and Navarino) moves SE, loads a Mace, and swats a wounded Brown Mace (5 of 7).
Maces-10th, guarding Buicis, tramples the Viking Spear and moves back into the city (6 of 8).
Swords-1st (12/18) pillages the forest road it is on, defeats a Brown vMace (taking no damage) and pillages that road also, and moves onto a roaded forest, heading back to Navarino. The 21 Brown units that had been focused on Navarino are cut off from running back home to Carthage.

Three trebs arrive in Clover.
We had a settler closer to the Horses than I knew; it moves into position, guarded by the Eighth (Mace) Army.
Three more trebs move into Navarino.
Swords-2nd leaves New Edrine to protect two slaves and semi-block the easy road to New Edrine.

Start a forest road 2NE of Bideer.
Start a Silky forest road N-NE of Dinizli.
Almost Ironic is built SW of Cordoba; nope, too many cities.
Abandon Cadiz and Almost Ironic is placed on the map.

Around the Empire
Two Viking Horses bother Buicis and four more pester Pamplona. England destroys a treb and one Mace moves on Clover. Three Orange Maces land on a hill between Leeds and Farsund. Carthage is again fixated on Navarino, with 6 Maces ready to die. Three Knights are on their way to join the mayhem. but are at least two turns away.

Twelve rock-throwers in Navarino hit 8 times.
Maces-9th snuffs two of the six Brown Maces (8 of 10).
Swords-2nd pillages a grass road from Carthage to New Edrine. Swords-2nd then moves through New Edrine towards Vitoria.
Swords-1st moves 1E, pillages a grass road and moves into a forest, and is now adjacent to three tiles with Brown Mace or NMercs.

We try to build Horse Thief, but once again have too many cities.
Move the Mace and Pike out of Farsund and abandon it.
Now we build Horse Thief.
Horses are now connected to Istanbul.

Swords-5th unseats two Viking Horses at Pamplona (10 of 12).
Orange Mace at Clover in pinged, redded and buried (11 of 13).

Swords-6th moves into Clover to heal.
Swords-3rd pillages an English road before moving back to protect our exposed vMace.

Up by Leeds we have no artillery, and we lose 2 Maces to inflict minor damage on two English Maces (11 of 15).

Move two more trebs in Navarino and nine into Vittoria.

eMace and Maces-10th stick it to two Viking Horses at Buicis (13 of 17).

Move eMace into Navarino and take out another Brown Mace (14 of 18).
vMace already in Navarino reduces a redlined intruder (15 of 19).

Send Pike in Salonika to undefended Hammer, to thwart English dreams.

3 1180 AD

Around the Empire
Leeds area is free from any Orange. Two Orange Maces are in no-mans-land heading for South Reading. Viking Horse is on the hill 1NW of Logrono, which is undefened at the moment; Viking Archer 1S of Pamplona. Four Brown Maces are 1S of Vittoria, in a forest. Two more are 2SE of Vittoria, chasing slaves. 1SW of Navarino are 2 Maces, 1 Nmerc and 1 Knight. 1W-1NW of Navarino, out of range of our artillery, are 6 Brown Maces.

The 8 trebs in Vittoria hit 6 times. At Navarino we redline the four attacks with just 9 rocks.

Maces-9th, still 1W of Navarino, slam dunks the NMerc and does a Mongo on the Knight (20 of 24).
eMace in Navarino is hungry to promote and does so, stamping out a Brown Mace (21 of 25).
*MaceOne-TS22* and Mehmed II.
Mehmed II moves to Santiago and forms Something-11th, earmarked for Knights, but still open if needed.
Swords-1st (12/18), 3SW of Navarino, targets two crippled Brown Maces and they trouble us no more (23 of 27).
Swords-1st (11/18), now 1S-1SW of Navarino, blocks two Brown Knights from easy access to Navarino.
Swords-2nd moves into Vittoria and attacks across the river, trashing two Brown Maces (25 of 29).
vMace, trebs and Sword-4th combine to clean out the Orange Maces heading to South Reading (27 of 31).
New Mace joins Navarino and removes the last Brown Mace outside the city (28 of 32).
Swords-5th deals with the Viking Archer at Pamplona (29 of 33).

Forest cleared 1NE of New Edrine, two slaves move NW to chop again.
Pike moves into Logrono.
Too many cities.
Gloucester and Van hire taxmen.

Istanbul vMace -> vKnight in 3.

We lose an unescorted settler to England, my bad, I thought it was too far away from Liverpool to be in danger.

Around Navarino, we lose a Pike on a hill to a Brown Mace (29 of 34).
The Mace outside of Navarino is touchable by the Brown Knights. Two of them fall trying to kill our Mace, but instead promote it to Elite (31 of 36).

Bideer vPike -> vPike.

4 1190 AD

Around the Empire
Two Maces and a Pike of Orange are hovering around between Asturias and South reading. Two Viking Horses gather at Buicis, while four Horses and a Spear group around Pamplona. One Viking Horse dares to distrub Dumbo. 8 1230 AD

Around the Empire
Purple troops seem focused on Pamplona, with two Horses and an Archer next to the city. Buicis is rather overlooked, with only a Purple Spear 1N of that city. A Brown Mace and NMerc make a soon to be futile attempt on Navarino. A lone Brown Mace is at Skutari, within strking distance of one eSword and two vMaces. Six other Brown units are moving through the forests towards Navarino, including two Knights.

Dropped-off Mace is pinged and then skewered by the nearby eSword (76 of 84).
At Liverpool, we ping three Pikes. Swords-3rd and Swords-6th pound the three Pikes, our eMace loses to a wounded vMace, but is avenged by a vMace, as Liverpool is captured and razed (80 of 89). We gain 4 slaves and no gold.

Treb pings and eSword pongs the raiding Brown Mace (93 of 102).

Orange Pike thinks it threatens Clover. Viking Spears are 1N and 1S of Buicis. Three Viking Horses, one wounded, are 1W of Pamplona. Three Brown Knights are making a run on Navarino, their two Mace backup just outside our borders.

Eighth (Maces) nearly dies taking down an NMerc in Tacape, but it falls and we raze the city (107 of 116). Three slaves and zero gold.

Spanish London is built NE of Better Than Liverpool, on a hill.

England and Scandanavia
Spoiler :

1250_NW.jpg

The English and Vikings have been more pests than threats. The English still lack Horses. The Vikings have them, but are stupid. It is a rather nice combination.

The Vikings have been aiming at Buicus and Pamplona but (mostly) have not been getting past those two cities. England has snuck some Pikes by (one is 1S of Clover and another is 1S of Better Than Liverpool and is hard to see). Better Than Liverpool and Spanish London can support each other right now. The slaves 1S of Spanish London will let units move on our side of the hills, and let Clover join in the support work also. Once the hill 1S of Better Than Liverpool is roaded, Zaragoza is just three roads tiles away, too.

Horse Thief
Spoiler :

1250_HorseThiief.jpg

We had Horses for a bit and then Carthage pillaged the tile. Horse Thief is a bit far from New Edrine, with the most direct path going outside our borders. We have four slaves on the Horses, ready to rebuild the roads to reconnect the Horses. Under the Pike NE of Horse Thief are four more slaves, which can either chop that forest or make a shorter road to Horse Thief.

Eighth (Maces) is 3/17 and needs to get into a city to heal.

Once we get Horses reconnected, and our Armies healed, I think that we need to start bearing down on Carthage. NMercs are tough to kill without artillery, so we should try and borrow some from Navarino, along with some Maces.

Carthage Incursions
Spoiler :

1250_Navarino.jpg

The menace from Carthage is much less than it was 10 turns ago. The 20 or so units that threatened the city are now all dead and the attacks are now in twos and threes. Knights are the biggest worry, but Carthage has remained focused on Navarino and sometimes Vitoria. The forces in Navarino are quite adaquate to the task of stopping the assualts from Brown.

We have a settler in Navarino and plenty of units to force our way down the coast.

From what I can tell, the Brown units tend to seperate at the Green Dot, with Knights following the Pink Path and NMercs and Maces sticking to the Blue Path.

Knight Army
1250_KnightArmy.jpg

The Knight Army is 2S of Sivas, which is building the last of our current Knights. We can rush that Knight for 180 gold and I think we should.

Overall
We are still hampered by the Too Many Cities message. We have a lot of workers and slaves, but mostly I had them making roads. We can't let these guys get too close to the front lines, but our road network does seem to lag behind.

We had Horses for a while, but when I saw that they would be pillaged I should have switched over more cities to Knight production. We had only a yellowed Pike to attack healthy NMerc; we would have lost the battle and Horses still would have been pillaged. As of now, we have only three Knights, all in the Army Knights-11th, which is hanging around Sivas waiting for our last Knight to be rushed.

I did not see any Byzantine units in these turns.

Excellent work against the Carthaginian rush.

Our large force in Better Than Liverpool is obviously sufficient to deal with anything the English can send at us now. So our three armies in the north should start acting against English cities as a combined force, after appropriate healing.

I imagine that at least two of our armies around Horse Thief could also take the offensive now.

Since we're about to regain our ability to build knights, we should be pre-building them extensively, not letting macemen and pikemen complete. The next player will want to attend to this before hitting Enter.

Bursa can't do anything with its eleventh and twelfth population points except run specialists, so after it completes a knight it should peel off two workers. That's why I built a granary there.

Just a thought for the future: this is an archipelago map, yet because we have an inland capital our shipbuilding base is just four somewhat corrupt cities. We're going to have to cash-rush almost our whole navy.

Rusucurru is captured by a Carthagian Knight. We lose 31 gold.
 They did not have any fast units during my turns, thus I left the cities empty.

By the way, there is still no progress on the tech front. Shall we go for max research once we hit invention? We should try and get our UU and then GA as soon as possible with such a big empire. The GA will be really a boost for us.

Roster:
Greebley - Up
Northern Pike - On Deck
markh
ThERat
Commando Bob - Just Played

I got it. I will definitely do the knight prebuilds, though I may also look into building infrastructure as we generally seem to have enough units at the moment.

I think I won't put a 4th knight in the Knight Army. Progress is sufficient, that I don't think we need to be size 4 in order to capture our continent and it will mean another Army that can go out when we get Galleons.

I agree on full research toward our UU when we get Invention.

These huge Archipelago maps really are different. I mean who ever heard of an inland capitol on an Archipelago map? I think they are really "many continents" style maps. I think I am liking them.

I agree with full research once we've crawled our way to Invention, and with leaving all knight armies at three units. Eventually we'll have armies of one Sipahi and three knights, and the math on that works out well, with the MA.

Our underpopulated first-ring cities such as Izmit and Kafa need a whole second wave of development, in which we irrigate over mined grassland so that they can work more hills and forests, and then merge them up to at least size ten. It would be helpful if you could at least move some workers into that area by the end of your round. As I've said before, avoiding the waste of worker-turns on travel is a useful principle, but not a religion.

Ya, I noticed the fact we weren't using hills last turn and did a start on irrigation but didn't get far.

When I do want to do a bigger change I often build Workers in core cities that are not growing. This way they start growing again and the growth can be made faster via irrigation. You can also merge the workers back in at the end to get the final population points. I will look into this - I usually try to do some of this every time I play. It means fewer shields short term, but can be a win long term. If we don't need workers, then I will likely move them from afar.

Preturn: Prebuild Knights. Switch over some towns to workers to get more irrigation and to mine all those mountains.

IBT: We finally get Invention from the GLib. Landing near Santiago.

1255 AD: Kill Landing Knight. Some MDI are killed. Going for Gunpowder at full 80% science to get it in 10. Advance on all fronts. Kill a Pike in Warwick.

IBT: A whole bunch of Horse can get to Bucis and they kill the Pike guarding it and capture it. An oversight on my part.

1260 AD: Move on Bulcis. Kill two more Pike in Warwick

IBT: More Spear in Bulcis, but some move past it.

1265 AD: Capture back Bulcis and clean up Viking intruders from when it fell. Capture Warwick. May abandon - not sure yet. MDI loses to a 1 hp Num Merc. Attack Carthage town of Rusuccuru.

Horse are Connected so all bigger cities that have Markets, and Libs are building Knights.

1270 AD: Capture Rusuccuru. Our first Knights head for the front. Mis-move a Knight that may cost us a Pike and MDI that now can't be defended (I often take back hitting a wrong key but in this case I hadn't saved recently enough).

IBT: Wow, our 2 hp MDI retreats a Knight and kills a full health MDI before it is killed.
First Viking AND English Knight spotted.

1275 AD: Mostly move (and pillage) to block incoming units so the AI has nothing to attack.

IBT: Some attacks and a loss of a Pike. Now that all civs have Knights, it is harder to defend against.

1280 AD: Remove a Hills town to build a new one more forward and improve our front line.
Armies are mostly healing. Attack Birka

1285 AD: Bombard and kill last Pike in Birka - Raze city and replace with another. Attack Rusicade - only a 1 hp Knight left in the city.

IBT: Lose a Pike and MDI.

1290 AD: Moving on Stolkholm. Kill Rejkavik I think it was. Forgot to note the name before razing it.

IBT: Massive numbers of Dromon show up to bomb friendly.

1295 AD: Libraries complete for border expansions. Was using chops to speed corrupt towns. Also spent a bit of money for ones that were close. Riza moves out of a crowded area to help the front line.
I MM'ed Gunpowder to 1 turn.

IBT: We get Gunpowder.

1300 AD: We finally capture Risicade, but Army red-lines taking out the last unit. I keep the city to defend the Army. Settler attempt works and Hollow Tree built.
Kill a Pike in Stockholm (viking). About 1/2 of our Armies are healing.

Notes:
We are running 30% lux so that Istanbul can get above 24 shields. I suggest building a Worker in Istanbul next to get it to size 11. Then it can get 24 shields at 20% lux.
Our north is under control with limited road access requiring units to go around and keeping them from attacking. However South still has issues and fewer Armies making faster units able to attack. We will likely lose our Elite* sword, I was more willing to sacrifice him than let the AI kill a Pike. I have been cutting roads to get the situation under control, but it wasn't complete. The long front makes it hard.
Our Knight Army is further into enemy territory. I was hoping to cut off Horses or Iron for Vikings or England to stop the Knights.
We need to get a settler in a settle spot. My extra was able to Settle.
Chemistry in 12
There are a ton of units in Rusuccuru. We may want to have an army escort them to attack Cirta. Said army is currently healing
There are tons of unit near stockholm. It should fall without needing to use the Armies.
I was going to get irrigation to Hammer, but the workers went elsewhere. Now there are once again workers near there to try to get water.
Jaen look like it can be abandoned to build another town It doesn't have sufficient grassland to support the hills near it. Leeds would be my second choice to abandon if we wanted a town some where else.
Friendly is not growing because the Dromon would simply knock any pop down - if they want to bombard a useless town then great. Take out the MDI from Friendly and they will attack a different town that will have more to lose(population or buildings), so I would keep the MDI there to be bombed.
I did some irrigation but wasn't as organized as I should have been - in addition town are needing more happiness to be truly effective.. It would be better to plan out some of it to maximize hill and Mountain use (will likely need rails to get it all). We may also want to consider more Temples and Cathedrals, since we will likely only get one or at most 2 Lux per continent.
