Gr7 - AWM vs 30 civs on a giant map

I have it. Agree with Lee's plan to hit the Celts. That will give us a mid ocean staging point

I actually think we should try and get that small Island east off the other main continent.
From there we could launch a big offensive and once we have flight, that would be a great airbase to launch attacks

We have 36 Armies.

Glad to see we have Mauch Chauk building more since most cannot cross the seas yet.

We have towns that could have 10 shields completely irrigated. For example, Nicea is around 33% yet it is entirely on science. I would like to mine towns this close and closer. We have plenty of science only towns and getting more production would be worthwhile. A Cavalry every 8 turns would be worthwhile. If we got a factory (we can use civil Engineers) with Hoover, then Nicea could get to 20 shields I bet.

Also we are falling behind on settling - I feel we should increase the output of settlers. We even have corrupt towns at size 12.

That wasn't what I was proposing. I simply wanted to raze that island out of existence. Keeping it will work, but it will be a pain. Small islands seem to be a magnet for AI landings. Look how much of a pain Arabia has been. If we keep it expect to have to dedicate a lot of resources to keep it.

I am sure there are still cities needing work. A lot of the cities were still growing to size 12 in the core. I fixed a lot of cities at size 12. Some of them got 3 or 4 more tiles mined. Every city as it hits size 12 needs to be reviewed for shield optimizing. I got a lot in good shape, but I knew a lot more towns would need work.

If there were less then size 12 I simply railed them to speed up growth.

I left around 10 settlers for use, and had 3 or 4 cities on permanent settler duty. We had several low shield (3-5) cities with high food. We should keep peeling settlers out of those cities every time the get large.

As for the size 12 corrupt cities is there anything I can say or do to get you to drop wanting to build settlers from them? I have spent hours trying to get these cities to that point, and don't want to throw my work down the drain.

After Markh's turn there were 4 settlers and land for 10-20 of them. We have fallen behind since your turn.

Agree we can let cities grow first, but some are already size 12 or have lots of scientists when they could be productive. As you state, I would like to determine the ones that can have 20 odd shields with Hoover and put them to work.

Just things for the next player to think about.

Thinking about it some more I really don't have the interest in continuing to play in the game. I have lost interest in Civ3, and this game is too big of a time commitment.

Looking at the game all I feel it the urge to rip apart other players moves again, and this isn't what helps an SG. I find myself want to complain about South Sahara being size 6 and no specialists. I have beat the scientist issue to death, and I am still out of sync with the team.
Gandasetaigon shouldn't been built at this time. A slow growth city that will support just one scientist should have been built *after* all the fast growing grassland cities that move us closer to the AI.

Understand Lee. We will see you again with Civ 4.

We are now down to 4. Hopefully, we don't lose anyone else...

Roster:
Greebley - on deck
ThERat
Markh - just played
Sir Bugsy - up

We do have room for another if any lurkers want to try out this game. Be aware though that this game can be a major time commitment. Even 5 turns can take more than 5 hours in the latter part of this game.

lurker's comment: Whats the intended victory condition again?

lurker's comment: While I believe you guys could win this by conquest, which would be faster: conquest, domination, or space?

The game is clearly in the bag, IMO it's not necessary to play it out.
What is the fun in that? Of course we'll play it out.

That's what God made  for. On my machine, it is more like 3.5 minutes. Just enough time to visit the head and get another beverage. :D Sort of like a commercial.

I did not build more settlers as we are at the city limit. I replaced each razed city with a new one. Maybe I was too slow razing. If there are no cities razed from other AI-AI wars you should not be able to settle more cities. Anyway I think our continent is safe and the game won already, but it is still fun to play, even that one turn takes about an hour (at least for me). The AIs are far away from flight and our two armies going overseas can not only pillage, but raze cities. If you need settlers they can be built fast. We have enough cities that could compensate the loss of scientists for a few turns.

I want us to go for conquest. And I would like to try out units we hardly use, like the radar arty or stealth bombers. There is a 1 tiel Island, that means we also need some marines at a certain point in time.

Own, please don't spam this thread, if you would not want to play this out, that's ok, but we do want that. SG's are not meant to be abandoned half way through. I enjoy this game, and frankly, I don't understand why LK gets so upset each time we talk about settlers.

Since I have *dropped* this game, does it really matter at this point?

I have always enjoyed playing with you in the Team. I also get frustrated when people make mistakes (the same ones again and again). I feel it's a pity that you leave this game half way through.
Never mind, I accept that and see you in Civ4 then

Pre-flight – Nice to see we have an invasion force for Ireland.

IBT – Xerxes and Ragnar want a tech for peace :rotfl:

1752 – Start out by taking Aden.

That destroys the strong Arabs. We were set up to attack Warwick, so I do. The three defenders are gone easily and we raze it. Since most folks don’t know where Warwick is, I’ll post this:

Maastricht is razed. Found Scout River, Kahnawake, Meleetville, Akwesasne. Rush a few settlers.
