Sequoyah has his ears and his fingers fully intact on that picture, his ears are just under his turban.

That portrait was made before 1837 so it would be Industrial Era. The Cherokee were nicknamed "The White Indians" because they adopted Western and Caucasian ways of life and dress. Only a few Cherokee's wore turbans and Sequoyah is believed to have done so. I myself have a turban very similar to Sequoyah's although I barely ever ware it (my spiked mohawk gets in the way :crazyeye:).

This is what I would do for each era:

Ancient - Sequoyah only wearing loin cloth, background are hills or other terrain like that of Georgia, Tennessee, and Carolinas.
Medieval - Sequoyah with more clothes, similar background.
Industrial - Sequoyah wearing what he's wearing in the portrait, background a cabin or something.
Modern - Sequoyah wearing a turban or not, in tuxedo or something. In front of Tahlequah, OK city hall.

Unex- you do some amazing work. I've long admired your splashes. If you're still looking for splash ideas, I have a few:

University of Timbuktu
Great Zimbabwe
Potala Palace
Sagrada Familia

A couple of modern wonders:

Itaipu Dam
Shah Faisal Mosque (preferably the night view, if possible)

I've been thinking and I think the Cherokee War Chief Ostenaco is a much better and more viable leader for the Cherokee than Sequoyah who was never a chief and was only a statesman yet the creator of the alphabet. A good Cherokee history site, cherokeehistory.com gives decent info on Ostenaco:

Ostenaco was a war chief who, in 1756, joined the English in a campaign against the French-allied Shawnee during the Seven Years War ("French and Indian War). His warriors were abandonned by the British troops when their provisions were lost while crossing a swollen river. His band "confiscated" horses from the ungrateful Virginians who retaliated by killing 24 of his party. A period of retaliatory raids begain between the Cherokee and colonists. In 1762, the Cherokee captured Fort Loundon (near present Venore TN). Eventually, devastation of the Cherokee country by large colonial armies forced the Cherokee to sue for peace. Lt. Henry Timberlake volunteered to stay with the Cherokee to improve Cherokee-English relations. Ostenaco, along with Stalking Turkey and Pouting Pigeon, visited London in 1762 to see King George III accompanied by Lt. Henry Timberlake and interpreter, William Shorey, who died in route.

I know from stories from family, and my history studies at the reservation that Ostenaco was the most powerful Cherokee chief prior to 1760.

What I would do is to use Ostenaco's hair style and dress for Ancient and Middle and then go onto Sequoyah's looks for Industrial or Modern. Or if you have already worked on Sequoyah keep it the same. Just a thought.

Just did a search on Google & found its tougher to find pictures than I imagined.

Suggested Itaipu because I think the game is heavy on Anglo-American wonders. In my game I've changed the name of "Hoover Dam" to "Itaipu Dam". Others might prefer the Three Gorges Dam (Though China is already well represented in wonders) Mostly I'm just looking for a splash with a wider, more green version of the Hoover Dam:

No one is quite sure what the Great Zimbabwe was. Sort of like a Stonehenge that way. But it was the largest Sub-Saharan, pre-colonial structure built in Africa:

You should have no problem finding more inspiring images of the Potala Palace. But you seem to enjoy using water & reflections, so this could be useful:

Sagrada Familia is also very easy to find. But the extraordinary detail could be very tough to re-create. Less impressive is the architecture of the university at Timbuktu. Was built out of mud:

Of course I understand if you can't complete any of these. But if you just need help finding better pictures, let me know.

Wow Rita, those are some spectacular images! I'll see what I can do.

Here's my first stab at Ostenaco. :)

BTW, splashes? :hmm:
Did I miss a Native American splash?

Looks excellent. :goodjob: Should the strand of hair be a tad longer though?

I am highly aware of the background. Any idea for a background I can generate? :)

That is amazing. :goodjob: I really like it. Except for the hair, but that was mentioned already. ;)
