Sent via mobile... Bonus quote: "Strategy without tactics is the slowest route to victory. Tactics without strategy is the noise before failure" -- Sun Tzu
This quote, among others, is how you can tell that Sunzi never really fought wars. Many armies have gotten into rough spots via strategic or operational ineptitude and rescued themselves with superior tactics.

QFT, but keep in mind a bad strategy is better than NO strategy, and far better than a lucky hunch. I have "fought" on picket lines, at social service offices and in court rooms and if you did not go in with a strategy, you were screwed, blued and tatooed.

Sent via mobile; apologies, I didn't strategize my post....

Like...so take mating for example. There's the argument to be made there's a lot of people worrying, "How do I get a girlfriend," when commonly a great answer seems to be, "Go do what you love, go be a part of something amazing, build up your person and go do what it is you were destined to do, and when you're at your peak enjoying who you are, that's when you'll meet a special someone out in the field of doing what you love, that's when you will feel the most full and feel like you have the most to offer another person as a potential partner in life." So go do what you love, and build yourself up.

Hey, story of my life. It is, after all, why we are HERE, is it not? Find your path and walk that mother. Along the way, you will meet people like you...

"The thing about quotes on the internet is that you cannot always confirm their validity." - Abraham Lincoln

@Dachs: using Flowers for Algernon in any kind of joke is in bad taste :/

“Man has the right to deal with his oppressors by devouring their palpitating hearts.”

- Jean-Paul Marat

I prefer the one from Threads. More interesting scenario to read about, but it really doesn't end on a good note.

Anyway,
"The world is nearly all parcelled out, and what there is left of it is being divided up, conquered and colonised. To think of these stars that you see overhead at night, these vast worlds which we can never reach. I would annex the planets if I could; I often think of that. It makes me sad to see them so clear and yet so far. "
-Cecil Rhodes, Last Will and Testament

A philosophical or religious system is only a statement of that arrangement of existence in universe which God has revealed to us as our status of being.

Firmness, without dogmatism, in our own system, toleration, without weakness, of all other systems should therefore be our intellectual outlook.
Parabrahman is the Absolute, & because It is the Absolute, it cannot be reduced into terms of knowledge. You can know the Infinite in a way, but you cannot know the Absolute.

You can become Parabrahman; you cannot know Parabrahman.

....to become Parabrahman void of terms or symbols you must cease out of the universe.
Sri Aurobindo

"The individual whose thoughts were to be reformed was first investigated and persuaded to describe himself and his life experiences to the point where the group could begin to criticize him. In study-group criticism the individual was at once isolated and subjected to the rebukes or admonishments of everyone else. This shook his self-confidence. As a next step, in public struggle meetings the individual was publicly accused and humiliated before a large and usually jeering audience representing the community. [...]
The consequent obliteration of his personality thus prepared him for the final stage of rebirth and reconciliation. When his confession was finally accepted and the party welcomed him back into the fold, he might experience a tremendous elation and willingness to accept the party's guidance. Whether this psychological experience did change personalities is less certain the the fact that it was a highly unpleasant experience to be avoided in the future. One way or the other, the result was conformity to the party line."

Rebecca: "What is this my children? There is something in my way. I cannot go on...."

Rioters: "What is it, Mother Rebecca? Nothing should stand in your way."

Rebecca: "I do not know my children. I am old and cannot see well."

Rioters: "Shall we come and move it out of your way, Mother Rebecca?"

Rebecca: "Wait! It feels like a big gate put across the road to stop your old mother."

Rioters: "We will break it down, mother. Nothing stands in your way."

Rebecca: "Perhaps it will open...Oh my dear children, it is locked and bolted. What can be done?"

Rioters: "It must be taken down, mother. You and your children must be able to pass."

Rebecca: "Off with it then, my children."

- recorded from the street theatre-cum-riot staged by Twm Carnabwth and his followers against toll-gates in Carmarthenshire, Wales, in 1839.

Riddley Walker

Vaas and Hoyt both could have made use of such a manual.
"-Someone is throwing a rock to distract you"
-Try looking in the opposite direction from where the sound originated."
-General Tarquin's manual for guards

Riddley Walker! I read part of that when I was at school. :)
