Guess the Map IV: A Thousand Cries for "Hint Please!"

Is Venezuela black because the other countries are coloured in relation to it?

Foreign relations of Venezuela would be my guess.

It looks to me like a racial map, IE blue = majority white, green = majority mestizo, yellow = majority native, red = black. Purple must be mixed black/white I guess?

Correct. Purple is mulatto and orange is asian. I didn't put the eastern hemisphere because Europe would be all blue, Africa would be almost all red, etc.

The source for most of the countries was this and the rest I looked at that countries wiki article.

I now feel deeply, thoroughly idiotic for not figuring it out. :hammer2:

Well, there's no need to be mean.

True - but sepamu's up, right?

Well race is a pointless distinction since we are all human.

I doubt there's anybody that believes that more deeply than me; however, I didn't have any issues with that map. As long as people count race/ethnicity into demographics (and people always will) I would consider it to be a fair subject for this thread.

After all, I'd say it's more relevant than, say, Countries That Are Good At Soccer (sorry everybody- futbol)- which I'm sure I could find as a map somewhere in the first two threads. But, hey, I don't really like soccer. I'd still try to guess the map though.

My 2:gold:. :)

Well, learning about the demographics of ancestry can be interesting, as it tells you a lot about the different population histories of the countries. Just as long as you don't take it any further than that - making insinuations about countries or individuals based on racial differences, for instance. There's no reason to be against saying that, for instance, most people in Jamaica are black, purely as description. And I don't think anyone here was making any racial judgements or discriminatory remarks.

Anyways, here's my map :) Shouldn't be too hard, I don't think.

Spoiler The map :

NZ has one, so it can't be that.

Wolves? Red have populations still, orange are where they've been killed off?

I think Moldavia has a lot of wolfs, the biggest European population is in Romania so I think Moldavia has some.

The map fits perfectly aside from Moldavia. I'd attribute Moldavia as an oversight -- it's the only non-island country in the northern hemisphere (excluding sub-Sahara which is isolated by the desert) uncoloured.
