Adoption or last change of constitution?

Nah, doesn't look like it. But it does from the comments looks like it does have something to do with head-of-state/president. It's probably not political affiliation of the president, not it's length of rule, month of being elected/taking the job?

Perhaps it is age of the head-of-state of head-of-government?

Heads of state would certainly fit for all the same-coloured countries of the Commonwealth. Is the Italian president in his 80s as well?

At least 70s.

Then he is indeed in his 80s, aye. :)

Wow! I could have studied that map for a year and never come up with that.

Uggh. I was looking at the similarities between Bhutan and Madagascar and I didn't realize that both had young leaders.

I remember Peck said that age was the right line of thinking, and it looked like it had to do with head-of-states and the like, so I just put two and two together. :p

If I don't post a map in 24h, its open ground. Actually, if somebody already has a map ready, please post. I'm more of guessing than of posting maps. :)

Well if you don't mind JoanK....

So I was going to make a map of my own, but I found this handy premade one online. It isn't formatted exactly as I like, but it'll do.

Treat all of the colors the same; if a country has a color, then it has done this. If it is gey, it has not.

Crap, if that quality is a problem, let me know and I'll redo it.

Muhahaha, you guys will never get this one.

dark green - superpowers
orange - former colonial powers
light green - parts of former empires
blue - alcoholics
purple - empires from a certain time frame

Ahhh, wait a second. I think each colour is supposed to represent a different time period? In this order maybe?

purple
blue
light green
dark green

Some things don't seem to add up, but.. maybe they do.

It could also have something to do with the UN. So those are my 3 answers ;)

The colors do represent time periods, so you were right about that. Everything else is wrong though.
