Full answer: Most of the colors are age groups. The dotted countries require marriage for consent. The pink countries have no age of consent. The grey countries have no data.

And I believe the circles indicate, that sex outside marriage is illegal.

Excuse me if I'm doing it wrong-- I've never done this before. It's sort of a continuum as opposed to finite options. The green represents one end and the orange is another.
 
Hmmm. Urbanisation of population? Rural v. urban pop ratio? Doesn't quite fit really, but someone's got to make a valiant attempt after three days.
 
Percentage of forest cover remaining currently, versus a particular year's baseline?
 
All of you are pretty far off the mark. I'd say Silly Something is closest, though, because it is a social characteristic and not something to do with the environment.
 
I think it's something far less complicated.
