Happening this Thursday, May 15: we want to hear your thoughts on Advisor Warnings!

Why would they host a Discord chat about simple bugs? There's nothing to discuss.

You're right. I suppose I just want an answer and instead keep getting more fluff.

The only time I've cared about advisor notifications is the every turn weather channel nonsense (which is better now) and not being notified of being invaded until my units are taking fire.

Yeah, but also not a single person has had their opinion of the game impacted by advisor warnings, positively or negatively. To say they have bigger fish to fry is a massive understatement, regardless of whether you’re looking at it from a technical or gameplay design perspective.

Definitely tweak the one that's telling me that war support is giving me loss of happiness when I'm in the positives.

Oh, ffs. This is just a chance for players to give some feedback about how they want a particular feature to work. It has nothing to do with whether bugs are going to get fixed.

I was actually thinking about exactly this topic the other day. I find some of the advisor warnings helpful, but others are just annoying. I'd like to be able to decide which ones are shown. Paradox games do this and it's a great feature. I don't need to be reminded that I'm behind in technology or that I'm over the settlement cap. I definitely want to be reminded that I forgot to build a fishing cay in a distant islands town.

And there are some inconsistent things that I'd like to see fixed. Some of the disaster notifications tell me how many tiles were damaged, how many people died, and how many tiles were fertilized. Others just say that the damage wasn't so bad. The numbers are better!

(I guess it's not entirely clear if the notifications count as advisor warnings. Probably not. But I'd like to be able to select which notifications I get, too.)

Some of y’all may not have read the comments and seen Sar’s response to a comment so I’ve attached it here as it gives the reasoning for getting feedback on advisors along with stating that they are working on bugs/improvements etc.

I gather the adviser warnings are the rectangular boxes that pop up (like the weariness example given above) but what are the alerts that used to stack as circles above the next turn button?

Since the patch before last (or maybe even before that), they all collapse into a single summary one that I have to click on if I want to read them. Is there a way to adjust the level of summarisation? I find I miss important alerts because I don’t click in there as a matter of habit. Units being attacked or wonders being sniped are examples that come to mind.

My circles still stack above the next turn button. Circles of the same type stack, but circles of different types do not.

Are you using a mod that might change that behavior?

Yeah, but also not a single person has had their opinion of the game impacted by advisor warnings, positively or negatively.
I don't see how you can reasonably provide a shred of evidence for this claim.

UX and signposting is a big issue with the game as it stands. It's also something feedback is useful for, vs. bugs and other issues.

Interesting, this is absolutely not what I experience and is how I expected the change would work when it was announced!

I don’t use any mods but will dive into the settings again tonight to see if there’s anything I’ve done that might have thrown things off. Otherwise I’ll report it as a bug. Thank you!

Nothing wrong with them getting feedback about the advisor system(and other stuff). It needs improvement like a lot of the other UI. Acting like other stuff isnt being worked on or fixed is just rage baiting. Its not a zero sum game. Clearly its a topic they want more information on.

The 'trailing behind in civics' advisor popup is something I'm gonna bring up, always shows up early in a game when of course I'm going to be behind, the AI are still in their headstart.

Don't remember any others which are annoying though, but neither can I think of many that are especially useful except for the ones that remind me to spend some gold and influence. A much more useful advisor system would be very nice though, atm improvements I can think of are:
- Have the 'you should make a trade route' popup tell me what resources are available, or have a button which opens up the trade 'lens'
- A 'do not remind me again' option if you think you won't want a certain warning again this game
- 'Disagreeing with leader agenda' if you're generally friendly with another leader but that's in danger of being undone because you're starting go against their agenda

There are advisors in that game ?

I didn’t know this either. Did I turn them off somehow?
Probably. It's tutorial settings - you could have full tutorial, advisor recommendations or just turned off. I believe you just have them turned off.

That's another UI thing done in not a great way, because advisors inform about things happening in particular game, not try to teach rules in general. They should be a separate setting.
